I was looking for a spot in the San Bruno area and came across this place. When you're seated, they provide an iPad for ordering, so the process involves minimal human interaction. The seating includes storage compartments where you can place your belongings to avoid them smelling like smoke. I was surprised to find that their grill wasn't working. Everything we ordered came already cooked, so keep in mind that you won't be grilling your own food here--it's more about enjoying the prepared dishes. This is a great spot to visit with friends and enjoy some skewers. Parking can be a bit tricky, but you should be able to find a spot within two or three blocks.

We came by on a Saturday evening and were seated right away. Plenty of street parking so we didn't have to park and walk so far. Ambiance: 10/10 The restaurant itself is very spacious inside with 12 tables. Each long table is separated by a clear divider in between and there are 2 tables at the end that seats only 2 people. Decor is super modern, casual, and eye catching! Service: 8/10 Lacking. Not much interaction from the staff except saying thank you and have a nice day lol. Food: 7/10 Our skewers came out already grilled and served on a wooden board instead of actually having to grill it on our own like other reviews :( Ordering process is pretty easy: scan the QR code, send the order in (together or individually), and pay the bill as a table. PSA: "2 pcs" means 2 skewers per order! I thought it meant 2 pieces of meat so ended up ordering x2 of everything so we ended up with 4 skewers per order :( Uni ajitsuke tamago: Fresh uni on top of soy marinated eggs. Squeeze that lemon on top; trust me, you'll thank me later. Scallop butter yaki (mushrooms): This was delicious and yes, squeeze that lemon all over too because it'll help balance out that buttery flavor! Skewers: They have a bunch of variety from chicken, beef, pork, to vegetables! VERY limited selection of seafood though so that was disappointing. Would NOT recommend: chicken gristle (too fibrous, hard, and rubbery), tori kawa (too sweet, it ruined my appetite), and hotate (too sweet). Basically any items with their yakitori sauce bc they overdo it and the skewers get way too sweet.

This new grilled meats place along El Camino piqued my carnivore curiosity. On a weekday around 6pm, the place was totally empty. Street parking is fair. It took us a while to decide what to order from their online menu. I think they could make their descriptions better, with more details about what each item is. Their pictures are also misleading and they should specify how many skewers you're getting in your order because some pictures will show two skewers but in actuality, you just get one. We order a bunch of skewers to try and most of them tasted similar. The beef tongue was particularly chewy, which was bad. The lamb skewers tasted real nice, a little spicy. Don't bother with the Taiwanese sausage which is basically like a regular Chinese sausage but sweeter and fattier. The deep fried eggplant was interesting as I've never seen anything look like fried fingers before. The sweet Thai chili sauce was a little too sweet for me and I would've liked to see this with melted cheese. The grilled oysters packed a ton of garlicky goodness but expensive for $3 each. If you're a tripe fan, you gotta order their house beef tripe shreds $8.95. Lastly the seafood stir fried vermicelli $14.95 was darn tasty but I wash it wasn't so expensive for the amount we got. I really need to work on making a better version at home that doesn't result in the entire thing clumping together. Service was very good, especially since we were the only people there. The restaurant is a little on the small side and maybe would be loud if there were more people around. Food takes a little bit of time to arrive from the kitchen. What really threw me off was that you don't cook your own skewers, even though you're seated at tables with a grill in place. Total bill was $80.23

I liked this place. Good vibes. Clean. Not a lot of tables, but fairly spacious. This place is great for groups! Bring your friends and family for a good time. This place is a little confusing though because I think they go by 2 names - Flame BBQ and Ai Grill. The food was pretty good, flavorful. Their ingredients are fairly fresh. Service was good. They brought out our items at a reasonable pace. Price is decent. One thing that this place does poorly is that they have poor ventilation. For a grill place, good ventilation is highly important, and it got quite stuffy in there at some point. Parking can be difficult, as it's on the Main Street. Luckily, I was able to find parking right outside.

I loved that this restaurant offers the option to cook at the table or have the dishes prepared in the kitchen and brought out to you. We chose the already-cooked option since we were hungry and ready to dive in! However, if you're not in a rush and enjoy taking your time with friends and family, cooking at the table seems like a really fun experience too. The food was incredible--all the meats were so fresh and well-seasoned! I was impressed by the variety of meat and veggie selections. We had ribeye, lamb, tendon, A choy, Enoki mushrooms, duck breasts, chicken skin, pork belly, and oysters. My absolute favorites were the oysters, Enoki mushrooms, pork belly, chicken skin, and ribeye. The pork belly and chicken skin were perfectly crispy, the oysters were cooked to perfection, and the mushrooms and ribeye were seasoned beautifully. To top it off, the owner surprised us with a complimentary plate of beef skewers, which was such a thoughtful gesture. He was so kind, and it made our experience even more memorable. The food and service were outstanding, and even though it was our first visit, it definitely won't be our last!

Came early for Sunday dinner and was seated right away. Waitress was friendly and ordering was easy using the QR code. Clean set up with the choice to use the charcoal grill (you have to order specific skewers for it). Kids loved the Beef Gyudon and gyoza, we enjoyed the skewers - seasoning was good with a good kick of spice.

Got another one for you peeps!!!! This time this gem of a restaurant is all about skewers... not just ordinary skewers but amazing flavorful skewers that make your mouth water. The rib eye, crispy chicken skin skewers and duck breast were the faves for our group! Obviously, because pictures were not taken before the skewers were devoured. They served seafood as well and do not miss out on the oysters so tasty!!!! This little place is great for dates or with friends. The service was friendly and you got a nice happy hour Asian vibe.

This skewer place is definitely the best skewer restaurant I've tried in the bay area! Besides the traditional skewers, they have a ton of steak and Japanese skewer options, and they taste AMAZINGLY GOOD. My favorites are the Wagyu steak served with wasabi and sea salt, and the scallop butter Yaki. I've never tried steak served with wasabi before, and this combination is taking steak to the next level. And the butter in the scallop yaki was just making us wanting to order more plates coz it tastes wonderful. And all other food we ordered were super awesome. Unlike many other skewer places, all their skewers taste differently, which was another thing that made this restaurant stand out. I've attached a receipt of all dishes we ordered and I'd recommend all of them to my friends and the help community! :D

Came here when they opened a little after 4:30 and stood around for a couple of minutes before anyone noticed us. The place has a cute vibe to it but the place was empty the whole time until we left around 6:30. A few people stopped in to pick up to go orders. First off, I thought we would be grilling our food so I came prepared to smell like bbq. All the dishes we ordered were done in the back and brought out cooked. I thought the point was bbq? Oh well, they were nice enough and brought each dish to the table. It would have been nice if they told us which skewer it was since they all look alike! I was also disappointed that some items were only 1 skewer then the picture showed two skewers. It would be helpful if that was noted by the item. You order all items off an online menu. The item I liked best was the garlic oyster. Lots of garlic that I tried to use as a sauce for my skewers. The fried eggplant was fun but it didn't look like a whole eggplant like the menu. Lots of strips of eggplant with a light glaze of thai chili sauce. Think of it as a bloomin onion! The beef tongue (which looked like several slices on the menu but in reality was just 3 pieces on a skewer) was a bit tough. The seafood vermicelli was not as pretty as the menu but I did like the tobiko served on top! Overall, it was all right but I won't be going back. Sorry!

This place is kind of a hole in the wall with its self proclaimed "Texas BBQ" and location. Parking can be tough if the parking lot is full, and I wish they picked a better spot to open this shop. It's off the beaten path for most Chinese restaurants in the area. The prices for BBQ aren't exactly cheap, however that can all be mitigated since they offer AYCE at a price starting at $35 a person with drinks. I love their lamb skewers and chinese hamburger. Lamb skewers were seasoned to how I expected them - with a spice mix mainly consisting of cumin. I also like how they include a fatty piece just before the last piece, which is They also offer spicy powder on the side that you can shake on your order to make it more spicy. The Chinese hamburger was very flavorful and authentic and very cheap for the price - much more value than ANY fast food restaurant and a lot healthier! We also ordered a liangpi and cumin chicken, both which were decent. This place offers very fair prices for chinese BBQ if you consider AYCE, since I have yet been to a chinese BBQ place that offers AYCE. Food comes out pretty quickly, and service is welcoming, especially if you're familiar with northern chinese hospitality. If you can look past the fading decor, colored utensils, and overall hole in the wall vibe, this place is actually pretty good if you're from northern china and looking for a homely vibe! We had a reservation at 6:30, and we were sat really quickly, and had banchan ready for us at the table. I'm not too picky with meat quality, but I did enjoy the selection, but keep in mind each portion is pretty small, which can be nice if you're looking to try a wide variety of meats. We decided to stick with the regular menu, and we were happy with the selections. The service here was excellent! They were extremely attentive and quick to check on us and refill our water and meats. This is what real Chinese BBQ skewers looks like. The kind of place that doesn't need to impress you with aesthetics because the food already knows what it's doing. Family-owned, family-run. The staff is the family. And you feel it immediately, like you've stepped into a small neighborhood restaurant somewhere between Hong Kong and mainland China. There's a warmth here that can't be manufactured. The menu is simple, but every bite takes you back. From the beer selection to the grilled oysters to the BBQ itself... it's all honest, soulful, and unapologetically authentic. The kind of food that reminds you why street-side spots and humble kitchens often outshine overpriced "modern" versions trying too hard to be something they're not. And let's talk value. For the price? You absolutely cannot beat this place. Other spots charge more, dress it up, and somehow deliver less. Here, the quality is front and center... smoky, savory, deeply satisfying. What really blows my mind is how hidden this place still is. A quiet gem tucked away, flying under the radar, waiting for people who actually care about flavor over frills. This isn't a restaurant chasing trends. It's a place preserving something real. And honestly? That's rare.

So I went in around 8pm not to bad - a very cozy down to earth feeling, restaurant was clean and also had that Northern Chinese vibe. The restaurant was family owned so the manager basically just spoke Putonghua/Mandarin - talkabout like lowkey down to earth (it's as if you gotta be really into the Chinese vibe to get the experience at this joint ). Restaurant was super clean actually for a Chinese place, "chuu bian juo"-or what he said was "have a seat anywhere," (I should've asked do they have maotai and cigarettes lmao like in Chinese fashion-cigarettes and alcohol accompany meals --what a tradition). So I took a little time and decided ultimately go with mainly what the place was for - BBQ. NOW THE FOOD- I'd say that is a definite 4.5 solid for me - VERY GOOD AND SUPER AUTHENTIC - solid Northern Chinese skewers - I recommend the lamb skewer (yang ro), beef skewer (nuur ro), chicken wing (jichi), squid skewer (wuzei) and of course traditional homestyle chives-stuffed pancake (jiou chai he ji). I wasn't sure as this was my first time I wasn't sure how big the portions are so I also ordered what is a "guozi" or fried egg pancake roll just-in-case. To my surprise everything was actually super well grilled - smokey - flavorful . The beef was cooked well and the skewers has a good balance of fat-to-lean meat content, for $5 pricepoint for 2x skewers, not a bad deal at all. The lamb was also super flavorful, not gamey (which is plus) and was juicy not dry. All good and the chicken wings skewer of 2x wings was also grilled semi-crispy with some seasoned spices (love the flavor and aroma). The squid was also marinated well in a sweet glaze before and was not overly cooked so it had texture/not too dry. Now onto the chives pancake and gouzi/fried egg pancake roll. Both were homemade and they were decent. Chives stuffed pancake had a decent texture and for 2x pcs not bad. The guozi was stuffed with some sausages/hotdog and pretty decent for a side dish-sweet sauce was good with the bbq. NOW THE AMBIANCE-ultimately a 4/5 because it was nice, it was clean, but the way they served the food was really lowkey as the plate was nonexistent they simply give you a tray at each table. Sorta interesting. But the utensils and everything was clean so thats good. THE SERVICE - now this is anywhere around 4/5 I would say the owner. Was nice and friendly but really - you might wanna communicate in Putonghua/Mandarin like I did - I mean you could use English as there electronic smart phone menu is in English and Chinese - but to talk to them effectively - I'm glad my Chinese linguistics sorta came in handy. Ultimately very down to earth people - when I asked for water and napkins they were very helpful and accommodating. Ultimately - the is a good place. Definitely worth to visit time and again.
