The only nice thing about this place was the host lady. Once seated to our table we found the sushi fishy, lo mein was bland and rubbery, and jello hard. The worst of it all was this waitress probably in her 20s, glasses, long hair. She was rolling her eyes with everything we said, slamming the bills down while we were still eating, hovering over us, checking constantly to pick up the bill WHILE WE WERE STILL EATING. Mind you we were only here for about 30mins start to finish. We walk out after we pay are bill and she flags us down disgruntled asking why no tip. Our server was a young girl with glasses and it took her 15 mins to even get our drinks when she finally came back my sprite had no flavor. The food is great along with the atmosphere. However, I witnessed something horrible. I was sitting with my wife enjoying my meal when the waitress that was waiting on us was also waiting on an obvious gay couple. We were treated with kindness and respect, and the two young women were treated horribly. The waitress was rude and hateful to them. After they were done eating, they were told to leave immediately, the waitress told them that they needed the table because a big family was waiting. The restaurant wasn't even all that busy and there was NO ONE waiting. And even if there were people waiting, there were plenty of big tables. It was disgusting and gross how they were treated and that is exactly what I told the waitress. And I took the tips back. I wish I would have got the waitresses name, I would have put her on blast. This is my family's favorite buffet to visit. They have a great selection of fresh sushi, a stir fry station, and a salad bar to round out the meal. A favorite definitely seems to be the ice cream station. As with any buffet go when it's busy for the freshest food. Service is always quick and friendly. Some things were good... like the fried rice, general Tso chicken, chicken wings, boiled shrimp, shrimp & zucchini, chicken & Broccoli,mini eclairs, tiramisu, the ice cream To me, the sushi looked too unappetizing to even touch ( yes I eat buffet sushi). It's kinda food. Not much flavor or zing. A few of the sushi rolls are ok, but all in all, the most flavorful things were the drinks. I admit, everything looks fresh, tasted fresh to the palate, but it had about the same flavor as just plain old white bread. Hardly any Zing, zap or bravado what so ever. They have crab legs on Friday nights (12.99) and they were some of the best ones I have tried... at a buffet. Some of them were warm and some of the flock came out cold, of course much better served warm. It was worth the money just for the crab. The sushi was nice as well. Paying for bills I came across the famous Value Pack envelope with many business inserts. It had been a while since I practiced gluttony at the buffet level so I said to myself, self, let's roll to the Chinese Buffet at a discount price. Due to Rona, many Chinese places have been closed so it was shocking to see this place open to pre-Rona status. The restaurant is located next to Highway 78 and there is plenty of parking in the front. As you enter, you're seated by a host and you see the different islands of food. The restrooms are located in the far right side of the building facing the food. The host places the drink order for your server and you are free to get your gluttony on with all of the options. You can place food on your own plate and most everyone had a mask on while getting food. The options included peel shrimp, soups, broccoli and beef, sushi, egg rolls, General Tsao chicken, classic, tons of desserts and etc., etc. etc. The food and service was ok and overall clean. Not a good place to eat to much negativity at this place. I went to eat there twice, first time I noticed waiter being rude to Mexican customers for not getting tipped. Second time I noticed one of the Asian waitresses have two fingers in a ladies drink after that never went back. Flaming Buffet Beware Went there with a Senior Living Group of 12 today at 11. It was not crowded, they just opened. I found the staff, including young man stating he is the manager, to be rude even hostile. Our waiter had delivered drinks to the other 2 tables in our group. He passed by us and I stopped him and explained to him that I & 1 person with me wanted water and would like to order from the lunch Menu. I told him we would like to go ahead and place the order as the elder lady I was with needed to use the restroom. He said "LATER" and walked away. We preceeded to the ladies room since he had no time for us. Came back and set for a while. I noticed he was setting behind us eatting from one of the small metal pans you see on buffet tables. After a bit the 87 year old lady I was with stopped another employee to inquire if someone would be taking our order. She's hungry. He said yes and walked a way. Sometime later our waiter took our order. I explained what we wanted. I wanted the lunch Orange Chicken, Fried Rice, Egg Drop Soup and egg roll. She wanted lo mein instead of chow mein with wonton soup and egg roll. I explained due to cancer her bones are brittle and she needed the soft noodles not the hard ones. He agreed to substitute lo for chow mein. But insisted its either soup or egg roll not both that will come with our meals. I show him the menu where it clearly states & egg roll and my phone where I had downloaded the menu and it also states soup & egg roll. He says its not and. Then asked if we wanted to speak to the manager because he can't bring us both. The young man came and stated its soup or egg roll and not both. I show him both the paper menu and one online. He says its a misprint, its one or other. I once again politely point out the & sign. He says ok we will do it this time but she can't sub lo mein for chow mein and must order from dinner menu to get lo mein. Let me note they sub for her on our last visit with no issue but over charged her for a egg roll. So she orders the dinner lo mein ($7.85). She didn't understand why they couldn't bring her a cup of wonton and egg roll if she orders one. They kept telling her they can't. I place my order to go (knowing the others in our group would like to leave shortly after I would probably get mine). Mine was lunch special orange chicken with egg drop and egg roll. I told them add another egg roll and wonton on my bill for her. It takes like 30-45 minutes for her order to come. A huge plate of lo mein, she doesn't eat much & its like 4 meals worth for her. Another 15 minutes or more for mine to arrive. I notice hers was missing the egg roll, I informed our waiter. He replied "I knows nothing about egg roll" as he walks on by She politely ask that he talk to the manager who does know about egg roll. The manager came and asked if we asked to talk to him. I just tell him the egg roll is missing, he left then brought her a egg roll in a bowl. Mine had just 1 egg roll so I know they didnt just put it in my box. Hers tasted funny. Someone in our group offered to go to the buffett and got her wonton soup. I told the manager as he walks by to add it to my check. My $6.99 lunch became $9.95. My orange chicken was full of hot peppers hipeful not their spit. Peppers, My guess retaliation for challenging them. $10 might not seem like a lot to others, it is to me. We work hard for every dollar we have. I am not asking for anything Im not paying for and I treat everyone with respect. I deserve the same. Mostly, I'm Not happy to pay for such rude treatment. The group looks forward to these lunch outings and having a great visit with one another. Staff ruined it with hostile attitudes. The hostile way they were treated at this place was despicable. She wasnt the only one they were rude to. It would have been easier to order buffett and get what she wanted for the price but with their food inspection score being low and frequently shut down due to Buffet temp I was willing to wait for fresh food to avoid illness. They also told us the senior discount doesn't apply. Funny the sign up front doesnt say not lunch menu or dinner menu or only for buffett or not buffet. Seems like they are not senior friendly. They got an extra few bucks off me, they can laugh all the way to the bank while they lost a regular bus full of customers that are going else where. This restaurant was recently shut down in February due to many health code violations and unfortunately due to my willingness to give this place a second chance, I was absolutely DISGUSTED at what I saw. Not only is this establishment DIRTY but the employees are absolutely horrendous as well. There's no reason why a grown ass woman shouldn't wash their hands before exiting the bathroom. Also, there is NO exception as to why a diaper should get changed at a table where OTHER people sitting and eating their food can see. When this issue was brought up to the manager, he didn't see anything wrong with a shitty diaper being all over his restaurant seats in the midst of other customers. Not only is it a health violation, but he did not even care. He also was VERY rude about it when he came back to our table to talk to us about it, insinuating that we could not afford our meals. The fried shrimp was beyond salty. Egg rolls and spring rolls were very bad. The clams are bland, i think they just blanch them through hot water. The crawfish was the worst of all. Not only it was very salty and old but they are smelly. Those crawfish must be recook over and over for days. Honestly i've been to jumbo buffet, and king buffet. I knew this place was SHUTDOWN once by Garland Health Department, shocked to learned it was their 4th times! It had been my favorite buffet because it's close to home, price is right, and I love oysters! And so they have new management, most likely their relative, and same employees. The head waitress to the right wing has a major attitude problem towards customers! The girl that sat us to the table said, "you made it just 5 minutes before dinner price. If you eat dinner item, we'll charge you dinner price instead of lunch." We were fine with that. The head waitress saw that we had ate some "dinner" items, she scolded at us like we freeloading or cheating the lunch price for dinner! I was so shocked! The bad reviews are justified for this place. The quality of food and service given here is the worst I've ever experienced. For the first round of food, my father brought 7 pieces of oysters to the table. After taking the first bite, it was disgusting. It was not fresh and had a terrible odor to it. We put the remaining 6 to the side to be discarded. We ordered an iced tea and not to our surprise, it tasted like water. We told our waiter that we didn't want the tea and wanted to switch it out with an iced water instead. After a very disappointing dinner, we received our check and the waiter said we had to go up to the front desk to have the iced tea removed from our bill. As I approached the owner, who I presume to be, told me that they could remove the iced tea and said, "Next time don't waste the oysters". I was flabbergasted. I told him, "Your oysters were disgusting and only six pieces were thrown away. If you are going to be that petty over six pieces, I'll pay for them." My mom wanted to come here for her birthday after seeing an ad in the mail. I really wanted to keep an open mind about this place, but when the fried food isn't even good, there's a problem. It's hard to find a decent buffet place because, every dish has to be good. And it's not. There was "sushi" (note the ""), a variety of fried seafood, fried chicken, salad bar, fruits, and desserts. I can't even remember one thing that stood out to me. I just ate it and left. I probably should not have even touched the "sushi". It looked bland and dull, like they went through a day of photo shooting for Value Pack. It tasted like it too. I am probably being a little harsh, but at least try to focus on making the dishes decent. At least Japan House has decent sushi. If you're going to make a Chinese buffet, have some ducks hanging!
