Great brewery on Staten Island! When it opened in 2014, a year before we moved, I did patronize it a few times. And, if I remember correctly, it was the first brewery opened on the island in quite a long time. They were just starting out and had a limited selection back then. Over the years their operations have expanded and they offer a really nice lineup of IPAs, lagers, stouts, seasonal and the occasional specialty beer. When I came back to visit my parents, it became a regular stop for me and I would take a four or six pack back home to North Carolina. I was in town last week and went to the Oyster Festival with some friends and had a great time. The area where it's located has on street and off street parking and is a short walk from the Staten Island Ferry and the shopping outlets nearby. Definitely check this place out and stop in for a beer or two if you happen to be in the area.

Super cute brewery! Order a pint or a flight so you can try them all. I liked the IPA and Amber ale best. I'm normally a pilsner fan, but I wasn't a biggest fan of the pizza rat pilsner (I did enjoy the name though). The vibes here are great. The space is huge and there are tons of long tables. As with most breweries, you can bring in your own food. The decor is super rustic and cozy with lots of hanging string lights. It's very log cabin chic. There are also board games. I could see this being a great spot for a large group gathering / party. Going to a brewery is always a cool and different alternative to visiting a bar. There aren't many other breweries on SI, and Flagship is a great option!

Craft beer can be found on Staten Island, at this brewery. Flagship is a reason to get on the ferry. It has a large dining hall setting. Beers have good variety and prices. Transportation choices make it easier to get to. Atmosphere is fun. It's hard to imagine anything being fun on Staten Island. This is a welcome change from that. It has a large indoor seating area. This is set up like a dining hall is with lots of long tables. I came with my attractive female friend and rode the bus from the ferry. We sat at the bar and looked at the beer menu. Beer has better variety than I thought it would here. There's IPAs, but there's also kolschs and sours. I had the Blood Orange IPA. It's $7 for a pint. This isn't overly hoppy, and it's not overly sweet. It doesn't have a food menu but you can bring your own here. Pizza places also deliver to here. They also often have food trucks.

During our visit to this brewery in Staten Island, we were greeted with exceptional service, ample space, and a delightful surprise - delicious onion rings. Plus, we thoroughly enjoyed their beer offerings.

covid review: really cool inside, go inside to order your drinks. take them outside because they have a nice set up. its close to the train and a 5 min walk from the ferry. overall, easy to find. decent area to have a drink too, pretty calm. the selection of the beer in july was pretty good - i loved their sour!

Tasty beer and pretzels in the shade behind the brewery building. A pearl in an otherwise very disappointing Staten Island. Amazing that this part of town which is so accessible from battery park is so run down and unattractive. But don't let that stop you from enjoying the good beer and service!

I found myself at the Flagship with my partner after playing a show around the corner. He wanted an after show beer and I'm always up for trying a new (at least to me) brewery. The Flagship is one of two breweries on Staten Island. It's in an old automobile dealership building about a 1/2 mile from the Staten Island ferry. So it's not a bad walk if you take the ferry over. The brewery is a large space with a bar area and lots of picnic tables and a living room area with an artificial fireplace at the front where you can enjoy your beverage of choice. There is a glass wall showing the brewing vessels and the brewing area. There were 6 beers available at the time I was there, see photo below. I tried the lager it was smooth and crisp without being hoppy I enjoyed it. They also have an iPad mounted on the wall with delivery menus from local establishments who will deliver food to the brewery. I look forward to going back next time I'm playing in the area to try some of their other offerings. I liked the Flagship, I think you will too

Enjoying an IPA at Flagship.

This place was, without question, one of the highlights of our trip to New York City, and that's not something I was expecting to say about a random brewery we found on Staten Island after taking the ferry over just for the heck of it. My girlfriend and I stumbled into this place at noon on a Friday because we didn't just want to turn around and go back to Manhattan after taking the Staten Island Ferry over. Flagship is located about a ten minute walk off the Staten Island Ferry terminal, which means if you're looking for something to do on Staten Island, Flagship is easy to get to and convenient. The beer is fantastic. These guys clearly put a lot of thought and effort into the brews they make. I'd recommend the Smoked Helles, the blood orange IPA, or their house IPA. The oyster stout and Scotch ale, both of which we tried, are also winners. Try a flight, or pull up a stool and stay for awhile and try larger versions of all of them. The atmosphere -- Drinking at Flagship is like drinking at your buddy's house. Well lit, well decorated, very welcoming place to have a drink. Plenty of room and seating as well. What made our trip to Flagship memorable though was the service. Go on a Friday and you'll find the owner's uncle Joe working behind the bar, a retired New York City firefighter with an outgoing personality who knows how to make you feel welcome. He, moreso than any other reason, is why the one drink we had planned to have at Flagship turned into three plus hours at the bar. Service is everything, and Joe was engaging while at the same time getting us the beers we needed when we needed them. I cannot say enough good things about him or Flagship overall. Highly, highly recommend Flagship because this place really is the total package. We will definitely be coming back next time we are in New York.

Great set-up to relax and enjoy some good beer, I would love a brewery like this by me in Jersey City. The tap room is classy but still a relaxed setting with plenty of space for large groups. I did a flight and enjoyed all of the beers, especially the seasonal Wicked SIPA and surprising the Kill Van Kolsch (off the regular menu), which is not a type of beer that I usually enjoy. Also $9 flights are a plus!

My beer club went to Staten Island for the first time ever to visit Flagship Brewing and it was worth the trip. First of all, it's not much of a trip. The brewery is not even a 10 minute walk from the ferry and on the way back, we caught a bus which got us there in three minutes. (The train is also right outside the brewery but it doesn't run very often) Anyway, back to the brewery. It was a calm Thursday night and the team on hand was very welcoming and informative about their beers and the brewery. Even though 11 of us walked in all at once, we got our beers quickly. They showed us how to use the ipad on the wall to order pizza and we were all set! I got a flight to sample four of the beers and they were all pretty decent. I wasn't crazy about their lager, but the others were pretty good and the Roggenfest was absolutely delicious. That was my "go to" beer after I finished my flight. If you haven't been here, you need to do yourself a favor and go. If you take the ferry, you'll get a gorgeous 25 minute ride and then you can walk to the brewery in about 10 minutes. It's easy to get to, the beer is good and the people who own the place and work there are awesome and very welcoming. So put down your phone and stop reading this review and head over to Flagship already!

An incredible IPA!

Came here with family while visiting for Thanksgiving. Let me just tell you, the IPA at Flagship is up there with the best I've had. Perfection. The other brews were tasty as well. The atmosphere here is great. Ample seating, giant jenga...all the fixins for a good night out with a crowd. The only thing that could make this place better would be some food options. However, they do allow outside food, so you can come prepared with snacks or even order a pizza. Thanks for a good time and an amazing IPA, Flagship!

I probably never leave reviews in general, especially negative ones, but this experience was so…read moreegregious that I honestly felt like I had to say something. I've worked in restaurants and bars long enough to understand that staff drinking happens, but this was on another level entirely. I came in with a group of friends and one of the bartenders, Will, was so visibly drunk that it made the entire experience uncomfortable. Slurred speech, wobbling behind the bar, taking orders while chewing food with his mouth open -- it was honestly embarrassing to watch. He looked like he absolutely did not want to be there. At one point, my group had been trying to get his attention for another round for quite a while while he stood around talking with coworkers. We then watched staff take a shot together, and when he finally came over he burped mid-conversation and literally had whatever he had just been drinking dribbling down his neckbeard. That was the moment where the whole thing went from unprofessional to just gross. What made it worse was that it didn't seem isolated to one employee. Throughout the night we watched staff openly taking shots and drinking behind the bar like it was a house party instead of a business. There's a difference between bar culture and complete lack of professionalism, and this crossed that line hard. One of the friends I was with actually frequents the DUMBO location and said that the last time she was there, the same bartender also seemed intoxicated, which makes this feel less like a bad night and more like an ongoing issue. The DUMBO location itself is in an amazing spot, which makes it even more disappointing. But ownership seriously needs to get control of what's going on there before someone gets hurt or the place develops a reputation for having drunk staff on the clock. Unfortunately, the experience was uncomfortable enough that my girlfriends and I won't be coming back. I genuinely hope the employee mentioned gets help if this is a regular thing, because nobody should be working service in that condition.
