This Five Guys is located inside of the West Village Shoppes in Smyrna/Vinings. The mixed use plaza features a Starbucks, Blue Moon Pizza, apartments, a sushi spot and several other local retail shops and eateries. For the most part, this Five Guys is a standard location featuring the big bags of potatoes/peanuts, bright red steaming and decor and of course, the delicious, yet pricey, burgers along with overflowing bags of fresh fries! When it comes to "fast food", Five Guys easily has the best burger. While there are thousands of combinations of toppings, I am a burger purest and always go mayo, cheese and bacon...and if I'm feeling frisky, I'll add onions and mushrooms. The burger is always excellent, and of course I look forward to the bucket and a half of fries. This locations service is hit and miss. I have experienced really friendly service, and on the other hand have experienced lackluster and less than friendly service. Never rude, but "meh". The store is always clean and is in good condition for a place that's been around for as long as this location has. Pricing is a bit much, but that's a Five Guys thing and not per location. Absolutely terrible experience. I waited an entire HOUR for my order, which is already ridiculous. Then when I got home and opened the bag, the order was wrong. I ordered two burgers, one with mayo and one without, and both of them were SMOTHERED with mayo. I hate mayo, so the burger that was supposed to be without it was completely ruined and inedible for me. On top of that, this was a $30 order, so it's incredibly frustrating to pay that much and not even be able to eat the food. After waiting that long, the least they could do is get the order right. I came here with my fiancé to try five guys for the first time. I had only ever had a milkshake so I never tried the food but had heard great reviews. The store was clean and bright and the service was relatively quick for made to order. I ordered the little cheese burger with mayonnaise, lettuce, and tomato. He order the cheeseburger. The difference between the regular and little hamburger is that the regular has two patties while the little version has one patty. For context I do not typically like hamburgers but I was very pleased with my burger! It was very filling and delicious. We also ordered a large fry to share and it was humongous! The fries were also good. They had seasoning as well to put on the fries which we had on the side. It was flavorful but very strong so I'm glad it was on the side. We then ordered a hot dog to try which was also very good. Lastly we ordered milkshakes, I ordered a salted caramel shake with bacon bits and he ordered an Oreo cookies shake. Both of us were very very pleased with the shakes! The salted caramel was very flavorful and the bacon bits added a nice savory contrast to the sweetness. I really enjoyed my shake! Overall I was very pleased with my meal and service. The only reason why I am giving 4 stars is how expensive everything is. Went to this location at 7pm on a Tuesday. All of the doors were locked. Had to be let in by another customer! Then waited for 15 mins without anyone saying anything. No signs on the doors btw. Then finally after speaking to another customer we were told they were only taking " online orders".. all while the website wasn't even working to make the order online. Such a waste of time. Super unpleasant and unprofessional experience overall.. and tbh I totally understand being busy, but that's no excuse to completely lock people out.. even doordashers were noticeably upset because they could not get inside to pick up their delivery orders! I have had several bad experiences at the restaurant over the past year. The food did not taste fresh and it was so oily that we all felt sick after tasting it. The service is also very bad. Even when I place my order online and call to inform them I am within minutes of arriving at the restaurant, i still have to wait for them to look for the order, look for the food, look for bags to put the food in, try to figure out how to get the food in the bag, even when there are no other customers at the counter. read more

Then the entire reason for ordering curbside is blown all to "heck" .... have to go inside only to not be greeted by an apology ;especially after giving a nice cash ti, but to be greeted with skepticism. Last time I stopped in I didn't have such a great experience. Today was a little bit different. For whatever reason, my spirit said today is the day for a burger. Not just any burger but a Five Guys burger. Luckily it wasn't busy at all. Walked in and although the cashier was handling other customers, she made it a pint to greet each person that walked in. I placed my order and notice that the prices have gone up a little bit so you definitely are gonna spend at least $8 for a little burger and little fries. I settled on the little bacon cheeseburger with some good ol "free" condiments and a little fry which came up to about $10 plus change. Compared to the last time I came in, I didn't wait a long time for my order to be called and it was super hot. I already knew this was gonna be a goooood dinner. A staple when you're craving a quick, delicious burger and fries. I have been to this location a couple of times and have experienced friendly service each and every time. The crew at the counter and the folks cookin' up the deliciousness in the back are always smiling and working quickly to getcha whatcha need. Can't be mad at that! Their burgers are fresh and you can stack 'em with some tasty add-ons. My personal fave is a lil bacon cheeseburger all the way minus mushrooms, which includes ketchup, mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato, pickles and grilled onions. 100% beef burger patties and you can totally taste it - it's a solid burger choice. The Cajun style fries are bae. I love Cajun seasoning on just about everything, so this is like kryptonite to me. You'll only need one order to share between 2 people! Pro tip: dump the fries into the brown paper bag and shake, shake, shake to ensure no drop of seasoning is left at the bottom of the bag. I really like 5 Guys. It's a great alternative to fast food. I usually get a Little Burger ($4.49) and Little Fries ($2.89) which is plenty of food. If you're super hungry you can up-size everything. The burgers are made to order and delicious. I like to keep mine simple. The fries are a bit greasy but soooo good. I noticed you don't get as many fries as you used to. So the food is good that's never really a problem but the service not so much. The staff is not efficient at all. They prepare and distribute orders out of sequence and the logic is the smaller orders go out first.... We waited much longer than we really should've as 4 orders behind us went out before ours. I was fiending for a great burger last night. Five Guys is my favorite local burger joint, but it was just past their closing time when I pulled up. 10:01PM, but really hungry I tried the door. It was locked. Just as I turned to walk, Charlie-Brown-style, back to my car, I heard the door open and a young man beckoned me to come in. He and his fellow employees not only let me in anyway, they were exceedingly polite and friendly. They basically reset their whole closing procedure to make two burgers, and I was taken aback that this was happening in Atlanta--normally I rave about even mediocre service in other cities because it's generally so bad in ATL. I have ordered from this location several times. And for the most part, the food is usually very good and, I have been a satisfied customer. However, the past (3-5) times that I have ordered from this location the Uber Eats delivery people have had to wait 30-60min for the order to be made. I wouldn't wait that long in-person for a couple of burgers, and I feel bad that the individuals who are actually delivering the food, and are literally paid by the delivery, are being made to wait that long. OMG! So I ran here last night to grab a quick bite to eat and I was appalled by what I witnessed. As a customer approached the counter to pick up his food an employee asked him if he wanted to leave a tip. How rude! If he wanted to leave a tip he would have. It's unprofessional for employees to ask for money. But what disgusted me most of all was what I saw next. This same employee gave the wrong food order to another customer. The customer walked out with the food, took it to his car and unwrapped the burgers in his car realizing it was not what he ordered. When he brought the food back to the counter they gave him his correct order and THIS SAME WORKER GAVE THE FOOD HE BROUGHT BACK IN TO THE CUSTOMER WHO ORDERED IT WITHOUT REMAKING THE FOOD. HOW DISGUSTING! When food leaves the establishment you don't know what could have possibly happened to it. The customer could of eaten some of it, rubbed his hands on it, sneezed or coughed on it or done god knows what. When I was a kid, I used to spend a good portion of the summer at my grandparents' house in east Macon. In the cul-de-sac where they lived, was one of the neighborhood's many 'candy ladies', except with a couple of distinct differences. My grandparents' neighbor (let's call him, Mr. P) was not a lady, and - in addition to candy - he also sold home-cooked hamburgers. Unlike stuck-up little Eddie Murphy who shunned the 'houseburger', my playmates and I knew that Mickey D's didn't have nothing on Mr. P. Most times we'd already squandered our little-kid per diem on all kinds of junk, so we'd often have to just sit on the porch and fill ourselves with the smell of pan-fried beef emanating from the kitchen across the street. But occasionally, if a couple of us were able to scrape up a dollar around the time Mr. P started cooking - we felt like we'd won the lottery. Mr. P's burgers were the best of the basic: you could get cheese or no-cheese, and he served each one wrapped in wax paper and stuffed in a small paper bag with plain white napkins. Simple, satisfying, and cheap. Nowadays, the burger, like most simple classics, is being upgraded and grandiosed in some of the most ridiculous ways: foie gras, truffles, Wagyu beef and such, with prices ranging from $14 to over $100. Rubbish. For me, the KISS (a.k.a., Keep it simple, stupid) method still reigns supreme when it comes to a burger. And the one chain (at least here in the A) that seems to agree with me is Five Guys. Their menu is a prime example of their adherence to simplicity: you can get a hamburger, cheeseburger, bacon burger or bacon cheeseburger in either 'little' (quarter-pound) or regular size. The fries come in regular or large, with optional Cajun seasoning. The restaurant itself has the kitschy retro charm of The Varsity, without the unwanted gastrointestinal side effects. And the food is served almost exactly like Mr. P's. The hand-pressed burgers come wrapped in a piece of foil and the fresh cut fries are over-stuffed into a small Styrofoam cup. Both are tossed into a brown paper bag along with plain white napkins, which - as the tiny grease spots on the bag indicate - you'll definitely need. And if you must elevate your burger to elegant status, you can choose from as many additional toppings as you want, including some of my kitchen-burger favorites: fried onions, sautéed mushrooms, and A1 steak sauce.
