It wasn't that long ago that I gave a review here, but I know people like to see current info, plus I wanted to say how great those breakfast burritos are in case I wasn't enthusiastic enough before. I'm old and had recent medical crud going on and don't cook any more. Going to a drive thru in my robe at 11a.m. it's hard to expect much that late for breakfast. But the burrito here has eggs, steak, potatoes and so much in it ..it felt like 3 lbs of food. Anyhow, it was huge, and while I was enjoying it, I kept thinking how sweet it was that someone actually made it from scratch for me...exactly how I asked for it with no cilantro and hot off the stove. meh. So I'd heard about how good these burgers were supposed to be. I don't know if it's because I had it door-dashed or what but the fries were luke warm and not really cooked and the bun on my burger was hard as a rock like it had freezer burn (most bread doesn't freeze well) the burger itself was good, good flavor, produce was good, juicy cooked to medium (order)...sauce was tasty. the bun though was like it had freezer burn or something. couldn't eat the bottom bun. Good food just if you wanna pick something up fast dont come here. Super long wait time! I been in the drive they for 20 mins now have not moved and i have 2 cars ahead of me. Ridiculous i seen reviews and they all complain of the same thing idk why management hasnt done anything to resolve this issue. I been here 3 different times and its always the same long wait times . The burger was cooked well and the special sauce was tasty without being overpowering. The fries were better than you would expect at most fast food places. I love that they grill the onions for you if you ask & I also really appreciate that they wrap each one up in the paper so it's easy to eat. Customer service is lacking. It does seem like the person who took my order cared much for her job. When you first walk in, things just look grimy. Ordered through the drive thru and the girl working the window was rude.. forgot half our order and wasn't wearing a mask or face shield. There was one teenage girl wearing one below her chin and the 2 guys working the food weren't wearing anything at all. Kinda wishing we could give zero stars. My family and I ordered $70 worth of food. We get up to the window, there's multiple items missing and a large drink missing. My husband asked for our large drink, and he hands us a child sized drink. So we pulled out of the drive through and my husband went inside. He asked for the items that were missing that we ordered, and for the correct size drink. The guy argued but gave us the poppers but not the drink we paid for. My husband didn't even feel like dealing with him anymore so he walked out. Also, they clearly didn't change the oil they use to cook the food, because it made the food taste AWFUL with a bad aftertaste. Won't be returning. I always see this place since it's across the street from where I get my oil change, so I decided to give it a try thinking I would get a nice solid burger and fries. I regretted it. They post a sign saying that they cook their burgers fresh to order, so that's always good news. Was it worth the wait? NO. I ordered a #3 combo. The meat tasted bland, the bun wasn't toasted, and it just looked really sad when I got it. The fries were hot, so I appreciated that, but they were a little heavy handed on the seasoning, so they were salty. They were probably just frozen crinkle cut fries, so nothing special. Slow, dirty, confused and not tasty. That's the best way to describe my experience here at 5 Star Burger. My burger was under seasoned and over cooked. Onion rings were mushy and NO seasoning what so ever. My diet Dr pepper was flat. I had ordered my burger with pepper jack and it came with some unmelted orangish processed cheese. Hummus, breakfast burritos, wraps and fried chicken dinners? Fried fish and a dollar menu? Smoothies and banana splits? I'm confused... Stopped by here initially as a joke. A burger place in the ghetto that was very obviously a taco shop previously seemed too good to pass up. So I waddled in the drive thru expecting food poisoning and regret. Once I saw the menu I was even more excited. They have a frankly ridiculous amount of combos. Anything fried, grilled, or soft serve related was there. I randomly chose a combo 1 with a dr pepper. The drive thru lady warned me it had 3 patties which was adorable. I know what I am getting into girl pls. After a pretty long wait for a drive thru (8 or so mins) I parked and inspected. The fries are crinkle cut standard goodness. Seasoned well, but nothing exceptional. Dr pepper was indeed the soda described so good start. Lastly, we reach the burger. Mother of god, this thing was huge. When I heard three patties, I expected some weak baby patties but these kids were grown up for sure. The onion, lettuce, and tomato were all on point. The bun was standard fair with a solid thousand islandish sauce. The patties were seasoned perfectly. To be frank, my body began moving on it's own. The burger I expected to ruin my day rocked my world and left me lusting for more. By far the best fast food burger I have had in recent memory. My only real complaint is the slow service and small drinks. I need way more sugar water to decimate a strong burger like that. Hi yelpers :) this is an update (my last review was 2 yrs ago.) So, basically Five Star remains one of my all time local faves. I'm updating this because they've updated their menu and also, it's worth talking about! So, this was my go to breakfast burrito and burger place. But, having now tried more of the menu, I gotta say they nail it every time (bar the once I tried pastrami, and to be fair, I'm always on the fence with pastrami no matter who makes it.) I've had the chicken basket, shrimp basket, and fish and chips basket. All three have generous portions, for one, so you will not walk away hungry. And, if you go with a friend, there's enough to share. I've also made my way through some of their burgers. I've Swiss mushroom, California, and knock out burger. And they are so good! The price range is about 6-8ish dollars depending if you want just the burger or you go for a combo. On a budget? Not a prob. The star burger is their basic burger for under 2 bucks. I should mention that the star burger isn't the mustard and ketchup variety. They use burger sauce. That is a deal maker/breaker for some people, so it's worth mentioning. My kids love the corn dogs and grilled cheese. Now, this has taken me 2 years to get thru this menu, haha. I actually try to cook most of my meals and eat healthy choices. But, when I splurge it's normally5 star, Umi Sushi, Tasty Thai or a new place. And, having gone there for years now, the people are a major factor on why I return. They are so nice to me and my kids. Quality takes time at this greasy spoon...I know it's quite the paradox. This is not your typical fast-food drive-thru, they actually prepare your food to order. Therefore, patience is a must if you go or just don't cue up if there are more than say 3 cars. LOL. We've tried the burgers, Philly and chicken cheesesteak, chili cheese dog, zucchini sticks, fries, and chicken nuggets. Everything was tasty and fresh (crisp lettuce and ripe tomatoes). Good solid burgers here! Big, varied menu with lots to choose from too. Quality of food from the freshness of ingredients, to the well seasoned meat, and portion sizes are all on point. The dining area could be aired out better and table seating better arranged but overall the cleanliness of area is good.
