Decided to try some Italian food to break up the constant Spanish food we had been having for every meal - it satisfied our need but the food and experience itself was very much just okay. Our greatest annoyance was it took us nearly 45 min to order our food. The menu is accessible via a QR code but no one in my party could use data as we were all traveling from the US. The waiter told us connect to the restaurant's Wi-Fi. We tried to do so for 30 min but none of us could connect to it due to very poor connection. We asked if there was a physical menu we could read since we couldn't access the menu via our phones and the waiter would tell us to be patient and left. Oven Mozzarella Bar is a chain Italian restaurant in Madrid. We visited on a whim when we were hungry and searching for lunch. The interior environment is clean and simple, with a clear view of the cooking area and a chain-restaurant aesthetic. Service was prompt and friendly. Food arrived fresh. Both dishes were very sweet and the gnocchi dish was difficult to finish, even though the recommended dish on their pasta menu. I am not sure how they received such great reviews on Google. Food: I got the popular "mushroom and truffle pappardelle". It kinda felt like I was eating food from a upscale Olive Garden. It clearly is a chain restaurant. The pasta itself was good but the sauce was mainly just cream, it lacked any flavor. The wine was cheap, but they served me cold red wine in a chilled glass. Atmosphere: very nice and cozy inside. The crust could have used a bit more char but it was light and added just the right touch to compliment the fresh sauce, mozzarella and basil. The main choice there is obviously pizza and you can go from super eccentric pizzas to super regular pizzas, the choice is yours. Pastas looked really good too, but didn't have the chance to try it. There is a few other things, but not much other than starters. No matter what you choose, make sure you finish your meal with the biscotti desert. We went into the restaurant, and the food smelled delicious. Unfortunately, that is all we got to do was smell the food. We waited for our food for nearly an hour while everyone around us (locals) were served even though they all arrived after us. We left and paid for our drinks only, and the lady called the chef telling them not to make our order. An hour later, and they hadn't even started our food! Wondering if there was any homophobia or racism here, as we are a gay couple with matching engagement rings, and we are Caucasian American and full blooded Mexican. Love the pizza and lasagna, but there's a big difference in level of service between the siesta and dinner. During siesta people are lovely, willing to help you speak Spanish and in for a quick chat. During dinner it's all more chaotic and in a hurry; no time for translations and you have to ask for a extra drink, etc. Maybe it's because during diner it's mostly expats and tourists? Everything looks delicious on the menu, the prices reasonable in the range of 9-13€ and ingredients super fresh.
