I've been to Gastropubs with their higher prices and expensive interior and their Burger & Fries weren't nearly as good as this place. The Swiss Mushroom Burger. - The beef so tender, juicy and perfectly seasoned served right off the grill. - The Mushrooms were sauteed al dente. Not raw. Not floppy. Perfect. - The Bun and the melted Swiss cheese were at it like a perfect Tango. ..............The aroma of all this had me smiling before I even had my first bite. The Curly Garlic Fries. - You could feel and taste the crisp ridges of the cut of the fry gently but justly coated in fresh garlic....finishing off with the taste of moist potato flakes inside. OMG we both had forgotten how damn good these Fatburgers are! (We calculated that we last ate Fatburger burgers 9 or 10 years ago, in Seattle). Your burgers were cooked fresh on site, VERY generous portions, SO juicy and delicious, with maple bacon and just the perfect ratio and types of condiments. (My kid is very particular about condiment-to-protein ratios. Don't ask!). Super super good. And the fries! I am not usually a "fries" person. In fact, in years past, whenever we went to Fatburger in the States, I always got their onion rings (which were fantastic). But these fries were amazing: VERY hot, very crispy, not greasy at all, and the small size was actually huge (my kid IS a "fries" person and she said the small size here is the same as a generous medium or even a large order in other places. FYI). I was heartened to see that they still have milkshakes on their menu. We remembered their milkshakes as being fabulous back in the day. I'd imagine they still are. We got our order to take out. It took a while for them to make our food, but hey, it's all made to order, fresh, so the wait was worth it. Fancy or gourmet? Not at all. But good? Heck, yeah!

This changed yesterday when I tried the one in Park Royal. First thing I noticed was how clean the place was and orderly and the service matched the environment. Friendly and efficient. The Burgers were beautifully put together. Not overcooked and not squashed like most Five Guys, and the fries were the highlight. Stunningly cut and served piping hot fresh. All I gotta say is..... The Park Royal Five Guys made me give Five Guys another shot. Well done.
