We were seated in the bar area which had a great ambiance and wasn't too loud to still talk. Windows let in a lot of natural light. Great experience at Five on Vine! The atmosphere is fantastic and the decor is spot on. We got a little bit of everything to try. Not pictured was my favorite of the night: the New Jersey oysters. The hot sauce is home made and brings the heat. The bacon on the house wedge is sweet and perfectly cut. The mussels were a shock. I don't usually like mussels but the curry flavor was immaculate. The truffle fettuccine was very rich with flavor and the noodles were delicious. Personally the meatballs were not to my liking but the rigatoni topped with the ricotta was perfection. I didn't get to try the Pork Chop because it was gone so fast but I heard it was delicious! The only bummer was the Jefferson Manhattan- for $36 expectations were very high and were not met. Overall a great experience and would definitely come back to try more amazing dishes! read more

Service was excellent. We started with steak tar tar and a drink ( bitter virtue) ,both tasted amazing. We had the clam chowder and it was better than some we had in Seattle. I came here during a work trip and was impressed by the nice ambiance and attentive service, as well as the food and drinks. I tried the "Move Slowly" cocktail and thought it had the perfect balance of sweetness and floral notes; I'd highly recommend this drink for gin lovers. This place is swanky and fun, yet inviting! I visited Five on Vine soon after they opened after replacing The Mercer, and came back recently for a catch up with a friend. Dinner and drinks were superb! We sat at the bar which I normally don't love for a full meal and drinks, but it was such a pleasant experience! The bartenders were super friendly and knowledgeable about the ingredients and where they were sourced from, and had fun putting a spin on our espresso martinis (try with reposado tequila!). We split an app and each got our own entrée and we were stuffed. Everything is made with intention--you can tell. I took dessert home and that was also delicious! It's a mid-level to pricier night out, but worth the splurge for a special occasion or if you have a visitor and want to show off what Cincinnati restaurants can do. I've been wanting to try this new restaurant and I'm SO glad I did! I came with a party of 6 for a birthday and Terrell was an amazing waiter to put up with all of us. He also gave us a quick background on the restaurant - it is chef owned, they try to buy local produce as much as possible, they butcher their own meats and make everything in house, including the pasta. We chose to order a bunch of dishes to share which I highly recommend. We ordered the Coccoli, Smoked Shrimp, Cornbread and Mac & Cheese to start. Everything tasted excellent! I'm usually not a big shrimp cocktail person but the seasoning & flavors of the Smoked Shrimp were incredible! Then we ordered the Salmon, French Onion Risotto (it changes from time to time), Smoked Pork Ribs & a House Salad. It was all delicious! Saw this in Cincinnati Magazine and checked out the menu online and I was in. We had the raw oysters, delicious! Cioppino delicious! And the rigatonni delicious! Had I known I'd have had the cioppino on top of the rigatonni. I love to cook and would love to have the rigatonni recipe. It was beyond just a vodka sauce. Great wine selection. Kept changing our reservation time because we were having fun at happy hour in another part of town; fortunately it was a quiet evening and the person who answered phone was lovely and accommodating. We sat in the area they call the main dining room. Highly recommend this area, especially in one of their curved booths. So great for conversation. My husband thought the vodka pasta sauce was the best he's ever had (this is saying ALOT as he's eaten this in hundreds of restaurants). The crab salad was excellent, as was the creamed spinach. The avocado crab was my personal favorite, my only wish is that it came with bread however using the lettuce wraps was a great plus! I wanted to love this place but it was just okay. I enjoyed the vibe of the restaurant, modern yet cozy. The cocktails we ordered were both fantastic. However, the food was a little disappointing. Two of the people at our table ordered steak and the other two pasta. Both pasta dishes were incredibly salty, which made the dishes almost inedible (and I like salty food). Both steaks were good! It could have been an off night in the kitchen so I would come back but the food was disappointing for the price we paid. read more
