Ran into this place on my last night in Madrid and had no idea what i was getting myself into but it did not disappoint! I ordered the strawberry lemonade (one of my favorite drinks) and the spicy rigatoni. The strawberry lemonade was fresh and refreshing, not overbearingly street like it is in the US. The rigatoni was 10/10. I forgot to tell them no mushrooms so I did spend quite a bit of time picking them out of my dish but the sauce, the cheese, the noodles all came together so perfectly. If I sat there long enough, I probably would've ate the whole dish but it was more than enough for me to take leftovers. It was a Tuesday night so it wasn't too busy, mainly families and two tops so the service was attentive and quick. We had the best meal yesterday. Natasha was a great server and took great care of us. Emanuel suggested a super wine to go with our meal of baked rigatoni with pepperoni and mushrooms. We also had the focaccia bread with fresh mozzarella. Then Natasha suggested their homemade tiramisu. I haven't had a good tiramisu in almost 15 years since my girlfriend made it for me. My first pizza place I've tried in Madrid! It's a little pricey compared to normal pizza places in the states, but you are paying for the ambiance. What I ordered: my boyfriend and I split the truffle pizza. It came with an over easy egg on top. The crust was thin, but delicious. I really enjoyed eating the crust with some of the delicious olive oil that was on the table. In total out bill was $17 for the pizza. It was a good experience, but I'm not over the moon for this place (hence the 4 stars). This would be a good date place! Make sure to get a reservation on weekends though because this place fills up quickly! read more

A very pleasant surprise for my family looking to eat something different after so many days of eating Spanish food. This is a legit Italian restaurant!! The pasta is made in-house and the pizza looks good. We didn't order pizzas, but they look good from other patrons. We ordered El Tazano appetizer which is a sampling of their cold cuts, cheese, olives; it was small but delicious! We also ordered the solomillo de la finca (sirloin steak with a side of pasta), linguine with red shrimps ( to-die-for!!), lasagne, and spaghetti bolognese for my little kiddie ( she ate the whole thing!). Desserts were good too. I recommend apple crumble and the biscotti with ice cream. It was such a good experience, my kids asked to come back the next night and we came back; we rarely repeat restaurants on our trips unless it's really good. On the second night I ordered a margerita. It was so good! Service is very attentive and our servers all speak English. Avoid this corporate chain restaurant!I ordered the sangria and it was not good at all, way too sweet and clearly made with the cheapest red wine available. Once I told the server I didn't like it, he didn't offer to do anything to remedy the situation and even still included it in the check, even though the glass was still full. Then there was the entree itself. I got the Estrella pasta which claims to be the recipe of a Michelin star chef, but I was not impressed at all. I also told the server I didn't like the dish, again he offered nothing to remedy the situation. When he brought the check and included the glass of sangria I didn't drink we asked for it to be taken off the check. At that point he was rude, then when he brought back the revised check was patronizingly over the top nice. Avoid this place!! read more

'Not Recommended, After 3 Visits to 2 Different Oven Mozzarella Bar Locations' We have gone to two different locations of Oven Mozzarella Bar restaurant, on three separate visits. One time was really good, and two other visits were DECIDEDLY BAD. They have unfortunately lost us as customers going forward. We initially went to the Oven Mozzarella Bar at Calle de Fuencarral, #74, in the happenin' Malasaña neighborhood, on a Saturday afternoon. We waited in line next to the small bar up front, and were eventually seated at a nice table, where we enjoyed good wine by the glass, tasty, piping-hot Italian pasta dishes, reasonably good service and a fun, bustling atmosphere. On the second occasion, we happened past the Oven Mozzarella Bar at Calle Gran Vía, #6, at mid-day and decided to swing in for lunch. The cast-iron skillet my wife's pasta dish came in was steaming hot, but as she started eating it became apparent that the food was cold in the middle. We told the waiter, but he simply turned around, went over and told 'em something through the kitchen window, and didn't so much as look back at us again. He then immediately disappeared, and a waitresss we hadn't seen before materialized, lingering along the back wall. No fresh, hot dish brought out to us, no offer to re-heat what my wife had already started, no complimentary dessert or anything - nada. And then, a minute later, we observed that the women sitting at the only other occupied table in the place complained about their meal and sent half of it back. Bad experience; the customer was 'not delighted.' A few weeks later, we invited some visitors from the U.S. to lunch at the Oven Mozzarella Bar location we'd originally been to, on Calle Fuencarral, in the Malasaña neighborhood. My wife and our two guests got their meals -- two pasta dishes and a pizza - but it immediately became clear that the waitress had never put my pasta order in. As they politely sat there waiting for me to be served, with their lunches getting cold, I encouraged everyone to start eating, and they did... and I sat there staring at the waitress for ten minutes, drumming my fingers on the table, before mine came. She eventually slid the dish in front of me, with a vacant look on her face, and walked away. No apology, nor the slightest acknowledgement of the screw-up. On top of that, the basket of hot, fresh breads that we'd ordered - a menu item that you have to pay for, and which we were looking forward to having with saucy Italian food - never came. After asking again for the bread, that finally showed up, as three-fourths of us - the three who'd actually gotten the food they'd ordered - were finishing their meals. There was never the slightest apology, no offer to take my lunch off the bill or bring a free dessert. Being slighted and served badly - never putting my order in! - is bad enough, but when it's a moderately pricey spot, which Oven Mozzarella Bar is, that's inexcusable. We're in Madrid for another month at this point, and eat out often, but we will never go back to any of the Oven Mozzarella bar locations. You would be well advised to stay away as well. I dont like to make assumption but This is what exactly happened, we came on time said hello with a smile sat down and they handed the menu for us and thats it, we took 20 mins to decide what to order and after that I was trying to call the waitress to order she just kept saying one moment speak on her mic with someone, two times same response, the other one just ignored me when I called her, and the guy who welcomed us and took us to our table never came to us again... a nice guy next to our table called the waitress and she immigrated ran to him because she thought he wanted something but no actually he told her that I was sitting and calling for nearly 30 mins and everyone kept ignoring me I thanked the guy for helping out and then the waitress came and wanted for me to pay?! and I cant let this one slide because she can see on the screen what we ordered..... I told her we didn't even order yet... just awful seriously. they were working hard on every single table but not looking or coming to mine at all... oh and the funny thing that when the waitress felt stupid for wanting us to pay for nothing she called another nice Indian waitress who helped us and took our order with such a nice attitude. When I asked for their error to be corrected, their only offer was to refund me in Euro, but the price they should have charged. I was REALLY craving some pizza and Oven was conveniently located near a cute shopping street. My friend and I split the caprese to start, and immediately the waiter suggested to order some bread to accompany the dish to balance it out. I've never been one to turn down bread so we went with his suggestion. The caprese was great, but I was sadly a little let down by the pizza. It was pretty oily (moreso than average) and somehow also quite bland. My friend had some sort of pasta dish that was also not anything spectacular. This was a good break from the tapas and paella binges we were on. A friend of mine had recommended this place to us and the menu did look pretty good. We didn't have any reservations, but the server, Carlos, provided us with a table fairly quickly. We ordered the ceviche, mushroom truffle pappardelle, cosmopolitan pizza, and the biscotti al horno. Overall, the food was alright and nothing special (3 stars), but Carlos was very friendly and always smiling. He would check in on us and give us feedback on the menu and even things to do in Madrid. Food: We shared a Capri Salad and a Margarita pizza. The salad was nice and refreshing without having too much cheese in it. The pizza crust was great, but I would have preferred a little more sauce and a little less cheese. Drink: Mojito was great (a little on the sweet side), but the Gin & Tonic was something special. Our server came out with a large goblet of ice, a bottle of Bombay Sapphire gin, and a bottle of tonic water. He started pouring the gin into the goblet and told us to let him know when we thought there was enough gin in the glass. He then topped it off with the tonic. It was a pretty impressive presentation. Service: Quite pleasant despite our lack of all but the most basic Spanish. Certainly above average. Place was packed, 15 min wait so we decided to give it a shot. Nice modern design, 4 waiters and 2 maybe 3 kitchen staff. But let me just say, they were a well oiled machine. Ordered a pizza for the kids, mushroom risotto and pasta plate and a half basket of bread. Food came out pretty quick even with the amount of people in the restaurant. Pizza was spot on, actually really good crust and flavor. Pasta as well was a surprise and had just the right amount of sauce. Risotto had great flavor, unfortunately the rice was undercooked. Stopped in here after a whirlwind few hours of shopping, it did not disappoint. It is a bit pricey but worth it! Pro tip: if you are looking for a glass of wine but don't want to pay upwards of 8-9€ for a glass of wine, in fine print at the bottom of the drinks menu, you have the option of getting vino de la casa or the house wine for a bargain price of 2.50€! It was good and went nicely with our meal. My aunt and I shared the burrata with truffle, tomatoes and rocket! It was amazing! I'm not usually into the texture of burrata but this was just the right amount of soft and creamy put together. The rocket and tomato combination really added a fresh flavor to the dish. The truffle is definitely not lacking in this dish, I was really pleased with how much they gave us for 11€! It is a large dish so sharing was a perfect idea. Also, they will offer to bring you bread--accept that offer! The basket was full of bread and it was great to mop up the excess truffle/ tomato residue and just to eat it all together in general. If you happen to find yourself in this touristy area and you feel like being fancy, definitely pop in here! Also, the bathrooms and upstairs are so cute so you should check that out as well! read more
