My friend and I were headed to Bridgestone Arena for a concert and rather than pay the over-priced cost of under-whelming food within the Arena or fight for a spot in a restaurant in the tourist trap that is lower Broadway we decided to stop at a top-rated spot we've yet to try in Nashville which led us to Five Points Pizza which has the reputation of being the best pizza place in Nashville. I double-checked to ensure they have their own parking available so that we wouldn't be paying twice for parking in one night and saw that they (allegedly) did. We got here pretty early for a dinner crowd (5pm) so getting a seat inside was absolutely no problem. However, the available parking is very, very limited and our server quickly let us know the neighboring businesses are tow-happy so my friend ran out to move his truck to another spot only to find none, but he found a neighborhood street to park in and was back relatively quickly. Anyway, long story short don't count on parking on-site no matter how early you get here but you'll find free parking within walking distance--now what's more important, let's move on to how good the food is, shall we? I hadn't planned on ordering a beer but (a) I wasn't driving and (b) the beers on tap list here is pretty irresistible for any beer drinker. There was a nice mixture of IPA, stout, cider, ale, pilsner, etc. from the area and around the country. No prices listed so I just went with what I felt but the brews were ultimately fairly priced (not sure about any happy hour options). I started with a Left Hand Nitro Milk Stout which was creamy and delicious. We opted for a half order of garlic knots for the ridiculously low price of $4 and they were on our table in under 10 minutes--5 rather large knots dripping with delicious butter, oil and garlic with fresh marinara dipping sauce. I liked these almost more than I liked the forthcoming pizza. For pizza--some interesting options but ultimately we opted for the "Zeus" for it's feta, pork, olives and oil. Thin, airy crust with a splash of sauce, an adequate serving of cheese, and plenty of toppings. Fold it over and chow down. And...it was pretty, pretty, pretty good. I was hyped for the "best ever" pizza and I can't say it was quite that though I hold out hope that one of these pies may fit that bill but it was certainly the best pizza I've eaten in some time since most has been from chain franchise joints. 4.5 I am not sure how I have never professed my love for Five Points, but I'm about to make up for it. Wasn't my first time visiting, not will it be my last. I am a New Yorker raised on this style of pizza and in my eyes, Five Points is the only pizza in Nashville that lives up to the New York style pizza hype. Visited this time with a party of 5 on Tomato Arts Friday, so it was a little more crowded than usual...definitely expect a wait on any weekend evening though. The half star missing here is for the front of house. I feel like we were forgotten about in the herd, and were only seated (after over an hour wait) when we went back to inquire about the table. Please do yourself a favor and order some garlic knots. Yes, they're huge...but I could drink the side of sauce as a meal and be happy. I always order the specialty slices of the day...there will be a meat and a veggie option and generally speaking both are to die for. I have never ordered a full pie, but feel like individual slices are the magic that I miss from the North East. They are cooked perfectly, a beautiful thickness, served on doubled paper plates. Never too greasy, or even worse, not greasy enough. The beer selection is also top notch and this was the first time I noticed they actually do flights of beer here as well. Always a great time at five points pizza! Been here twice and had a fantastic time each time. We ordered a variety of their pizzas the Hot Hawaiian was my favorite but trust me it gets very spicy. Similar to the "Hot" flavour at Hattie B's. Pizza is well made and super tasty here! There is a decent amount of seating. For larger groups you may have to wait a while. We waited around 15 minutes for a table of 6. The servers are super prompt and changed our plate a couple of times. Prices are also amazing. We were (yet again) looking for a late-night place to grab some food after a long day near where we were staying in Nashville. We decided to try Five Points based on their great reviews. We went to the dining room side and ordered a meat pizza with garlic knots and garden salad. The pizza toppings were high-quality and the pizza was perfectly cooked. The garlic knots were ok (I realize that this may not be a popular statement as everyone else on Yelp raves about them). The salad was fresh and a great addition to the oil and carbs of the knots and pizza. The service was exceptional and we didn't realize that we had gotten into the dining room right before they closed. Visited five points on a Sunday around 3pm when there was a home game for the Titans, but we still got seated right away. We started with the spinach salad which was just ok. We went with the a split of old world and the vegetarian pie as a 14inch (Althea smaller size) the portion is pretty big for two so unless you are super hungry I recommend sharing a small pie between two people. I trust Yelp reviews, and check them out first. Very infrequently do they fail me. But this is one case. We had a large pizza for take out. One Yelp compared to NY pizza. My husband and I had just hit up The Soda Parlor when we realized we were hungry. We asked the guys behind the counter and checked Yelp and both options were...Five Point Pizza. This was good enough for us and happened to be a block over! On the way a local bar behind it had live music, in love. Five Point Pizza has a dine in and window for pizzas. We opted to head inside and got spots at the bar instantly. Apparently this place tends to be busy but we were told it was worth it. We told the bartender we'd never been there before and he rattled off some options he thought were awesome and talked about the single slices. The garlic knots were fucking amaze balls, I mean the chunks of yummy garlic and little pieces of basil atop yummy oil rolling down the sides of the crispy yet soft inner rolls of the bread was almost orgasmic. This restaurant upended my decades long feud with pizza. I'm not sure if it was the fact that I came so hungry that I could eat the north end of a south bound bear, or if this place is just a magical portal to flavortown, but I am really into it. Situated in a creative and fun part of town, it was fun to walk around and scope out the little shops and businesses before hopping in. We got garlic knots and a local beer (Jackalope) to start, and I devoured those so quickly that the woman sitting next to us started crying in fear and her husband had to switch places with her so she couldn't see me unlatch my jaw anymore. Anyway, the basil and prosciutto single slices were DELICIOUS. I love the crispy crust. The cannoli was a great way to wrap up the meal. My friend went here a couple weeks ago and would not shut up about how great it was -- "it's the best pizza in Nashville!" I'm not super big on pizza but I tried it to get him to shut up about it. Great pizza dive! Had read an article in the media how this spot made the 50 best pizza places in US. Headed to visit family they confirmed the legend status and off we went to try it out. Sunday afternoon and crowds had died down. The 4 of us sat in a booth along the right hand side. Service was excellent and our waiter seemed happy to answer our food and beer questions. We settled on two whole pies with one split into 2 different topping options. The rocket pie was excellent and had prosciutto- case closed! The other was the Greek and had feta, olives and banana peppers. The split pie had no red sauce as the base the base but we all thought they were excellent. The crust of these pizzas was the kicker. It wasn't thin but also not overly doughy. Pure Pizza bliss! Beers on tap were great and I enjoyed several crafty favorites I learned of back home. Living down the street from this pizza place is dangerous. They've got the best NY style pies in Nashville. Their Brooklyn pie is what dreams are made of. They even have a walk up window where you can grab slices to go. The Yelpers have spoken. It's true, this is the best NY style pizza in Nashville. Honestly, the best pizza I've had PERIOD. Super thin, crispy, perfect sauce to cheese ratio slices that are as big as my face. I love this place. The cheese pizza here is the quintessential, no frills deal where each bite makes you stupidly mouth "oh my god" to your neighbor. I don't like sausage but the sausage green pepper mushroom pizza was delish. You really can't get these flavors and texture in other pizza places.
