The quality and freshness of the crab here is absolutely incredible. I've heard good things about the Flash Crabcake Co. The owner - Jeffrey Gordon (not to be confused with "FLASH" Gordon - savior of the universe), made sure to let me know something about the truck. His wife doesn't consider them to be in the food truck business, but rather, a Crabcake restaurant on wheels! That really stuck out to me because I can see the owners want to stick out from the crowd. The energy and passion that is put into the originality and quality of the items shines. This place deserves the stardom and recognition it has received. Definitely a Maryland classic and hometown staple. It was a beautiful night to encounter this gem in Owings Mills tonight. Unlike some in the restaurant industry, these owners did not use Covid as an excuse for declining quality and increasing prices. I really wanted to love Flash crabcakes! That is the truth. I found out about Flash while browsing on Yelp, weeks before the TV appearance. After seeing good looking crabcake photos and a really high Yelp rating, I started stalking its Facebook account for the daily schedule. "When is this food truck heading my way???!" "Oh they're at Hopkins today!! I can Uber!!!" Finally, found it parked Downtown. I was very excited!! It was a beautifullllll day!! There was a short line, so had to wait a little. The owner was really friendly, he chatted with the customers and very proud of his business. I didn't mind the wait and I was happy to see a passionate business owner. He offered samples of his crabcake and cream of crab soup. I already had high expectations even before tasting it for the first time. When I had the sample crabcake, I was NOT blown away. :( Tried the sample cream of crab soup next and THAT was GREAT!! Still, I came for the crabcakes, so I still bought 2 orders of All Lump Crabcake with Crackers $13x2 for my husband and I. After eating, we were really disappointed because for $13, it was small and it was not "All Lump". I've also had better tasting homemade crabcakes. I just somehow expected it to be something special. I have had a lot of crabcakes from different "BEST" crabcake restaurants in Baltimore to Annapolis. I was hoping that I was finally going to find THE BEST, but I was wrong. As for Flash, I'd still go and buy its cream of crab soup in the future. I'd be happy to pay $10 for a bowl. read more

Yum who knew some of the most delicious crab cakes in the city come from a food truck?!? The owners are so friendly and will give you a sample if you are having trouble deciding. I ended up going with the crab cake and soup together which was pretty interesting. 35 dollars for a small cake and a bowl of soup. Completely disappointed. Not worth the money.. First of all the cracked was burned on the bottom. Second of all the crab was not lump, seemed like it was flakes from the leg and claw. The soup was ok but big peices of celery were almost impossible to eat, very stringy. We found the food truck! It was located near the downtown convention center. The lady was so sweet and her Baltimore charm oozed out as she explained her two featured items. Omg! My neiborhood has food truck Friday every week. Because I don't eat lunch during school I'm always starving and look forward to trying different foods every Friday. This place makes some of the best, most Maryland style of crab cakes and crab soup period. I like to visit G&Ms and they make some fabulous crab cakes, but I don't consider them a true Maryland style crabcake. Flash makes crab cakes and crab soup like my family did growing up when a bushel of crabs could be had for $40 or less. (10/30/2014) Got the 6 oz. "Super" Lump Crab Cake Sandwich. "Super", some designation they made up, seems to be a mix of lump (not jumbo), backfin, and claw. Cake was pretty wet on the inside, significant seasoned breadcrumb filler, lots of dried parsley, somewhat oversalted. Came on Martin's dinner potato roll, which was kind of small and a few shreds of iceberg. OK for $11, but better choices out there. read more

Love these people! Aside from the free samples and DELICIOUS food (their crab-asparagus soup is excellent, as are their crabcakes), they are incredibly sweet! I had a friend in town who is vegetarian 99% of the time, but she wanted to try a Maryland crabcake, so I messaged Flash crabcake to see where they'd be that weekend - they got back to me in less than an hour, and when my friend came in, they set aside an order specifically for us and even threw in an extra crabcake. The cakes here are dense and delicious and clearly made with a lot of crab. Coupled with very nice people who are justifiably proud of an extraordinary crab cake and bisque at a remarkable price. Honest food deserves honest business. Crab cake that's packed full of crab at a reasonable price. Jeff the owner is a sweetheart and he deserves every bit of a good review. As we were just chomping down on his crab cake sandwiches and a quart of crab chowder (which was great btw), he came out and just talked to us, gave us napkins and even some chopped watermelon for a little something extra.
