We dined here to celebrate Valentine's Day, and this place blew all expectations out of the water. Service, ambiance, and food were exceptional. I usually take pictures of our food to include in my reviews, but there was no shot -- the food was gone in a blink. Cocktails were unique, refreshing, and delicious (When Pigs Fly, Moneypenny). We shared three mains -- cioppino, truffle fettuccine, and filet mignon. Every dish was perfectly seasoned, packed with flavor, and came out piping hot. Finished the meal with the hummingbird cake, which was a huge portion -- not too sweet and went perfect with tea. We will absolutely be back, excited to try the rest of the menu. read more

Not always a fan of southern food, but this place was delicious! We sat outside, and didn't love all the street noise, so I can't speak to the true ambiance of this place. It looked cozy inside, so I'll try to get a spot inside next time. We ordered the cornbread, the pot roast, and a side of mashed potatoes, which was more than enough for the two of us to share. Everything tasted great! My Emerald Dream cocktail was delicious as well. Service was friendly and helpful with drink suggestions. It got a little slow by the time we were ready for our check, but it was a busy Saturday night, so I don't fault them for this. read more

Great job by the whole staff. Very nice people; friendly, good looking, energetic,hospitable,knowledgeable, and seem to enjoy working together. The room had an energy of excitement that evening. Pretty much a full house when we were there,and could still hear the conversation going on at our table. The decor looked professionally done,and not cookie cutter. It felt like a well decorated home you were invited to for dinner. On the food. Everyone enjoyed each meal. Be advised that the rigatoni is a bit spicy hot. Enjoyed it myself. Five on Vine is arguably one of the best restaurants in Cincy. I've been here a few times and always have amazing food. Just tried the squid ink spaghetti with clams - incredible! Loved the garlic sauce and the lemon brought all the valors together. I also love the short rib stroganoff and the cornbread. read more

Spent 24hours in Cincinnati for date night and decided to try the Five on Vine. The star of the show was the caesar salad. I wish I had a photo to share but I devoured it before even realizing I forgot to take a photo. The dressing was perfectly salty and had a rich umami flavor, the spin on traditional croutons with salt and vinegar chips instead were crispy and a nice touch. We also had the artichoke appetizer and coconut shrimp (which I also don't have photos of ) the artichoke has this amazing lemony remoulade atop but weren't fleshy at all; the lack of heart and fleshy portion made them they quite disappointing. The coconut shrimp were large in size and included more than I was expecting but in my opinion were nothing to write home about. As far as entrees go we ordered the pork chop and the mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were buttery and delicious and the pork chop was perfectly cooked. The accompaniment of the braised greens, spiced carrots and apple chutneywith the pork chop balanced the salty with a sweet touch. read more

Five on Vine surely deserves its spot as one of Cincy's best new restaurants. The dishes we enjoyed had a surprising twists of flavor that delighted us. We started with the fried green tomatoes and OTR Wellingtons, both of which I'd recommend. I loved the thick pieces of bacon on the fried green tomatoes. They complemented tart tomatoes perfectly. For my main, I had the pork chop. Oh my days! It's the kind of dish that makes others jealous when it comes out. It was thick and juicy. The twist came from the accompanying kale- just the right amount of acid and cooked tender, creating a sweet and sour experience with the apple mostrada. I can't wait to return and try some of the dishes my companions had, such as the cioppino which was huge and looked amazing. Lovely ambiance for a special night out. read more

The food was great as always. Been there a few times tho I will say the last time was giving different vibes then my first few experiences. There was a girl with green hair there at one point very kind friendly seenbus and was instantly excited. She knows we're are great tippers usually in and out. However a different group of servers were there the night of my engagement dinner and they were very nasty with the attitude almost as if it was a debate who would take our table on. We still sat down ate had a great dinner and eventually the server came too. But was a bit rocky at first. No bread crumbs on salad they used potato chips which was different but tasty. read more

My husband and I stopped in before a show and we were surprised to find even the bar seating is reserved! Must be a good sign that we were in for a treat.. the hosts were wonderful, set us a little table for a quick meal. Walking in felt like a reprieve from the wet cold outside, the decor is well done, the furniture comfortable and classy, and the lighting low and romantic. We started with cocktails, they have a great cocktail list, my husband was very excited about the martini options. I had the emerald dream first then the bandit, loved both, want to try more next time! For food we started with the Fried green tomato which was amazing, so different than any other fried green tomatoes I've had before, in such a good way. We both agreed we could have eaten another order. Next I had the smoked shrimp cocktail while my husband had the oysters. Both were wonderful, I loved the smoked shrimp flavor, so different than your typical shrimp cocktail. We decided to go for pasta instead of the meat options for our entrees. We came here on a late evening on opening day. We had tried to go to a different restaurant before we came here, but due to bad service and drunk disrespectful customers we decided upon five on vine instead. I'm beyond thrilled that we did. The restaurant vibe was so relaxing and chill. There weren't many people dining - which is an absolute shock due to how AMAZING the service, ambiance, and food was. Our server was also bartending and he was absolutely on point. Not once during our meal did he leave us needing anything. Drinks were made perfectly. Each course came out perfectly timed, hot, and fresh. I could go into detail about each dish but there isn't enough room on this review. Every single thing we ordered was 10/10... and we ordered a ton of food. Portions were large. Quality was HIGH. I think my favorite dish was the beef tartare. WOW! If you're considering this place for a meal, trust me when I say TRY IT! Worth every penny. I hope our city continues to support this fantastic restaurant. This is quickly becoming one of my favorites in Cincy. We love their sister restaurant, Losanti. However, this place has Losanti's cocktails beat by far! My favorites are the love getting out there and the business. Food is also amazing! I've had the fried green tomatoes, five fries, truffle fettuccine, and vodka rigatoni. All of them were delicious. They also handled my fiancés gluten, dairy, and egg allergy perfectly, and made him an allergy free steak, which he enjoyed. Service has always been good and very professional! Also just love the ambience of this place and the large windows so you can watch everything going passed outside. Only complaint would have to be the price of the cocktails. Though I've very curious to know what a $30 margarita tastes like. Maybe I'll try it one day read more

Like their sister restaurants we have attended (our favorite being Losanti), Five in Vine delivers on service, ambiance, and a delicious menu (both food and drinks)! Truly, we haven't had better service anywhere else than these restaurant. They always manage to be courteous, professional, friendly, and make it feel worth paying a little bit more for a night out. Dirty martini is the best martini I've ever had in my life. The olives were so buttery I dream about them. The espresso martini is exactly what I envision an espresso martini to taste like. It was smooth and creamy but not super sweet or tasting like Bailey's. The food was great and the service was great. We had some seafood and tartar to start. Had a lovely dinner prior to going to see Moulin Rouge at the Aronoff. Made a reservation a few hours beforehand (it was a Thursday). Greeted and seated right away. We requested outside seating. It was a lovely day and they had plenty of umbrella coverage. This is a very nice restaurant. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. We started with the crabbed stuffed avacado. It was delicious and plenty to share. They provide lettuce to make wraps. Then we each had Truffle Fettuccine which was scrumptious. It was large enough size that we didn't finish either of ours. We shared a Green Bean and Mushroom Casserole and hardly made a dent in it. Size is plenty to share with four people. But it was delicious also. Would definately go back again, this is one of those places that I am sure everything is delicious and would be worth trying everything on the menu. read more

so, business dinner. nice place inside, attentive service and at 6pm on a Monday pretty empty, which I like. we had the fried green tomato and tuna tar tar apps. fried green had a chunk of pork belly on top that was tough as jerky and i honestly could not cut through the tomato w a knife. the tuna had decent flavor but bland presentation, no crackers?! and tiny portion size. the filet was good nothing special. the glazed carrots were undercooked kinda tough. overall with tip 450 bucks. we did have a wine bottle and a few cocktails on top. i just was totally underwhelmed by the food. really average night for us. read more

Nice place, fantastic bar with talented bar staff. Alex presented outstanding craft cocktails. Inside was a little noisy (the music, it wasn't crowded), so we ate outside so we could talk. That was a mistake. The ambiance outside on a Thursday night was a zoo that brought all outside conversation to a halt every few minutes. Knuckleheads doing stunts on motorcycles and cranked car stereos going back and fourth all night, and one pedestrian with a huge pull behind speaker at full volume standing on the sidewalk in front of us for several minutes. It was almost like the locals were trying to drive away business with the same dozen cars and motorcycles driving back and forth in front of the place, over and over. Table service was not in the same league as the bar staff. A bit slow, and strangely, our server convinced us to reduce our food order because our table would be too cluttered. (We only ordered 2 main dishes, a salmon salad and side of risotto for our party of four). The meatloaf was creative and tasty and the risotto was good. Sit inside, at the bar, if you go. read more

I couldn't eat the tuna Tartare. It comes with a rice noodles and I asked for bread instead. I was charged for the breat and it was flavorless. I didn't eat any of it. The server noticed but didn't ask and just took my full plate without a comment or suggestion for an alternative. I was very disappointed. read more

The ambiance was absolutely amazing and perfect for a date night! I went for my birthday and it gave all the vibes. The service was superb! My husband and I went to Five on Vine for our anniversary and it was a great choice. I could only get a reservation at a high top in the bar, which meant the quarters were a little tight but it worked. I recommend the dining room if you can get it because the ambience is much better. We shared a wedge salad and cornbread to start. Both were excellent. I had a dirty martini with olives stuffed with ricotta, blue cheese and truffle oil. Yum! Ask for them! For our entrees we had the crab and shrimp scampi and the filet with blue cheese butter. For sides we got the roasted carrots and lobster Mac and cheese. Everything was absolutely delicious. I only give four stars because the service was a bit slow and we sat with dirty dishes in front of us for quite some time after we ate our salads. I understand it was a busy Friday night but servers brought drinks and still did not offer to clear plates. That being said, I love this restaurant group and will most certainly be back. Both very good, however you can't add a protein to the truffle pasta but it was still filling and flavorful. When ordering please don't forget the corn bread as an appetizer. We recently tried Five On Vine for the first time...I have no idea what took us so long to go but I'm SO glad we finally did! We had an incredible experience! The atmosphere was lively and bustling but not overly loud. Our server, Grant, couldn't have been a better steward for our experience; his recommendations were spot on and he explained the dishes in a way that we would have never interpreted from the way they're written (suggestion to the owner - tap Grant for your menu writing when you update again!). We all loved our meals. We started with the OTR Wellingtons (basically imagine if a pig in a blanket had a little baby with a meaty popover and viola!) served with a sweet dijonaise sauce and we all loved them! For all of our meals we had the mussels, bone-in pork chop, lobster mac, green bean and mushroom casserole, five fries, filet, and crab stuffed shrimp. Everyone was raving about their food! I tasted most things and I will say the standout for me was the bone-in pork chop! If I didn't want to make my way down the rest of the menu I'd have no trouble at all ordering it again on our next visit. I'm not a Mac n cheese fan so the lobster Mac was lost on me but the green bean and mushroom casserole and fries were perfect! I was slightly let down that the mussels didn't taste the same as what used to be at Crown Republic but they were still very good. The only things I didn't taste were the filet and the crab stuffed shrimp. I can't wait to go back and try more delectable items from the menu and dig in to some of those handmade pastas! read more

Boasting 100% from scratch meals, that taste as if they were made in your grandma's kitchen, the service is quick but refined. Our server was very knowledgeable and helpful with excellent recommendations from drinks to appetizers and even dessert. She was also thoroughly efficient and fulfilled our every need. Though broken into two areas a main dining room and a front dining room, the ambiance remains cozy and suitable for a family meal, a nice anniversary spot for a group or a date night to score some points. As stated before the food was outstanding and though pricey the drinks were well worth it and delightful. Tips to make your visit a success: 1) Expect an elevated home cooked meal. Pot roast, meatloaf and chicken all done excellently but not fancy. This is American dining polished to shine well. 2) Don't shy away from the drinks.
