I wanted to try their abalone poke that I saw in a youtube video but they didn't have it anymore. As a result, I decided to try a combination plate with half sweet yuzu glaze ahi and half spicy mayo salmon. This place did not disappoint. The fish was fresh and it literally melted in your mouth. As a yuzu fan, I really liked the yuzu flavored ahi. It was a very unique flavor. Thumbs up!
Five Star is a quaint yet tasty food truck located in Waikiki. There's not much parking nearby so walking would probably be your best bet. We got the salmon yuzu poke and it was really yummy and tangy! The only complaint is the amount of rice doesn't complement the little amount of protein you get. Regardless, extremely tasty! Would recommend visiting.
Five Star Poke is located in the heart of Waikiki in a small lot of food trucks. They offer different kinds of poke in different sizes: regular (1 scoop of fish), combo (2 scoops), and large (3 scoops). We ordered the combo ($17.95) and for our two scoops of fish we got the ginger scallion miso ahi and ginger scallion miso salmon. I've never had ginger scallion in poke before so I wanted to try it out. They definitely had strong flavors of ginger and scallion which was unique and weird at first but tasty. Also, the fish was very fresh and so soft! If you're staying in the area I'd definitely stop by to try a kind of poke you don't see often.
They got me. It's five stars. It's a small food truck toward the back of a turf plaza, but don't let that fool you. With fresh fish and unique sauce combinations, you'll be able to get the amazing classics and some more intriguing, boutique flavors. I got a large bowl (free seaweed salad!) with garlic shoyu seared salmon and yuzu citrus chili pepper ahi. The tanginess of the yuzu was a neat twist on classic poke sauces (unfortunately a smidge sour for my taste), but the seared salmon was super tasty and really emphasized the quality of the fish. The tuna was also equally as fresh. Really happy that I stumbled over this food truck :)
Oh my goshhhhh! We came back and were so satisfied!! The poke is so fresh and the seasoning is so good! We got the yuzu pepper which was and the shoyu seasoning! It was only $23! And I saw only because poke for lesser quality in WA is about 30! The owner was so kind!
Their salmon poke is pretty good and fresh. Although I preferred the rice to be on the cooler side (temperature) because their was hot white rice (not vinegared).
This place is convenient for tourists staying in Waikiki as it's walking distance to a lot of hotels. It's a food truck located on a lot with about 4-5 other establishments so there's a small seating area. There's not much parking nearby so I just had my bf drop me off while he waited on the side street. I ordered the 3 choice poke with spicy mayo ahi, fresh jalapeño salmon, and yuzu citrus chili pepper. The ahi was fresh but I wasn't really impressed with the flavors of the poke. The spicy mayo was decent, you can't really go wrong with that. I wouldn't recommend the fresh jalapeño salmon there seems to be no seasoning on it besides the diced jalapeño so it was very bland. The yuzu citrus chili flavor was tasty but very mild. Either it wasn't mixed well or they didn't use enough sauce. I wouldn't recommend coming during peak hours. The employee was really nice and friendly but she was the only one working. I ordered 3 bowls and it took about 10-15 min because she had to stop to take orders since a line formed while she was prepping. I'd come again to try other flavors if I'm ever in the area but I wouldn't drive out just for it.
Poke truck in a cluster of other trucks on kapuni but there's ample bench seating everywhere! Flavors make local style so that was appreciated! Did i mention the cute takeout box art?
Yummy poke in a cute food truck area. Fish was fresh and tasty. I wish we could've gotten more toppings/been able to pick them.
Such a fun little food spot right by Waikiki. It's an outdoor area with four different food huts, and the first challenge is just choosing which one to try because everything smells amazing. There are picnic tables in the middle, and each hut has bright, colorful painted siding that gives the whole place a cool, laid-back vibe. Bonus: if you're lucky, you'll make friends with the birds. They're very friendly... maybe too friendly, so keep an eye on your food. I went with the poke and it was excellent. The flavors tasted fresh and real--especially the ginger, which had an authentic punch. And the seaweed salad surprised me too..I usually find it bland, but this one was actually really tasty and complemented the bowl well. Great stop, great atmosphere, and I'd absolutely come back to try the other huts next time.
I appreciated the quality of the fresh fish and the complexity and generous serving of marinade so it soaked in the the rice. The rice portion was generous as well and served steaming hot.
Poke from a truck in Hawaii? Yeah I'm game. Walked from the hotel to this cute little food truck square one night for dinner. Out of all the options, Five Star Poke looked the most interesting. We might've been early for dinner? They were still cooking rice (might have just ran out of the last batch) and asked if we were okay to wait. They have many flavors of poke-- staff is friendly and even walked us through all the options so we could make the best decision. We ended up getting both salmon and tuna. They even gave us a free drink on the house for the wait. Poke was absolutely delicious. The fish was fresh, fish to rice ratio was 5/5, and portion size was healthy. Would come here again for poke when we're on the island.
Right around the corner from Maguro which always has a huge line. So for no line you can enjoy really fresh yummy poke. There's a few other food trucks in this area with picnic tables in the middle. I got the small size cuz we were ordering a few things from other trucks too and so I was able to get 2 kinds of fish. Both tunas i got were really yummy. The shoyu was the classic poke flavour and the yuzu was very citrusy and refreshing. I got guac add on because they were very much hyping it up and honestly it was a good addition.

If we are what we eat...well I guess I'm "spicy!" Five Star Poke is a little trailer parked right along Kuhio Ave along with several other vendors certainly does deserves it's stars rightfully named. With a very simple menu with one choice for $13.79 or two for $15.79... - #1 Original Garlic Shoyu Ahi - #2 Cold Ginger Shoyu Ahi - #3 Spicy Mayo Ahi - #4 Cold Ginger Shoyu Salmon - #5 Fresh Jalapeño Salmon - #6 Garlic Shoyu Seared Salmon - #7 Wasabi Shoyu Salmon - #8 Sesame Mayo Shrimp - #9 Miso Mayo Tako All comes with white rice and seaweed salad with an option to add guacamole topping for $1.99 what a fabulous deal! What does make it a deal is the simple menu without the option for a salad or brown rice but what we do certainly see is that they put a lot into the sauces the create to coat the poke is amazing! I got the Spicy Mayo Ahi and friend had the Cold Ginger Shoyu Ahi...you can see the freshness as soon as we got our bowls the ahi was just glistening and my friend couldn't stop talking about the ginger sauce...the freshness and pairing was spot on...just loved it! The same for my Spicy Mayo Ahi which also had bits of fresh onions which I usually don't like but paired nicely as it was diced very finely and topped with crispy fried onions added that nice crunch I usually don't get from a poke bowl. The unique touches they add to their bowls are just that and what makes it very special and worth the stress and hassel and for those who know I just had to take a star as parking is literally impossible no whatsoever I virtually had to park illegally to dash in, eat and leave...like a poke ninja. Sometimes a little comfort takes an extra effort that's worth the Five Star! Thank you! read more
Found this place on Yelp! and discovered it was only a few blocks from the Hilton Waikiki Beach hotel. We had the shoyu and the spicey Ahi poke plus the ginger lemonade. My poke (spicy) was very good. My parents had the shoyu and said it was great. The ginger lemonade was not drinkable; it was so gingery without sweetness. I did take it back to my hotel room and added sugar packets and diluted it a bit....it was actually pretty refreshing at that point...ask for a sample before you order. Would recommend and return. read more
We stumbled upon this place and I'm so glad we did. Staff was very friendly and the poke, WOW. Talk about flavor. I've had a ton of poke since I've been here and this place had some of the most flavorful poke I've had. The shoyu ahi was INCREDIBLE. I could eat it again and again. Both the ahi and salmon were melt in your mouth delicious. Fresh tasting and thankfully lighter on the rice and more on the poke. Prices weren't bad and I felt they gave you a decent portion for the price. It's a small little shack and surrounded by other little food trucks, not easy to miss. You won't regret checking this place out. read more

Went here on my first and last day in Hawaii. Had the ginger scallion miso ahi poke, garlic shoyu ahi poke, and the garlic shoyu salmon. I'd say top 3 on the island in fish quality and sauces, overall 2nd best on the island. Seating is just outside with no parking, but you cab park your mopeds/bikes on the sidewalk read more
This food truck was super close to where we were staying so we took a stroll to try some poke. The flavors were decent but the amount of rice was disproportionately too much. In subsequent days we've had poke from other places which tasted fresher. It's a good quick grab a bite place, but there are other options. read more
I have gone here a few times. Both times the poke was fresh and had just the right amount of seasoning. I think the owner was there the second time I visited. He was helpful and friendly. There are fewer topping options here. You can some guacamole to it. Overall a very good poke bowl and has become one of my favorite go to poke stops on the island. read more

The name says it all! Definitely deserving of the 5 stars. We came back 2 nights in a row - it was THAT good. The spicy mayo is but delicious flavor for both, large portions and great customer service. The owners are super nice and helpful if you don't know what to order. read more

Wow the poke was so buttery and fresh here! My husband and I wanted something refreshing after our hike up Diamond Hill, so we walked to this food truck location. Five Star Poke really hit the spot! They also have ginger lemonade and iced Japanese matcha. We got both, along with the 2 choice order of spicy mayo tuna and ginger shoyu salmon. Don't let the size of the box fool you, it is super filling! I also loved this location. There are several food trucks here on fake grass with clean benches well placed, just the cutest setup! read more

I landed in Honolulu around dinner time after a 5 hour flight from SF and was very hungry. After strolling up and down the beach for a place to eat, many sushi or sashimi places had long waits of at least 45 minutes. I pulled up Yelp and this came up as an option nearby. This place is a good truck with a seating area. It was clean and comfortable, but no frills. The staff was super quick and courteous. But the poke was amazing and so fresh. I got the two choice poke with garlic tuna and garlic salmon. It came tossed in a delicious garlic sauce, with chopped onion, seaweed salad, and sticky rice. The whole combination was great and felt like an expensive meal for only $15. Definitely go for a quick and tasty meal! read more
Out of all the poke spots in Waikiki, this is the one that kept us coming back. It's a food truck, tucked a little further away from the beach, but it's well worth the walk. They have really unique flavor combinations and add ons that we didn't see at other pokes places, which made it special for us. I tried the yuzu tuna one, and it was nice and refreshing. You could taste both the freshness of the fish and the tartness of the yuzu paired nicely with it. It came with seaweed salad on the side as well. I also tried the seared salmon, and that was definitely my favorite. The seared parts melted in your mouth and added a great smokiness to the bowl. It also had fried onions on top, which was great for adding texture and making the dish more interesting. The poke is on the pricier side, at around $18, but it was worth it. The only thing is make sure you allocate extra time, because they only have one person taking and making orders, so they are pretty slow. If I ever visit Waikiki again, I would definitely come back! read more

First time here was great experience, the guy give me full amount of salmon and seaweed salad. Second time return only tiny little bit. Huge difference the salmon is dark and turn blaxk for the wasabi one. The lady was very lacking as well. Won't come back read more

This place absolutely needs more reviews and more visits from the community! family owned, small business but beautiful set up! Food truck area shared with 3 others but it's conveniently located right outside the hustle bustle of waikiki beach block. Good portions, fresh fish, good selection, each box comes with a Thank You (such a thought) and there is a public parking spot right opposite. Quick service, select, pay, eat and go! No restrooms. read more

TL:DR; This poke place could be amazing if not for inconsistencies in quality control. If the poke bowls were made exactly the same way every time, I don't see a reason for the negative Yelp reviews. But they don't seem to be which is quite unfortunate. If you're in the neighborhood, this might be like a convenient option if you're willing to gamble for a delicious poke bowl or a subpar one. Some people like to live life on the edge, surprise surprise. ----- Five Star Poke kinda looks like a trailer? LOL. It is located at the corner of Kuhio Ave. and Kapuni St. With other food trucks on fake turf. There was a Japanese place, a hot dog place and a coffee place. The first time we tried this place we had a great experience (Aug 2022). The worker was super friendly! Very informative, he took the time to explain the different ones. He recommended the "Garlic Shoyu Seared Salmon" which was his favorite. That's the one I got, AND IT WAS DELICIOUS AF! I also recommend this one. He made our poke bowls fresh on the spot, so it did take a while for him to prep our food which we didn't mind. The one choice poke bowls comes with rice, seaweed salad, and poke. The "Garlic Shoyu Seared Salmon" and the "Original Garlic Shoyu Ahi" were topped with fried garlic chips which added to the amazing-ness. No complaints about these. The second time we came here the poke bowls were subpar at best (Sept 2022). I had gotten the "Original Garlic Shoyu Ahi" and if you compare my pics, it looks nothing like the one from August. Lol. It was wet to the point of slimey? It seemed pre-made and had been sitting around for a while. Which was proven as this different worker had our food prepared super quickly. Not like it took the same amount of time when it was made on the spot. Really disappointing... The "Spicy Mayo Ahi" was kinda weird lol. It tasted like Sriracha Mayo was used along with some jalapeño flavor. This had a spicy kick. And it was topped with what seemed like potato chips. This one also seemed to be pre-made. The rice in both of these was pretty sad too, mushy :( read more

Came here on a weekday afternoon for our first meal in Hawaii! It's located in a cute, small lawn area that is neighbored by a rolls truck and a coffee shop. The cashier was super friendly and kept asking us if it's okay if our fresh rice was a bit squishy. We didn't mind. There's a couple of picnic tables that the businesses share. The trash was absolutely swarmed by birds. There's umbrellas so there was shade. The cashier came by to clean our table before we sat down. I got a ginger shoyu ahi and jalapeno salmon poke bowl. The seaweed salad and fish tasted good, but I wish there was more seasoning. The ginger shoyu is reminiscent of hainan chicken and the jalapeño salmon had smashed jalapeños in a way that I've never tried before; the spice built up! Overall, the hospitality and selections were nice but the seasoning/flavors were lacking a bit. Still, if you love the simple taste of fish, it's worth giving this smaller business a try. read more

The name confidently proclaims it's 5 star status, and I gotta agree. I went to this poke place 3 days in a row because I could not get enough of their ginger scallion miso salmon. It's 1 of 5 food trucks in the corner of a bunch of hotels near Waikiki beach with a couple of tables and umbrellas. It was the perfect thing to eat after a day hiking or at the beach, the large could be shared between two smaller eaters. I recommend the shoyu ahi tuna to compliment the ginger scallion miso salmon. The ginger lemonade is pretty gingery and has pieces of ginger in it, not that sweet either so if you don't care too much for ginger it's probably not the drink for you. They do take a little bit to get the orders out, but honestly I never had to wait that long. It's also nice that there are other food trucks with different cuisines in this little nook so you can grab a drink or appetizer elsewhere as well read more

Super nice owner, don't know the name of the man that served me but he super nice. I ordered a 1,6,9 and unfortunately the first order was incorrect and he was nice enough to give me a whole new second bowl while insisting to keep the first. The poke itself is also very fresh!! Definitely recommend this spot, I'd recommend ahi shoyu and seared salmon!! read more

I was about to walk to another sashimi place until I realized I was tired and I should just eat at the food truck in front of my eyes and...it was delicious! I got the two pick combo of the garlic salmon and the ahi tuna. The fish melt in my mouth and tasted like it was freshly torched. There is an outdoor dining area right outside to use. The only thing I didn't like was the constant pigeons and birds around the dining area which I know is not their fault, so maybe just take it to good. read more
Found this little food truck area and tried out this poke spot! It's a super easy menu, I ordered the fresh jalapeno salmon. The salmon was fresh, the toppings were simple and delicious, and it was a perfect size (I got the smaller size). I love how there was some seating in that food truck area too! It is in Waikiki so parking may be tough so I would walk to it if you can. read more

Far from the claims of its moniker Five Star Poke delivers a mediocre experience with definite room for improvement, and it faces steep competition from a plethora of nearby poke restaurants in Waikiki offering better poke for the same or even a lower price. The poke itself was overly sauced, and the powerful marinades and seasonings drowned out the light flavor of the fresh fish. By the end of the bowl even the rice was thickly coated in sauce, which really isn't what I'm looking for in my poke bowl. Excellent poke walks a delicate balance between being fresh and light, while also providing solid flavor. Five Star Poke really sells out for the flavor at the expense of anything that could be called light or refreshing. The other deal-breaker for me was that one of my pieces of fish had a very large bone left in it. I've never encountered that at any other poke place and it certainly took away something from the meal overall. I wouldn't recommend the Ginger Lemonade either. I'm generally a fan of lightly sweetened lemonades, but this one could have definitely used some more sugar to cut through the strong ginger and citrus. It tasted more like something you would choke down as part of a detox than it did an enjoyable beverage fit for an island paradise. When you factor in the high cost and somewhat unimpressive portion sizes, Five Star Poke just fails to impress in any category. Based on my experience, I think a name change might be in order. read more

This is a little chill spot to come grab some good poke. A little pricey but still worth checking out if you're around and craving poke. Customer service was pretty good and they answered questions I had about the different food options on the menu. The food was good but I wish they would add more fish to justify the price you pay. P.S. - Just watch out for the birds though. They have zero chill and will straight up walk up to your food and eat it lol read more

Great little food stall in Waikiki. Bowls are made to order and use very good ingredients. The square of stalls is a great place to sit outside in the evening and enjoy your food and some dessert afterwards. read more
Another solid poke spot, can you even go wrong with poke in Hawaii? Right across the way from Maguro spot is this little food truck. Nestled away in a cute little outdoor eating area they even have a rolled ice cream spot in the same area. I ordered the original garlic shoyu and the spicy mayo with their guacamole. The fish? Amazing flavor, love the crunch. Rice tasted great and portions were okay. What went wrong here was the guac lol I asked for avocado and he said they had guac so I said sure. The guac itself isn't bad but it did not compliment any of the fish. I wish they just had regular avocado as a side. Overall, still really good and a great option since maguro is always packed. read more
Located off Kapuni St in Waikiki, walking distance from our hotel my Nephew wanted Poke and found this spot close by. It's a little trailer parked in an area with other trailers. I got the #1 garlic shoyu ahi and the house made ginger lemonade. The poke was so fresh and delicious I wanted more but had to hood back lol. The lemonade was good but definitely ginger strong. The staff was friendly and helpful. They have benches out in front shared with the other trailers. Overall good fresh poke. I would recommend this spot. read more
