Posted- Front Door. Failure to pay the city the sales taxes it collected from customers. (1400 I St. NW- at McPherson Square Metro station)
James L.

As you can see this was (previously) my favorite 5 Guys around. Friendly staff, clean restaurant and yes, for sure served up the only burger worth eating in DC...5 guys signature burgers and the only Iced Tea- Gold Peak. Very sad to learn that this location has been CLOSED (maybe temporarily) by the city because the owner hasn't paid the city it's sales tax collected, owing the city over $500,000. For me, all the goodness this restaurant was, takes a backseat to the fact that this owner/business cheated my city out of sales taxes it collected from paying customers. WORSE- the owner cheated and stole from me, their customer, by charging me sales tax on my delicious hamburger, out of this world french fries (grease gladly accepted) and Gold Peak Sweet Iced Tea...pocketed that sales tax and never turned it over to the city I live in and that it serves. You've cheated me and you've cheated my city. If this location pays up and re-opens that's great for the city, great for the economy of our our city and great for hungry customers wanting a great burger but, for me, you only steal from me once. I won't ever return.

Great burger! High prices compared to other restaurants but definitely worth it. I love that all add-ons are free. Definitely recommend!

Delicious casual Indian fusion bowl concept with healthier options than Spice 6 and Bindaas Bowls…read morein Chinatown with supergrains, quinoa, and a galore of veggies! The food isn't greasy and has a mild spicy kick! I really like the updated menu with Classic Indian Plates and Burritos. The Saag Paneer is delicious with large chunks of paneer. It has a mild spicy kick and the quinoa was perfectx to pair it with. It's really easy to go overboard with the galore of toppings with the DIY bowl option (made that rookie mistake a couple of times!). The menu and classic bowls are a great place to start! The sauces are very flavorful and the Tikka Tomato and Garlic sauce has a spicy kick! The Caul Me Maybe with Tofu and Cauliflower and peanut sauce and Eat Your Veggies bowl with a heap of veggies and Coconut and Ginger sauce are my favorites! The lemon turmeric rice and supergrains are my jam as a base (leafy greens can't absorb the curry and don't pair well) with Peanut or the Coconut and Ginger Sauce. The fresh tender Tofu and Cauliflower and onions are my protein pick, the Sweet Potato meatball Tikki are a bit mushy. My favorite veggies are sauteed spinach, great way to get in my greens (the salads don't pair well with the curries)! The baingan bharta eggplant is quite flavorful (the channa masala isn't bad, but not my top pick). The beets, cucumbers, carrots, and corn salsa topped with crunchy pumpkin seeds are my favorite toppings. The lentil chips and chickpea noodles "sev" are also fun toppings! The service has notably gone down at this location as well as the Crystal City location, but the menu has expanded with more food options. Rasa has delicious, healthy Indian food, and part of my lunch rotation!

The build a bowl concept is not hip anymore. The basics are there to make it work with Indian food, but the execution wasn't. I had an option for a greens or grains bowl but their salad looked weak so I went with quinoa, which is not exactly Indian but is good. I ended up with paneer; their veggie option was potato and cauliflower which is neither good nor high in protein. The paneer was a respectable portion, but the overall bowl was a bit weak, when you consider that you only get to add one vegetable (out of two choices), and a few smaller fixins at the end. I appreciated that they offer a chai with oat milk, which was pretty good. The food just didn't get to what I wanted in terms of variety of options. A fast casual Indian place should have three different dals, various breads and street foods, and a whole lot more than two vegetables.

Honestly we were so pleasantly surprised by how good the burgers are! I had the Capital Burger which had such incredible flavor and the burger itself is thick and juicy. Despite having just had a big dinner somewhere else, as I write this, my mouth is watering. My daughter had the wild mushrooms burger and she loved it -- the aioli had the perfect tang to go with the mushroom and Swiss, both burgers were cooked perfectly medium as requested. The old fashioned was just your typical old fashioned with a slice of candied bacon attached to the outside of the glass. We were hoping for something smokier and a little different but it was still a very good Old Fashioned. We shared the chocolate mousse and it was perfection. Yum! If I lived here this would be my new regular spot.

I had the blue cheese and black truffle cheeseburger, with bacon, and it was good. . Very good. I could not identify or really pinpoint where the black truffles came in, but the beef was well seasoned. The additions were a dollar too expensive across the board so I skipped those. The fries were sort of stereotypical, nothing really fancy about those. I debated about having the truffle fries, but didn't really wanna pay the extra three dollars. Bless my server, he didn't know what black truffles were, either. The Reesie's peanut butter cup Skrewball milkshake was quite good. Good use of Skrewball. Could've done with a little more alcohol, but what a great combination. Good taste. Vanilla ice cream and peanut butter all the way through. My only .. concern.. were the pickles. There's this NoVA chain restaurant that serves POPCORN before the meal, which I think has to be the most depressing, unappetizing, lazy and cheap way to start a meal. Capital Burger servers sliced sweet pickles in a jar. That.. is a step up from popcorn, but not by much... If I was in the mood for a burger and boozy milkshake, this would be on the list, but not my first choice.

SweetGreen location is for "pick-up" only. Sweetgreen charged me $19.56 to my card. When I went to the location to retrieve the order, the Manager (a short, Hispanic male) told me that their power had been down, so they hadn't received any orders. Yet, your company charged me $19.56. I asked him to provide me a refund, and he stated he does not know how to do that. He told me that I will need to request a refund through the app or the website. I go to my app and pull up the website from my cell phone and asked him, where do I request a refund? His exact words were, "I DON'T KNOW". I asked him for the number to Corporate or to someone in customer service who does know and can answer questions that he clearly did not know, and his response to me again was. "I DON'T KNOW". I spent 35 minutes of my lunch hour in there with no help, no refund, no food and not knowing how to request assistance for the refund. I left, went back to my office, and logged back into SweetGreen's website, where I placed the order. I logged into my account, only to find that all the contact numbers for SweetGreen were not working or out of service, and they only allow you to chat with AI. I explained in detail with AI. Heitzel R. stated she could assist me further, and after that I sent an additional 5 messages because Heitzel R. stopped responding to me. Then I received a message stating that the chat ended. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? No one was able to assist, and at this point, I'm EXTREMELY FURIOUS, I'm out of $19.56, I didn't get a chance to eat lunch, and my problem has YET to be RESOLVED. I will NEVER in my LIFE order from this place again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also, I would've given this location ZERO STARS if I could, but unfortunately, Yelp does not allow that.

We've only eaten at Canes in Nashville but weren't overly pleased that time! This time wasn't much better. Our meals were definitely prepared quickly for as busy as the location appeared to be. We both ordered a 3-finger combo with fries and a large drink. The meals were NO WHERE close to resembling the meals in the picture menu featured in the order kiosk. The chicken fingers were barely the size of sardines and the fries barely matched the size of a kids McDonald's happy meal French fry (approximately 15 non-crinkle cut fries.) The drinks delivered were normal medium size drinks at any other chain... passed off as large drinks. The Cane's sauce tasted very diluted or watered-down. This was NOT a visit that would make us want to return to this location nor to the chain in another location. Absolutely NOT a $27 meal but most definitely an unexceptional experience.

Hubs enjoyed his cheesesteak but he prefers meat. I had a bite and thought it was really flavorful and very closely tasting like the real thing. I noticed later this is a chain, which is pretty cool. I think the prices were pretty steep so I might skip on the fries next time. The food could have been warmer as well. Definitely worth a visit and will most likely be back when in DC again.
