Now when I say really good pizza, I'm talking about the mom and pop Italian places in Chicago, New York and Miami that pizza lovers go out of their way to patronize. Well I'm happy to report 5 points pizza is very damn close to ringing that bell. Thin crust that isn't soggy or floppy but sturdy and foldable with semolina on the bottom. The sauce has an appropriate level of spice that compliments the pie not sweet or overpowering garlicky. That the toppings are spot on applied generously. Altogether these come into one to make a beautifully delicious pie. I normally get the plain cheese pizza because when you execute at the high level 5 points does, that's all you need! Me and my son (forget all that 'My son and I bs--it reminds me of some tight-ass no-imagination English professor that wears a red bowtie and counts geese in all the parks in his county on his free time) went to a concert at The Basement East right down the road. If you look carefully at the photo, you will see the slice of pepperoni in the background. My son told me it was the best slice of pizza he has ever eaten. And that's a lot of pizza. In fact, he has taken a photo of every slice of pizza he has ever consumed and posted all of them on his 'Pizza Wall.' His theory is that pizza always puts him in a good mood, so why not always be looking at pizza. Okay, none of that is true, except for the part that he said it was the best pizza he ever had. I genuinely don't understand the hype around Five Points Pizza. The dough was one of the worst parts -- it looked and tasted like it had barely been proofed or allowed to rise at all. The crust came out dense, flat, and stiff like cardboard instead of having any real texture or chew you'd expect from a decent pizza place. What made it even more disappointing was how stingy they were with the toppings. For a place with such a strong reputation, the pizza looked bare and thrown together with the absolute minimum amount possible. The balance between crust, sauce, cheese, and toppings was completely off. For the prices they charge and the popularity they have, I expected something much better. Easy to order online for pickup. I love that there's a separate area for pickup. The area is tiny, but they are efficient. The garlic knots are over the top garlicky and so so good! Like for exercise, not running from Godzilla or anything. My server was some really skinny dude, he was cool though. He took great care of me and made some solid suggestions, one of which I ended up trying. He mentioned the Habanero Cream Pie and I was immediately intrigued. I like pizza, but I love strange, not normal type pizzas even more! This junt was right up my alley. I left off the onions on mine. Do what you like. It came out smokin hot in so many ways! Pizza is amazing and my husband who has trouble processing flour can keep this down, huge win. It's not greasy or gross, just PERFECT!!!!!!!! Their service is great. The second time, I felt that the waitress was unfriendly towards us but thankfully the host stepped in and the last time we ate with my dad and my sisters from out of town it was just okay. My travel buddy went to another local pizza place the night before and paid $35 just for the pizza plus $8 for a draft, so this was definitely the better deal. Man this place was poppin! I found this site off of Dave's one bite pizza list. Wait time was about 20 mins. My sister and I got half pepperoni and half pesto with no mushrooms. I got 1 cheese slice as well. Her husband did a meatball type and something else. We also ordered garlic knots. Service was quick, and our waitress was very attentive. The garlic knots were good, my party enjoyed them greatly! The pizza was really tasty, not what my taste buds wanted but it was still good none the less. The crust was tough to eat, was pretty hard. Five Points Pizza is a great choice f9r pizza. We had lunch here today and the pizza was great. The crust was perfect and the cheese and sauce perfectly complimented that dough and crust. The staff was friendly and the place has a cool enough vibe and ambiance. Parking can be a bit of an issue. But it is what it is. I grew up in New Jersey and just took it for granted that great pizza was available on every corner. When I moved south back in 2001, I was both shocked and dismayed to find that great (or even good pizza) was not available on every corner and in fact, was hard to find. When great pizza is found, it is indeed a time to celebrate (and what better way to celebrate than with a slice of pizza in hand?). Love the hipster vibe of this place as well! 1/2 order of garlic knots (4): These came out hot. There definitely was a lot of garlic, olive oil, and cheese. Loved it! The hubs said the marinara sauce had a slight wine taste that added a nice subtle touch. Veggie slice of the day: This was surprisingly really good! And I'm not one to like veggies. The pineapple and gorgonzola cheese were really unique and what helped provide the unique flavors. The sauce on the pizza really helped give it a nice flavor kick as well. Meat slice of the day: The meat ball slices were really tasty. The hub's comment was that this actually tastes like real meatballs. The cheese and red onion slivers added to the nice flavor profile. Prosciutto & basil slice: So good! The prosciutto and basil were chopped in little slivers so each bite was filled with yumminess. If you like prosciutto then do get this! Pepperoni slice: Just a typical pepperoni slice. There was a good amount of pepperoni to cover the whole slice. Nothing else too special to call out. Each slice is sizable like the New York style, but the crust is slightly different per the hubs. It's crunchier I suppose. We technically didn't do the lunch special since we were dehydrated and preferred water, but the waitress still gave us the discount. Much thanks!
