This was a very complicated 3-day ceiling repair and paint project including replacing the ceiling fan. Ours is the top floor of an non-elevator building, and the ceiling is 25' high, the rooms quite large and full of furniture, precious plants, and valuable art works and carpets large and small, . I had a great experience working with Fix It People and Raul specifically for a drywall repair job that was a little bit complicated after an electrician had done some electrical work at my condo. The process for getting a quote was easy and they followed up quickly within a day after the virtual walkthrough. Because the job seemed like it would be complicated, they budgeted time on two different days, but Raul was able to fix it in a much more straightforward manner than I had thought possible, which he also took the time to explain and show me so I understood what was going on. My experience with the Fix It People was great from start to end. Tom, the owner, was super responsive about a punch list of things I wanted to get done to get my condo in shape (painting all the walls, fixing some doors on rollers, retouching up with cabinets). He came in after a couple days of my inquiry, did an assessment of the place, and provided me with a detailed line by line item quote that same night. He was a great communicator and was easy to work with to schedule the work being done (not to mention his billing/ invoice system was very easy to use). I have been trying to get my door fixed for ages because every handyman always said I needed to replace the entire frame. Fix it People made it easy to send them details with pics and quoted a price in line with the service I was looking for. However, Angel showed up and went above and beyond my expectations. Not only did he work quickly, he made the necessary repairs so that my door worked perfectly. And as if that wasn't enough, he did a quick fix on my rear door that wasn't part of the original job. I couldn't be happier with these people. First of all, Tom Patton, the GM, came out initially to see what needed to be done and meet with me. Considering how long it takes to get anyone in to do anything nowadays, he responded in a very timely manner. I needed someone to remove a mirrored wall and repair the drywall and he sent Juan. Juan was fantastic! The job was done well and he even stayed late to finish up and explained everything that needed to be done and why it took a little longer. He contacted me through text and cell phone directly. I live in a high rise and the door staff and management office even commented on how professional this business is and asked for a contact so they could recommend them to other tenants in need of a handyman for small projects. Also, Juan had to deal with my cat supervising and getting in the way of everything and my cat had him head over heals. Hahaha. He brought her a present on his last day. I live in an older house and I had some light bulbs stuck in a ceiling fixture that a simple DIY YouTube video wouldn't solve. I used Yelp! to get help finding an electrician/handyman who would stand by their work, unlike some of the other 'uber-type' handyman services provider with apps/marketing, but you get a mixed bag of personnel. Angel came out on time--he was professional and came with the right tools and was efficient. They take all of your information online (including photos) and send you an upfront estimate where you enter the credit card information- no need to pay the technician when he arrives. They respond quickly, schedule fast, and show up on time. Our repairman Steve was excellent. He couldn't replace the light fixtures we had so he suspended the project and waited for us to buy more. We have used the Fix It People for two projects and have been thrilled with how each of them turned out. Both times we contacted them through their website with pictures and an explanation of the project and promptly received a response with a quote. The first involved moving an electrical box for a ceiling light fixture so that we could hang a pendant lamp over our dining room table. The box was moved to exactly where we wanted it, the light we picked was perfectly installed, and the workers painted the ceiling so it looks like the light was always in its current location. They were quick and professional. The project cost came out above the estimate but it was worth it to be pleased with the final product. Most recently, we hired the Fix It People again to paint our office in preparation for turning it into a nursery. They gave us one of the lowest estimates and were able to fit in our small project the soonest of any of the companies we contacted. Since we were so happy with the work they did for us the first time, we decided to move ahead. We learned the day of the project that our scheduled painter had called out sick. No problem because they were able to quickly line up a new painter for the day. The new painter, Dwayne, was quick while still being careful and detailed in his work. The cost came within the estimate and was done in a day. We were originally considering attempting the painting project ourselves but are happy we decided to go with a professional instead since the work was done much better than we could have done and within a fraction of the time. I'm sure we will be reaching out to the Fix It People again for our next home repair project. read more

I hired them to put up wall paper in the bedroom. Wallpaper did not have a pattern, very simple. They only have one person who does wall paper. Results: -job start was delayed one day, as this person was sick. OK, it happens -foreman changed in the middle of the job. either he quit or was fired, not sure. had to be in contact with someone else. -I asked them multiple times before the start of the job, if I have enough wall paper. The person working on the job (Boris) said yes. Then they notified me during day 2, that 3 more rolls were needed. 3 more! Had to pause the job again so I can buy more wallpaper. -it took Boris 3 days to wallpaper one bedroom. Granted its a loft. Maybe FixIt people are good at painting, but I would not recommend them for wallpaper. Slow, and not very experienced. UPDATE: After seeing this review, the manager of FixIt people-Tom reached out to me directly. He apologized for the service, and agreed that this review was fair. He offered to refund me some of the cost and a couple free hours of work on future projects. He said the company is dedicated to creating and maintaining long term relationships with their clients, and it was important to him to do right by me. After exchanging a few emails with Tom, I feel he is a man who takes pride in his work and truly wants to make his customers happy. I think my situation was an isolated incident that hopefully will not reoccur. read more

Our interior designer engaged Fix It People to redo our home office. The team was responsible for removing carpet, installing hard-wood flooring, reconfiguring electrical, installing fixtures, patching drywall, and painting. Although the project took longer than originally estimated, I cannot attribute the delay to the team's effort. They arrived early, stayed late, worked on weekends...you name it. When we submitted punch-list items, they quickly returned to resolve the issues. Tom, the manager, was a pleasure to work with. He was responsive and communicative. Shout out also to Mirek, Eric, Roger, Miguel and Leo. They worked tirelessly and, when it was all said in done, built a gorgeous office with electrical that functioned exactly how we needed. We also had some side projects we threw in while the team was onsite. Everything was executed well. This review would be 5 stars if not for one thing. We ran into a problem with the location of one of the light switches in the office project. Admittedly, the initial installation issue was not Fix It People's fault. The cabinet provider sent us the wrong measurements. Fix It People quickly responded to find a solution. I won't get into the details because it was a comedy of errors on the part of multiple vendors. In the end, we got where we needed. However, it took some unfortunate iterating, which is why I am giving 4 stars. I wish I could give 4.5 stars. Regardless, we would use them again without hesitation. read more
