Adding to an original review I'd written below, I wanted to add that the ambience is always festive with people enjoying themselves; it doesn't hurt that the vibe is cozy and cool, along with the yummy food. Personally, I can't get enough of their BBQ! My original review on Google: I was just looking for some late night food, to go, and I fell on this delight! One of those unexpected great finds that you're thrilled to have made, I ordered several BBQ items and a House Spicy Pot, which did not skimp on ingredients, (which sometimes, unfortunately, occurs at other restaurants), and then a Red Bean Paste Pudding which came with a really luscious green tea ice cream. It's been a long time since I enjoyed a meal so much, and so affordable! I was surprised. Everything was delicious, and I just want to return asap, truly. On top of that, the smiling gentleman who took care of me, who was at the register, as well, was very welcoming and brought me a dish of warm salted peanuts while I waited. Very nice. Chinese BBQ is becoming more accessible in the Bay Area and I'm glad there is one in the Peninsula so I don't have to always drive down to the South Bay. This restaurant is next to a couple other Chinese restaurants that I frequent so I've been wanting to get it for awhile. The place itself is surprisingly roomy and I quite like the simple but clean decorations. For parking you do have to find on the streets but usually I can find some nearby. There is a BBQ warmer on the table but I don't think they use it often because it is extra cost for them. You order through the iPad thingy and it's convenient but you have to order alcoholic drinks through the waitresses. Foodwise it's decent BBQ. I liked most of the BBQ items especially the lamb kebab. They have the regular lamb kebabs and the willow lamb kebab and although I enjoyed the willow one in China I don't recommend it here as it's dry and hard. The chicken heart is overly done so not tender enough and chicken skin is also overdone. I actually liked the beef tripe appetizer and overall it's a good place to come by when I miss my Chinese BBQ. The service is attentive and both waitresses are nice and efficient so no complaints here. Oh even though this is a Chinese BBQ place but maybe because more people know about takitori so the decoration is somewhat Japanese but I don't think it's necessary. read more

My friends and I came here for dinner as we were able to make same day reservations. They have QR code for you to scan and order the food. You don't have the option of making it at the table, so someone will bring it out for you. It was a little misleading as there was a grill on the table. Some of the orders comes with five skewers so make sure you read it before you order or you'll end up with a lot of food . The food here was good but it seems like they overly seasoned everything from the meat to the oysters. The meat has too much salt and the oysters were packed with garlic and I mean packed. I was looking for a spot in the San Bruno area and came across this place. When you're seated, they provide an iPad for ordering, so the process involves minimal human interaction. The seating includes storage compartments where you can place your belongings to avoid them smelling like smoke. I was surprised to find that their grill wasn't working. Everything we ordered came already cooked, so keep in mind that you won't be grilling your own food here--it's more about enjoying the prepared dishes. We came by on a Saturday evening and were seated right away. Plenty of street parking so we didn't have to park and walk so far. Ambiance: 10/10 The restaurant itself is very spacious inside with 12 tables. Each long table is separated by a clear divider in between and there are 2 tables at the end that seats only 2 people. Decor is super modern, casual, and eye catching! Service: 8/10 Lacking. Not much interaction from the staff except saying thank you and have a nice day lol. Food: 7/10 Our skewers came out already grilled and served on a wooden board instead of actually having to grill it on our own like other reviews :( Ordering process is pretty easy: scan the QR code, send the order in (together or individually), and pay the bill as a table. PSA: "2 pcs" means 2 skewers per order! I thought it meant 2 pieces of meat so ended up ordering x2 of everything so we ended up with 4 skewers per order :( Uni ajitsuke tamago: Fresh uni on top of soy marinated eggs. Squeeze that lemon on top; trust me, you'll thank me later. Scallop butter yaki (mushrooms): This was delicious and yes, squeeze that lemon all over too because it'll help balance out that buttery flavor! Skewers: They have a bunch of variety from chicken, beef, pork, to vegetables! VERY limited selection of seafood though so that was disappointing. Would NOT recommend: chicken gristle (too fibrous, hard, and rubbery), tori kawa (too sweet, it ruined my appetite), and hotate (too sweet). This new grilled meats place along El Camino piqued my carnivore curiosity. On a weekday around 6pm, the place was totally empty. Street parking is fair. It took us a while to decide what to order from their online menu. I think they could make their descriptions better, with more details about what each item is. Their pictures are also misleading and they should specify how many skewers you're getting in your order because some pictures will show two skewers but in actuality, you just get one. We order a bunch of skewers to try and most of them tasted similar. The beef tongue was particularly chewy, which was bad. The lamb skewers tasted real nice, a little spicy. Don't bother with the Taiwanese sausage which is basically like a regular Chinese sausage but sweeter and fattier. The deep fried eggplant was interesting as I've never seen anything look like fried fingers before. The sweet Thai chili sauce was a little too sweet for me and I would've liked to see this with melted cheese. The grilled oysters packed a ton of garlicky goodness but expensive for $3 each. If you're a tripe fan, you gotta order their house beef tripe shreds $8.95. Lastly the seafood stir fried vermicelli $14.95 was darn tasty but I wash it wasn't so expensive for the amount we got. I really need to work on making a better version at home that doesn't result in the entire thing clumping together. Service was very good, especially since we were the only people there. The restaurant is a little on the small side and maybe would be loud if there were more people around. Food takes a little bit of time to arrive from the kitchen. What really threw me off was that you don't cook your own skewers, even though you're seated at tables with a grill in place. Total bill was $80.23 read more

I ordered a whole bunch of skews from here for take out and in general the food quality was good. However it took a long time for it to be ready even though it was late at night and it wasn't all that busy. We waited extra 40min past time of when it was supposed to be ready. But staff felt really bad and gave us some free drinks while we waited. I will probably come back and give it a try again, but maybe not take out. read more

Food is good and the best part is no wait! You order off the iPad and you can kind of hear the ding go off in the kitchen. The food is pretty quick and it's delicious. I liked this place. Good vibes. Clean. Not a lot of tables, but fairly spacious. This place is great for groups! Bring your friends and family for a good time. This place is a little confusing though because I think they go by 2 names - Flame BBQ and Ai Grill. The food was pretty good, flavorful. Their ingredients are fairly fresh. Service was good. They brought out our items at a reasonable pace. Price is decent. One thing that this place does poorly is that they have poor ventilation. For a grill place, good ventilation is highly important, and it got quite stuffy in there at some point. Parking can be difficult, as it's on the Main Street. Best skewers in the Bay Area!! This place is even better than Prime BBQ in San Mateo, which is also pretty good already. Value for amount and quality of food was superb and service was super friendly. We enjoyed every single dish that we ordered between 4 people and tried majority of the menu items. I loved that this restaurant offers the option to cook at the table or have the dishes prepared in the kitchen and brought out to you. We chose the already-cooked option since we were hungry and ready to dive in! However, if you're not in a rush and enjoy taking your time with friends and family, cooking at the table seems like a really fun experience too. The food was incredible--all the meats were so fresh and well-seasoned! I was impressed by the variety of meat and veggie selections. We had ribeye, lamb, tendon, A choy, Enoki mushrooms, duck breasts, chicken skin, pork belly, and oysters. My absolute favorites were the oysters, Enoki mushrooms, pork belly, chicken skin, and ribeye. The pork belly and chicken skin were perfectly crispy, the oysters were cooked to perfection, and the mushrooms and ribeye were seasoned beautifully. To top it off, the owner surprised us with a complimentary plate of beef skewers, which was such a thoughtful gesture. He was so kind, and it made our experience even more memorable. Originally wanted Korean bbq across the street, but they had a long wait. Came to flame as they had a 15 minute wait. Like stated before the food is already cooked but later a couple next to us was able to use the grill so I don't even understand why no one else was able to. The food was okay. The best thing I had there was the cucumber salad, beef skewers, and the chicken skin. Everything was ok the server didn't interact which isn't a huge issue for me, but we were brought a dish that we didn't order and when we let her know she immediately said "Yes you did" now mind you, you order on an iPad and it adds things that you order, in order and we were waiting on three orders. The cook came an apologized. The server never apologized, came out with a printed ticket to confirm the last three items we ordered, and gave the iPad back turned off. Didn't ask if we wanted to order anything else. It was shocking to say the least. I do not recommend. The food doesn't match the nasty attitude of the server. We spent $200 for very mediocre food and service. They don't sell alcohol if you wanted a drink, no hot tea, and pick and choose who is allowed to use the grills at a bbq place. They also have auto gratuity so maybe that's why the server was so nasty. Luckily my child was with me otherwise the interaction would have been very different. Clean set up with the choice to use the charcoal grill (you have to order specific skewers for it). Got another one for you peeps!!!! This time this gem of a restaurant is all about skewers... not just ordinary skewers but amazing flavorful skewers that make your mouth water. This skewer place is definitely the best skewer restaurant I've tried in the bay area! Besides the traditional skewers, they have a ton of steak and Japanese skewer options, and they taste AMAZINGLY GOOD. My favorites are the Wagyu steak served with wasabi and sea salt, and the scallop butter Yaki. I've never tried steak served with wasabi before, and this combination is taking steak to the next level. And the butter in the scallop yaki was just making us wanting to order more plates coz it tastes wonderful. And all other food we ordered were super awesome. Unlike many other skewer places, all their skewers taste differently, which was another thing that made this restaurant stand out. First off, I thought we would be grilling our food so I came prepared to smell like bbq. All the dishes we ordered were done in the back and brought out cooked. I thought the point was bbq? Oh well, they were nice enough and brought each dish to the table. It would have been nice if they told us which skewer it was since they all look alike! I was also disappointed that some items were only 1 skewer then the picture showed two skewers. It would be helpful if that was noted by the item. You order all items off an online menu. The item I liked best was the garlic oyster. Lots of garlic that I tried to use as a sauce for my skewers. The fried eggplant was fun but it didn't look like a whole eggplant like the menu. Lots of strips of eggplant with a light glaze of thai chili sauce. Think of it as a bloomin onion! The beef tongue (which looked like several slices on the menu but in reality was just 3 pieces on a skewer) was a bit tough. First time here. It was after 10pm and nothing much was opened near by soy friend and I decided to give this place a try. We ordered a couple items cuz we mainly wanted to have a drink and chat. There were 3 other parties beside us. One staff at the inside cooking and one outside. Service was at the right pace. Not too fast nor slow. Everything we ordered was good except the chicken skin which was way too crispy. If it was less crispy it would've been tasty. The only thing my friend complained about this place was the price for bottle beer. It was $6 per bottle which he thought was pricey. I have a recommendation for the owner and that is he should have jar beer promotion. I think customers will order more beer and food this way. Plenty of street parking. Unfortunately, like others have mentioned, the flavors became repetitive after a while due to the same seasoning being used on everything. The meat and tendon skewers tasted more like meat and fat, with little to no actual tendon. The highlight of the meal was probably the crispy chicken skin. The oyster had tons of yummy garlic but could be cooked/fried a bit more. The staff was friendly, though they were primarily busy grilling in the back. The skewers had a distinct propane flavor. They kindly grilled the chicken in the back, as doing it ourselves would have been too time-consuming due to the large cuts. The fried ice cream coating was terrible. read more
