I've been eating burgers in Modesto since the early 1950's. I've had better, and I've certainly had worse. Their double-combo reminded me a bit of Snow White, and it was very tasty. The crinkle fries were done just right, and there was plenty of them in the paper boat. The drink was a large size...not one of those little cheapie sizes. I"m 6'3", 225 lbs, work hard and eat big. I was just able to finish all that came for $6.45. All things considered, especially when considering the price, I will definitely be going back. read more

Halal Chicken Philly Cheese Streak was soooo good! Definitely would eat that again. I didn't like the halal crispy chicken sandwich because it needed a little bit more cheese and it lacked some salt. I'd say if you added another slice of cheese it'd accommodate for the lack of salt in the chicken patty. I also added some avocado to the crispy chicken sandwich but I wouldn't say that added to the lack of salt in the patty. There is a very extensive menu, and the burgers taste good. However, looking through the drive thru window it just doesn't look clean & professional. I hesitate to eat here again because I don't feel I trust it to be sanitary. Having said that, when I ate there it did taste good but it's a little pricier than I expected. read more

Came here Sunday for the first time. Me and my boyfriend have been wanting to try it. We are beyond satisfied. Food was delicious. I had a #3 and he had a #17. I'll be honest after reading the reviews I didn't want to try this place but my bf did so I played it save and ordered chicken strips. He got a double double bacon burger. I had a bite and it was so good (similar to Snow White) tried both the regular & curly fries & they were both seasoned & awesome. I didn't have a problem with the staff, the cashier was friendly. I wouldn't call the place dirty, it's old & looks like Maria's taco shop hmm maybe because it was before. Not over priced at all & I waited close to 15 mins which is not bad for a fresh burger. Love, love, love, this place. We eat here often. The burgers are delicious. I see that people have reviewed the bacon and service time. I would say that if your not willing to wait for your food to be cooked then go to McDonalds and eat the nasty chemically enhanced food. I waited in the drive through for about 8 minutes with two cars I front of me, not too bad. I eat the bacon every time I eat here. The number 9, I'm a fat girl! Definately not a 5 star burger... Very far off. Food all seemed like fozen stuff bought from cosco. Burger patty was thin and spoungy like mcdonalds patties. Food is adequate. Service below sub-par. Very slow. Had to answer the question about whether my order was "for here" or "to go" 3 times within 5 minutes for the same person that was taking my order. Sodas were flat. I am willing to give it one star for its one saving grace. It was cheap; dinner for 3 for less than $20.00. I ordered the pastrami burger and the knockout burger and they reminded me of the scenic drive in burger just less fatty and greasy, and LOVED THE BEEF BACON....I'm off pork so I'll for sure go back. The food here is great! The location is bit of a pain to deal with & the wait time is undesirable. However, they take call in orders which is the only way I eat here! Ok I have posted good things about this place I even said that they as good as Rock n Bs and half the price But we went there last week and My Burger was room temperature and I hate it when I get my food at room temp I have always got HOT food from this place until now. I have to say now that 5 star burgers doesn't know how to put out Hot food but instead they tend to serve Room temp to cold burgers. I am very disappointed with this place as they could be the best burger place in Modesto if Only they would make shure that they serve HOT FOOD every time! After seeing the jammed packed parking lot at Five Star Burger, and expecting great things, I was disappointed with the food. My husband and I had lunch there recently and after our sandwiches and fries were served, we were told, "sorry, but we ran out of ketchup". Really?? I'm sorry, too, because I like ketchup with my fries. In fact, if I'd had ketchup to dunk them into, I would have really enjoyed the crispy crinkle cuts. I had the fish sandwich, and my husband had a chicken sandwich. We've had far better at both Fast Eddie's MOAB nearby in Modesto, and at Hula's in Escalon. My fish was over breaded and served on a huge bun, and my husband's "grilled" chicken breast looked like it had been microwaved without any seasoning at all. Genius marketing plan.. short your customers something off their order and then tell the customers they can come back for their order of zucchini sticks. Well when you live across town it doesn't make sense. So they put your name on a board and tell you to come in at your convenience and pick up your zucchini sticks. Well who is gonna come back for just an order of zucchini sticks. So you fill out your order with the shorted zucchini sticks. GENIUS.... they sell more stuff, who cares about the meal they ruined.... how about replacing my order when they mess up. I'm sure if their food distributor shorted something they needed to have for their business that the distributor would return and redeliver shorted product. How would they like it if the distributor said "oops sorry" but YOU are gonna have to drive across town and pick up product that they already paid for. I'm sure they would be looking for a new distributor. Well I am going to look for a new burger place. Service sucks!!!!!! read more

I want to give it 5 stars but I will try their food a few more times for consistency. As far as fast food goes, I think this is on the top end scale. I had the jalapeño burger and fried mushrooms. It was pretty good. Far better than what I would get at the typical fast food chains. However, I think I would put The Habit just above Five Star for taste.
