Mama's cookie cheesecake
Tucker B.

We made a reservation for a buddy's birthday dinner and this did not miss! Everything brought was great and the portions are huge. I had the pork chop and it was cooked well. The cheesecake was HUGE, it could definitely feed 2. The chill atmosphere was nice and the service was great too. Our waitress was personable, answered everything question, and made the experience enjoyable. 10/10 would give it a shot if you haven't been!

Love Getting Out There

My girlfriends and I treated ourselves to a fun Galentine's dinner at a five Kitchen & Bar this past weekend. We had the best time and enjoyed everything we ordered! Jenna was our server and while she may be newer to this restaurant, she was a pro! She had great drink and food recommendations. Our meal was very much a "girl dinner". Cocktails from the Elderflower Gimlet, Love Getting Out There, champagne, and wine of course. Then instead of full meals we ordered a variety for everyone to share. For the table we had the Slow Roasted Meatballs, Broiled Artichoke, Burrata, and Frommage Fries. Everything was amazing! I wish we weren't too full to order more. Next time I have to try the Gnocchi Stroganoff! Instead of dessert we finished with Espresso Martinis, which had the perfect balance of sweet.

Truffle fettuccini with mushrooms added

Tried out Five kitchen for date night and was impressed with the vegetarian options. They also had an extensive cocktail and mocktail menu. Some of the mocktails were more expensive than the cocktails which was strange and we'd perhaps skip on drinks next time. We enjoyed the vodka rigatoni that had a nice kick with actual sliced Calabrian chilis. Also enjoyed the truffle fettuccini. The waiter recommended adding mushrooms to it which tasted great but also came with a $6 charge we were unaware of. We ended the night with a cookie dough cheesecake, nice size and on the menu said it included a fresh baked cookie on top which it did, but there was also a cookie charge on the bill. Highlight was definitely the delicious vodka rigatoni. Did not care for the up charged drinks or surprise charges on the bill at the end.

Honestly one of my favorite spots in the city. If you're in need of a date night or girls night, head here! The ambiance is great, think dimly lit, intimate but cool vibes. Now on to the food which is out of this world. I'm gonna tell you right now, you need the vodka pasta in your life. Crispy sage, the creamiest cause and noodles, then as a treat pesto dolloped throughout. Secondly, you need to finish with the chocolate chip cookie cheesecake. It is as insane as it sounds. Chocolate chip cookies as the base, in the middle, and on top. So good! The service is amazing as well, feel free to ask questions to help round out your experience.

Truffle fettuccine ehhhhhh wasn't my fav

Food- apps were great we got the pigs in a blanket which had a great sweet and savory flavor with the flaky pastry and really good honey mustard on the side. Caesar was really yummy and was topped with salt and vinegar chips, so I really enjoyed that!! I had the best espresso martini that I'd ever had here, so I'd reccomend that. Now the entrees. The truffle fettuccine wasn't all that and I really was excited for it. It need more Parmesan and although the noodles were cooked great, they didn't have much flavor :/. And the vodka rigatoni had a spice in it that we were not expecting, so the entrees were a flop here. But we liked the vibe in the place and service:)

The new menu is great. We had the spicy vodka pasta and the seafood soup dish? It was so yummy. We started with the artichoke which was an experience to eat and I hadn't had it like that ever before so flavorful (recommended by our waiter). The best and highlight of my meal was the chocolate chip cookie CHEESECAKE! Are you kidding me So yummy 10/10

Such a diverse and playful menu. There was literally something for everyone. The staff were so kind and the ambiance was warm but lively. We enjoyed everything that we ordered and would definitely go back to try a few more things on the menu.

Hmm, this time was not as stellar as the others. Service was great, atmosphere always is, but we waited unusually long for our mains considering there were only 10 people in the place (I think because of an early Bengals game). I just wanted to comment on what we ate as the menu has changed since Five changed their name. Tuna Tartare actually ate as a ceviche, not a tartare. The rice cake was fun though. The mussel broth was fantastic, but there was only 12, yes 12, mussels. They were tiny and mealy and fell apart as we tried to put our fork in them. We have never been served that small amount of mussels anywhere. Disappointing. And they charged us $2 for an extra small piece of bread because we were sharing. Really? The steak and sauce of the steak frites was SO salty, which was a shame because the steak was cooked perfectly medium rare and tender. The fries were soggy. The ricotta gnocchi was good but, in our opinion, way over-sauced and too rich when the gnocchi are already made with ricotta.

I really love Crown Restaurant group. The vibe is great. Our server Chuck was awesome. The food wasn't my favorite of all the Crown groups, but it was good. We tried 4 of the 5 pastas family's style. My favorite was the rigatoni with meatballs.

Vodka Rigatoni - calabrian chili, herbed ricotta, garlic w/ Gracie's Meatballs
Scott N.

We had reservations at 5:45 on a Tuesday before a show at Memorial Hall. There was a large group maybe celebrating something, but other than that the place was empty. We wrapped up dinner a little after 7:00 and by then the place was bustling. Our server, Grant, was great. He was full of information and just attentive enough. I ordered a Negroski, the vodka cousin of the Negroni. It wasn't on the cocktail menu; just something I had a hankering for. I knew I wanted the Tenderloin Steak Tartare - capers, olives, garlic confit, calabrian chili aioli. It was very good. You might guess from the ingredients it was a bit salty and slightly sour (not in a bad way). I squeezed the lemon over the tartare because it was there so I assume it was meant to squeeze. The bread served with the tartare was outstanding. It had a slight buttery flavor. Three slices would have been better. It took a lot of planning to spread (literally) the tartare across the two delicious pieces provided. Mark ordered the Corn Bread with Honey Butter. I tried it; it was delicious! It was a lot, which I guess is a good thing, but by the time dessert rolled around we were kinda stuffed. Mark and I both opted for pasta. Mark had Vodka Rigatoni - calabrian chili, herbed ricotta, garlic with Gracie's Meatballs. He raved about it. He said it was the best sauce he's ever had. He wanted to buy a jar of it! I had Truffle Fettuccine - black truffle, herb, parmesan. I was excited, but a bit worried. Sotto serves up an amazing truffle pasta that is outstanding. I needn't worry; the truffle fettuccine at Five on Vine was fabulous! Because we weren't in a hurry, we decided we'd give dessert a try. We wanted something light and opted for Caramel Gelato with a Chocolate Chip Cookie served with Espresso. Oh my, it was delicious. We shared it and it was the perfect bite. Taking a spoonful of gelato and dipping it into the espresso resulted in a perfectly yummy combination. We often find ourselves at Memorial Hall. We will add Five on Vine into our rotation of pre-show dinners.

Sazerac

I truly enjoyed my first experience at Five. I was with a big party, but the staff took great care of everything from drink timing to salads and entree timing. They even split a dessert between two people. I am a gluten-free pescetarian so I went in knowing I only had a few options, but I was surprised and delighted by a salmon special. (Don't call me basic, it was good!) I also had a Sazerac and tasted the truffle fries which were delicious, and everyone in my party loved their food as well. I look forward to returning.

Celebrated a friend's birthday here and enjoyed the experience. Great atmosphere, good drinks and great food. She had the pork chop and loved it. I had the steak and a side of mushrooms that I'll never forget.

I don't love the cocktail bars with aloof service that seem to think ignoring you is excellent customer service. The happy hour slaps - the prices are actually really good and it goes until 7pm. My bestie is obsessed with their low price on La Marca. I have tried several of their daiquiris and cocktails and haven't found a loser yet. They don't have food but that just means they are pet-friendly. There is plenty of food in the area (for pete's sake, OTR Kroger is across the street). I wouldn't mind some snack availability but it's fine. I love the Key West/Hemingway-inspired decor. You'll be comfortable no matter how dressed up or dressed down you are. I love when the weather allows for the big windows to be open. The patio is great people watching. There is also several parking options nearby. The meters on Court St, a pay lot on the next block, or if you spend at least $15 at Kroger, you can get three hours of free parking. And that's the perfect amount to spend on snacks! Check out Pilar if you're looking for a laid-back vibe and decor but top-shelf service and cocktail options. Don't forget your dog!

Be aware it will be FAST. Look at the order ahead of time if you're a picky eater/drinker. They run your appointment like clockwork, and you'll be in-and-out, gulping down cocktails, through the entire experience. Your two drinks are included (this year, anyway), and I'd honestly be surprised if you managed to have time for a third. Time zips by fast. That being said, because they do it this way, you essentially have constant service, there's "events" that happen at the end of your reservation time, (I don't want to spoil it, but cover your drink!), and then they kick you out. Service was friendly, though, and I saw the server make time to take group photos for all of the tables (including ours) with someone at the table's camera. (No bullshit "group photo" upsells here) It's kinda loud, though, and I wouldn't recommend this as a chill meet-up-and-socialize spot. (If you wanna talk, they have an addendum, Christmas-themed laid-back bar next door.) It's more of a "get blasted in the face by Christmas for an hour and then leave" experience. It's pretty loud, and talking can be a bit difficult over the music and constant interruptions (more drinks? Photos? Cute Christmas video montage?) But this works in its favor as it feels the most Christmas, over-the-top, and seasonal out of all the holiday bars I've ever been to. It also keeps it from feeling too crowded as reservations are required, so you for-sure have a seat and you don't have to stand forever in line to wait for drinks. I'd probably guesstimate that bar staff is making all of their seasonal drinks, constantly, and servers just pick one up to deliver. With the capacity in here, it would make sense. No idea what the bar is like the rest of the year; this is just a review for the Miracle pop-up which, again, is probably the best I've been to in the Midwest. Cincinnati, you're spoiled down here. (Sidenote, I was absolutely taken aback by their TV presentation on the wall. It's hard to describe, but it isn't just a projector showing a giant rectangle. It's specifically slotted into the holes in-between holiday decorations. Staff told me that had to hire special technicians to get it to show up that way and that's seriously a level of detail I am so amazed by.)
