I've seen Taco boom a few times as I drive by and decided to give them a try. The parking is limited but was told I can park next door. Menu is posted outside and I went with the al pastor tacos. After you order, you need to go around the other side to pickup. There is no indoor seating and only outside. The taco's are small but the flavor is rich and seasoned. I'm a gremlin and ate all the food before taking a picture but what a pleasant surprise this restaurant was! My partner wanted a quick bite, suggested Taco Bell. About kicked her out of the car, so we decided on taco boom. The flavor was incredible! Service took a while but we just went next door to Heidi's (not on Yelp for some reason, so I will add photos from that! If you bring your receipt from taco boom over, you get a discount. Don't forget to do that!) so I assume they're somehow connected. Hard to tell. (Do not recommend the elote in a cup over there but the ice cream I'm still dreaming about! I ordered a lg consume preparado and a stk burrito for me & my son to share. Everything, no sour cream on the burrito. Honestly, I just had the consume and my son had a quarter of the burrito. Both my son & I shared the consume bcuz it was that good; they added chopped onions, cilantro and it had little stringy pieces of birria in it, it was just soooo delicious. Whoa mama, it was good! My bf got 2 carne asada tacos and it was the quesabirria pizza for me. First, the tacos. Large pieces of steak, juicy, well seasoned and not at all tough. I was pretty impressed and they had different variations for the steak tacos. Now the pizza. SO MUCH MEAT! Juicy and tender, loaded onto the tortillas that are used as "crust". The piece was very reasonable because one of the 4 pieces they cut it into easily had double the meat of a standard taco filling anywhere else! Just enough spice to give it a little kick and I didn't find it overly salty which is usually an issue for me at most places. The consomme comes in a cup with a lid and a piece of lime. This was also so tasty that I ended up drinking what was left like a regular soup. My suggestion is def don't pass on a birria product and ask for an extra lime or 2, trust me! read more

I wasn't impressed nor dissatisfied with my visit here. To their benefit I didn't consume their birria until one day after I purchased it so take my opinion with a grain of salt as it wasn't fresh. The birria smelled amazing but the flavor was sort of muted for lack of a better word. The chicken taco had great seasoning & tbh tbh it's one of the best & only corn tortillas I like. The food is made to order so be prepared to wait. I like the price points because everyone in your family can get something here & you'd still be well under $50 which is rare especially downtown. He completely over charged me telling me that he couldn't get the cart out by me for family reasons and told me that it would be cheaper just to have them bring it catering style. Still over charged me. Brings me a a cup of Quacamole for 50 people and I had to warm up my own tortillas at my own party and the beans were just thrown in a tin not even mashed up just whole beans. I call him to complain and tells me that how everything comes and tells me he'll drop off a little more Quacamole but I'll probably just complain about that so whats the point. Very rude and then complained to me that he didn't even open his truck that day to complete my order which was on him because he knew he had a catering order for that day so why not have someone else open ur truck for u...ridiculous. This more than hit the spot! The quesabirrias are so good, the crunch of the tortilla, the tender meat and the cheese are a perfect blend of deliciousness! Add some lime to the consomé and dip your quesabirria or just sip it between bites! Boom Boom out go the Lights ! Boom Boom was on my food bucket list and I made it ! I drove by the location on 47th & Cicero on my way to the 79th & Lawndale location . It's a food truck in a parking lot . They tell me the hours at the Lawndale location are 12-8 , 7 days a week and 4-11 at the Cicero & 47th street location.
