I'm a Five Guys fan. I love their food. This experience was incredibly surprising. I write this review disappointed and upset that I have to. My friends and I grabbed burgers, fries, and drinks in the evening after nine. We were not greeted when we entered. They were not busy. Only two other people were currently customers eating. My first friend has a gluten allergy. She told the gentleman at the register about her allergy. He was incredibly rude. He told her well I'm glad you told me about your allergy, because I didn't hear you the first time. When she repeated it to him at the end. She only wanted to make sure it was on the order clearly. He mocked her with his tone and attitude it was unacceptable. I placed my order and listed out my toppings for my burger. He informed me that was "All the Way" minus pickles and mayo. I told him I wanted pickles but no mayo. He was not thrilled and added the pickles. He then told me for next time not to list out everything. I completed the rest of my order. My friend and I did not tip. We felt his customer service was incredibly lacking. He then announced that people who do not tip get their food last. We had another friend with us she was last to place her order. She then felt pressured into tipping. She placed her order and tipped. While our food was being made the staff in the back was talking about how people who do not tip get their food last on repeat. It was like it was a joke to them. I was going to wait for my food. The service and treatment were ridiculous. We got our food. I actually got mine first, my friend whom ordered last second, then my friend with the gluten allergy hers took the longest to come out. She saw her food up on the back counter. They were just waiting longer to give it to her. The entire experience was unexpected and unpleasant. read more

The restaurant was empty other than two young girls eating. I was with two friends. I ordered first because I have a food allergy. We were not greeted. No warm welcome like at Moe's. Toward the end of ordering, I couldn't remember if I had already told the cashier, it was for an allergy, So I informed him it was for an allergy. His entire demeanor changed. He starts to angrily tap the screen and tells me that I should have informed him at the beginning of the order and that he couldn't promise it would be right. The body language and the tone of his voice changes toward me at this point on and he became very rude. At this point the line behind our little group has gotten longer so I'm just trying to hurry up. I did not tip for my food because of the customer service and tipping is an option. As soon as my receipt prints up and the cashier see my receipt he becomes loud and obnoxious. He turns around and announces to his team that we have a NON-TIPPER. I get dirty looks from the two staff in the kitchen, and they start repeating loudly "non tippers get their food last" "non tippers must wait" It's late and I really don't want to fight. I've had a long day, and I just want food. I stay at the counter to watch them make my food which is a habit because I have a food allergy. I take my eyes off them for 5 minutes because I noticed that one of my friend's look upset. I step over to check on her and she looks upset because she really wanted an Oreo milkshake, and I know she because she had been talking about it for HOURS and apparently the machine wasn't working so she would just get a coke. This is when the cashier makes this grand and loudly announcement that if she tips, he could make it work for her. So, she is forced into tipping to get a milkshake. I step back over to the counter to watch for my food, but it looks like they are already done? They are putting the bowl into the brown bag on the side. My friends get a table, and I stand to the side to wait for my food. A few minutes go by my food is still sitting on the side. The staff have continued to make announcements to the room about no tippers not being welcome. I almost feel like they are making a game of it. My friends have all gotten their food and I'm still standing there. The cashier is flat out ignoring me. I wave for his attention and point to the bag of food. He looks directly at the bag and tells me that my food isn't ready. He then makes this grand show almost like we were in a drama like he is finally seeing my food. Claiming that they are waiting on fries. I wait a few more seconds, I'm losing my patience and ask how much longer. He then gives me a scoop of the fries and hands over the bag. My friends have long since finished their food. I'm also upset. I open the bag to check on my food. The fries aren't fresh or hot, my burger in a bowl isn't warm or greasy. My paddies are lukewarm and since I didn't watch them make my food and they have been harassing me. I am too scared to even eat my food. I threw the food out. I can't risk it with an allergy, and I don't feel like making a hospital visit. As we are leaving the cashier makes a point to come over and ask how our food was? Ha! I've been to all the Five Guys in town and downtown in the past and I've never been treated this disrespectful over something so simple. This is completely unacceptable and uncalled for, and I feel like I was singled out and targeted. read more

Totally messed up my order... I worked at 5 guys for over 6 years so I know there should be a manager or fry person QAing the order before it gets wrapped. This crew was clearly inept, no communication, as the rush started to hit. Didn't get cheese or hot sauce or mayo, but did get grilled onions, which I hate, neat. Fires were also suppose to be Cajun but were clearly not, waste of time and money. I'd avoid this location at all cost. I regret dropping a tip based on my expectation rather than the delivered service. Also didn't get a receipt after ordering , so had to go back and forth with the fry guy before getting my wrong order (the other was right on the recipet and my wife's order was correct), I'd be okay if I paid $15 for my food but paying overly inflated prices I at least expect a good customer experience, which fell criminally short here. read more

Beautiful building in a nice area, but that's where the positive review ends. The food is over priced, the workers aren't very friendly, and the service is extremely slow. It took nearly 25 minutes after we ordered to get our food! When it arrived, my mother had ordered a hamburger without a bun, it cost $7.50, and it was literally just a burger patty in a bowl. No condiments, no toppings, nothing but a plain burger patty. I ordered a cheeseburger with no bun for $11.79 and it atleast had grilled onion and lettuce with it, it was good, but expensive for what I received. The fries we ordered to share were delicious! I was not really impressed. It was my first time eating at Five guys & since most people rave about the burgers I was really looking forward to it. The peanuts to nosh on while waiting for your food was cool & seemed nostalgic. We had a group of 9 but the food didn't actually take all too long to prepare which was nice. The fries were ok, but nothing swoon worthy. I ordered a single patty cheeseburger burger with some fixing. They offer a lot of add on options so you can customize your burger to your liking, which is really good. But idk the cheese wasn't melted, the bacon was cold & it although the burger was just cooked it wasn't hot. The soda fountain was one of the new ones where you can customize your drinks & offered lots of options. So some good things, some not so great. If I was starving I might go back, but I will look for somewhere else to spend my money next time. read more

The positives - the food was overall fine and it's open late. However, the workers were really dismissive and rude, didn't even look at us while taking our order. The place just felt dirty. When I asked for the code for the locked bathroom, they acted as if it was an inconvenience and said it was on the top of the receipt as if I should have figured it out on my own. I'm not a burger guy but, if you want one, Five Guys is the only place to turn to. The reality is that I do sometimes crave a burger. When you want it, you want it and you can't go wrong here. Many years ago I worked at a weekly county newspaper. I was once tasked with eating every burger in the area. Mostly horrendous stuff - sometimes even textured beef protein. Ugh! I found one - yes, only one - that had real hand-packed beef. I was very impressed! Fast forward 30 years. Lunch break, Navy Yard Metro stop in DC. Not many food places there but Five Guys took a spot. Damn - hours of meetings and much BS. But then there was lunch - oh man, lunch! And what better than Five Guys? Leave the meetings, stand in line, eat peanuts from the shell and just drop the shells. Bliss. Last night was my first in years. It was delivery so I missed the peanuts. But the bliss remained. Hand packed fresh beef. Add anything you want - no additional (I highly recommend jalepeno - spicy but not overpowering). I haven't yet figured out how to handle a burger of this size (someone needs to publish a manual). But I thoroughly enjoyed it with the fork and knife method. Bravo Five Guys! read more

This restaurant is in the historic district amongst the Spanish moss and live oaks downtown near the river. I came in after lunch rush and there were hardly any diners, but the restaurant was not clean. The tables needed bussing and wiping. All the diners in the restaurant were actually in the process of waiting for their food when I walked in. And no one was happy. The lady who took my order was not friendly, and I too had to wait for my food. It took 30 minutes for them to prepare and serve me a small hamburger and an order of fries! This is a rather large spacious Five Guys with a prime location right on West Bay in the Historic District. I stopped in and ordered a cheeseburger which I had with their free toppings of mayo, lettuce, tomato, ketchup and mustard along with a coke and order of Cajun fries. The service was good, speedy and pleasant, and the burger also good but nothing I'd call exceptionally good or with anything distinctive about it. The fries, however, were exceptionally good not only with distinctively fresh taste but with a good Cajun spice flavor as well. For a fast food burger place, I'd say certainly better than a McDonald's but not on par with Burger King except for the fries. read more

Besides the unnerving feeling of standing in a danger zone as two SWAT guards stood watch, this place is bad. The "little fries" were limp potato noodles lacking any browning. It took 5 guys to build my "little cheese burger" that was then over cooked. As I bit into the rubber pellets of my flavorless, dry beef patty I contemplated the quality of said beef I was consuming. This didn't seem to be the byproduct of grass-fed, non-gmo, non-antibiotic happy free range cows, but of a very depressed miserable creature who led a very depressed miserable existence. My family of 4 visited the 5 guys downtown and stood in line for one hour while we watched as 3 people attempted to fill the orders of patrons. The manager Calvin was standing around seemingly not knowing how to handle the crowd. Once we finally got to the counter to order there were 3 large baskets of frozen fries just sitting in the basket waiting to be dropped. When we ordered fries the manager refused to give them to us saying he was "saving them for online orders". Clearly upset after waiting that long I asked him why would he not put a sign on the door or make an announcement before having people wait in line for an hour. The manager simply yelled at me "your not getting those fries"!
