Ooooh Flavia was beyond perfect! I had the truffle butter pasta with prawns and omg it was to die for! My cousin had the lasagna and said that also was phenomenal. I enjoyed a mojito as my dessert and I couldn't have been happier. My server was a gorgeous Latino man from the DR and we bonded over my family being from Central America he was really sweet and outgoing. We felt special as the manager also made his way over to ask us how things tasted. I had a great experience here thank you Flavia
We stopped in for dinner at Flavia on our last night in Spain. We arrived around 9:30 without a reservation, but were fortunate to get a table because someone had not showed up for their reservation. If you are planning on going, and I recommend that you do, call ahead to reserve your table. The venue is a 2-story intimate, yet trendy, experience. You can get a menu in spanish or english. Once you order your drinks (plenty of spanish and italian wine options, among other things), the waiter will drop off a delicious basket of bread along with shaved ham and a truffle aioli. We ordered spaghetti with meatballs and tagliatelli with mushrooms and chicken in a cream, truffle sauce. At the end of the meal, they brought us complimentary lemoncello. Overall, it was a wonderful and delicous experience all around.
Thank you Flavia, for welcoming me as a solo diner! Yelp led me to this slightly out-of-the-way place. Hit all the right notes for me: -Beautiful and charming decor/ambiance -Great service (fluent English and English menu not expected but nice) -Delicious food and wine. Seafood risotto was rich and chock full of seafood. Salad was simple but wonderfully fresh. Complimentary starter of mortadella and savory ... dip? Spread? Just, yum. No room for dessert! I'd come back in a heartbeat.
Flavia had just a lovely ambiance, and was a very convenient place to enjoy a nice dinner when staying next door at the VP Jardins de Recoletos. Although you likely need a reservation if you go later, I had no trouble walking in and getting a table at 8:15pm. Apparently no one in Spain wants to eat then. :) I had the margarita pizza and a small side salad of arugula and tomatoes. It was all very good. They also brought a surprise little starter of some meat that looked like bologna. The service was fantastic and friendly, and they seated another solo diner next to me, and he and I had a great conversation over wine, so all in all it was a delightful evening.
I was on vacation to celebrate to celebrate an aunt's birthday (Auntie Gwen)with my aunts and cousin. On our second day in Madrid my cousin and I both wanted Italian, so my cousin found this place which happened to be right around the corner from our hotel. All I can say, is that the FOOD and SERVICE (Luís) were amazing!! We arrived with no reservations but were immediately seated. Upon seating you are given this amazing mortadella and bread (and I do mean amazing)!! Also, like most restaurants being Americans in Madrid, Luís asked what was the nature of our holiday and we told him of course thinking nothing of it. We ordered our food which was all delicious, I know because I tasted everything ! The chicken Flavia, pesto pasta dish, gnocchi, mushroom and truffle (only if you really like truffle), rocket salad (arugula and cherry tomatoes), the roasted vegetables, and mashed potatoes were qué bueno!! The tiramisu was good but the cheesecake was and is to die for!! Summing this up, the food and service were so good we ate there twice (2nd and last night) . Like I mentioned before that it was my Aunt's birthday they surprised her on both days with a slice of birthday cheesecake !! The entire staff is truly amazingly nice! But I would like to especially thank both Dairo (hope I spelled it right) and Luís for making our last two dinners in Madrid truly memorable. I wish them all the best and I hope to see them when I return to Madrid!!

One of my favorite areas in Madrid is Recoletos. And there is nothing quite better than looping your way through the narrow streets off the Paseo de la Castellana/Paseo de Prado and having dinner in a Modern hip Italian/cocktail restaurant tucked a way between this grand path and the posh Calle Serrano. Italian you say? In Madrid? Yes, absolutely. I had a party of 5 in tow, adults and children of different ages and tastes. The staff was extraordinarily accomodating especially the head waiter/manager. The Woodfired Pizzas and homemade pastas are extarordinarily authentic as they import much of their ingredients from Italy. We tried the Siciian with divine anchovies and the Margarita Pizzas and they were so tasty and the crust was perfectly cooked. Cutting the pizza at the table was also a nice touch. We orded the gnocchi and its a must have as its fresh and like all their tomato based dishes, addicting. The drinks were super as cocktails are their thing and they were truly generous in serving us a wonderful starter/amuse bouche at the beginning and grappa at the end of the night. I highly recommend this place as its delicious. While it may be a departure from Spanish food, Flavia is truly gorgeous, intimate and situated in a perfect location that makes you feel less like a tourist and more like Madrileno out for the night! read more
