There is a very extensive menu, and the burgers taste good. However, looking through the drive thru window it just doesn't look clean & professional. I'll be honest after reading the reviews I didn't want to try this place but my bf did so I played it save and ordered chicken strips. He got a double double bacon burger. I had a bite and it was so good (similar to Snow White) tried both the regular & curly fries & they were both seasoned & awesome. I didn't have a problem with the staff, the cashier was friendly. I wouldn't call the place dirty, it's old & looks like Maria's taco shop hmm maybe because it was before. Not over priced at all & I waited close to 15 mins which is not bad for a fresh burger. Love, love, love, this place. We eat here often. The burgers are delicious. I see that people have reviewed the bacon and service time. I would say that if your not willing to wait for your food to be cooked then go to McDonalds and eat the nasty chemically enhanced food. Food is adequate. Service below sub-par. Very slow. Had to answer the question about whether my order was "for here" or "to go" 3 times within 5 minutes for the same person that was taking my order. Sodas were flat. I am willing to give it one star for its one saving grace. It was cheap; dinner for 3 for less than $20.00. I ordered the pastrami burger and the knockout burger and they reminded me of the scenic drive in burger just less fatty and greasy, and LOVED THE BEEF BACON....I'm off pork so I'll for sure go back. The food here is great! The location is bit of a pain to deal with & the wait time is undesirable. However, they take call in orders which is the only way I eat here! I'll call in when I get off work & by the time I drive from downtown my food is ready. When this place fist opened, the service was awful & I had considered never returning. Genius marketing plan.. short your customers something off their order and then tell the customers they can come back for their order of zucchini sticks. Well when you live across town it doesn't make sense. So they put your name on a board and tell you to come in at your convenience and pick up your zucchini sticks. Well who is gonna come back for just an order of zucchini sticks. So you fill out your order with the shorted zucchini sticks. GENIUS.... they sell more stuff, who cares about the meal they ruined.... how about replacing my order when they mess up. I'm sure if their food distributor shorted something they needed to have for their business that the distributor would return and redeliver shorted product. How would they like it if the distributor said "oops sorry" but YOU are gonna have to drive across town and pick up product that they already paid for. Ok I have posted good things about this place I even said that they as good as Rock n Bs and half the price But we went there last week and My Burger was room temperature and I hate it when I get my food at room temp I have always got HOT food from this place until now. I have to say now that 5 star burgers doesn't know how to put out Hot food but instead they tend to serve Room temp to cold burgers. I am very disappointed with this place as they could be the best burger place in Modesto if Only they would make shure that they serve HOT FOOD every time! On our last visit they gave me a room temp burger and that is NOT acceptable. maybe we will have to go back to Rockin Bs and pay the extra money for a HOT Burgers ..My suggestion to 5star is Make shure you serve HOT food and NOT COLD hamburgers Please.. read more

After seeing the jammed packed parking lot at Five Star Burger, and expecting great things, I was disappointed with the food. My husband and I had lunch there recently and after our sandwiches and fries were served, we were told, "sorry, but we ran out of ketchup". Really?? I'm sorry, too, because I like ketchup with my fries. In fact, if I'd had ketchup to dunk them into, I would have really enjoyed the crispy crinkle cuts. I had the fish sandwich, and my husband had a chicken sandwich. We've had far better at both Fast Eddie's MOAB nearby in Modesto, and at Hula's in Escalon. My fish was over breaded and served on a huge bun, and my husband's "grilled" chicken breast looked like it had been microwaved without any seasoning at all. It was pretty good. Far better than what I would get at the typical fast food chains. However, I think I would put The Habit just above Five Star for taste. Best burger we've had in a long time! I had the avocado burger. Everything on it, lettuce, tomato, avocado etc was fresh. Nothing layover under hot lights here. I love the zucchini sticks too. Lots of flavor and it comes with ranch dipping sauce. BF had a bacon(real bacon) cheese burger and had it special ordered cause he's real picky about what he puts on his burger. They were happy to accommodate and it came out perfect. Friendly staff and looks like they have a lot of repeat customers as they knew a lot of them coming in by name which says a lot. I think we have found our new favorite burger place. They serve breakfast too but haven't tried that yet. Prices were very reasonable, and food was tasty! Not in the best of neighborhoods but well worth the trip. Easily overlooked! We'll be going back for sure. They do have a drive thru. read more

This place is just OK. Unfortunately, they recently changed their menu and eliminated some of their best dishes. The burgers are good, but they don't cook their bacon enough for my taste. It should be crispy, not rubbery. They've updated the inside, but not enough to eliminate the feel of an old Taco Bell from 1985. I'll still eat there from time to time, but for the price, it's not worth eating there on a normal basis. Very overpriced in my opinion. read more
