Service took a while but we just went next door to Heidi's (not on Yelp for some reason, so I will add photos from that! If you bring your receipt from taco boom over, you get a discount. Don't forget to do that!) so I assume they're somehow connected. Hard to tell. (Do not recommend the elote in a cup over there but the ice cream I'm still dreaming about! The dining area was outside but it was like a pleasant picnic. Wouldn't mind coming back and it's close to home. My partner went for the burrito Diablo and quit talking to me if that tells you anything. I got the taco chignon special and it was quite filling. Quick and easy stop in Chicago!

We were bummed but searched around for options in the area. And this place popped up. We headed over here, and ordered different items such as the consume, a carne en su jugo combo, and three quesabirria tacos. The food came out pretty quickly, but I don't feel like it was that great. I really liked the carne en su jugo but I feel like the tacos were bland. I had higher expectations for sure. Also, to make matters worse, the lady serving us picked up the plates at the end of the table slantedly and the grease from the Birria tacos spilled onto my new pants. She didn't seem very apologetic about it other than just her grabbing a wet paper towel for me to dab on it. I honestly didn't feel the best about tipping afterwards, but I know mistakes happen. It just wasn't a great feeling eating subpar food and then getting grease on new clothes not by your fault. I was a bit shocked when the total came out to $41+ without the tip. I wouldn't really go out of my way to return here.

I ordered the Quesabirria Taco Combo which included 3 tacos, the soup and a side of Coca Cola with a lime. The birria tacos had goat meat, cheese, cilantro, and onion. The goat meat was so tender and juicy. The tortilla was cooked to perfection. It was soft but the edges were crisp. There were two choices of sauces: red and green. The red seemed to be a bit of a dry hot while the green is a bit spicy but more flavorful. When combining the taco with the sauce and dipping it in the soup it's just the most amazing taste ever. I left with a full belly. The cashier was nice and made sure we got our meals in a timely manner.

Didn't have to stand around eating, which is a big plus for a truck. The people working there were super nice and friendly. I ordered four tacos, two cabeza and two asada. They came out fast and hot, nice and crispy, and loaded with meat. The cabeza was tender, delicious, soft and full of flavor. But the asada... yeah, that was the one. Tender, juicy, really well seasoned, and you get that slight char that gives it extra flavor. Then the green salsa... that's what took it up. Not too spicy, but packed with flavor. It adds this fresh, tangy kick that cuts through the richness of the meat and brings everything together. With the asada, it just works, you get that smoky, savory bite from the meat and then the salsa comes in and brightens it up. Makes you go right back for the next bite. Simple, but done right. I'd come back for those asada tacos easy.

Now that they are in the building at 47th and Kostner we decided to try them to go. We ordered the asada and pastor tacos. My wife doesn't eat pork and they had the pastor mixed in with the asada tacos on the same plate!!! The asada and pastor tacos are plain with no flavor. The meat tastes like it was frozen from the supermarket and had a lot of fat. The meat is definitely not grilled and the pastor is not authentic from a trompo! The salsas are mediocre. There was another taqueria at this location and this place is no different. We try to support local businesses in the area but when they're terrible I go elsewhere.
