The burgers are good, it's great to be able to customize them however you want. Can't go wrong with the cajun fries either, and they always give you so many fries. The guy working behind the counter could be tad more friendly, especially around the holidays, but then again maybe they were just having a bad day. Don't go in there if you have a peanut allergy, but I gotta say the free peanuts is always a nice touch. Their prices have gone up quite a bit I would say, but then again so has every other place. The service has changed some. There were a quite a few employees behind the counter this day, a lot of dirty tables. Got the burger bowl this past weekend and was WAY underwhelmed. Salt and pepper go a long way guys!! It's unfortunate that they don't use it. Lots of hype around five guys! It is an average unseasoned burger with a large number of options for toppings. However, I'm one of those who prefer a burger from somewhere else. It's awesome to see them make everything right in front of you and being able to customize it to your liking! They have more than just burgers. They also have dog options and now a burger bowl (obvi without the bunz). But it's really all about the burger here! The fries are pretty good but very greasy! I'm not a fan of the peanut oil but I'll still eat em. And get it to go and they fill the cup and top your bag off too! And while you're waiting, snack on some peanuts! My buddy and I took a quick bus ride from Downtown Minneapolis to Uptown to a Five Guys. I have never been to one of these, so I did a little research. It looked like a little cheeseburger with everything and relish and jalapenos and hot sauce would be my pick of choice. We entered the establishment and there were sacks of French fries ready to be dropped into the boiling grease. It made an aisle effect for when you walked up the counter. The menu board was huge, but the prices were reasonable. The man behind the counter was super nice and took the order perfectly. I sat down with my two cohorts. My buddy ordered a large fries for all three of us. They basically fill a large pop cup with the fries and then throw a bunch more on top of them in a paper bag to make a sack of fries. They were pretty good fries, a little soggy, but nicely salted. I got my soda from one of the new Coke machines that have multiple options, I picked Coke Zero and then orange for my flavoring. Pretty sweet! My order was ready in about 5 minutes. For a "Little" cheeseburger, it was pretty huge! The American cheese was dripping perfectly off the meat patty ("Perfectly off the Meat Patty" would make a good band name) The burger was super juicy with the toppings piled up high. Every bite was pretty messy though, I am glad my buddy got about 20 napkins for the table. The hot sauce was just hot enough and the jalapenos were a nice touch of heat. Lots of good conversation and it was back on the bus. I only have about 5 or 6 burgers a year, so I like to make them count. This one more than counted on the awesome end. Solid 4 stars! read more

The particular location seems to have little to no management and somehow it's absolute chaos in there even when we were the only customers. First off- it's filthy dirty from the tables, chairs and floors it's so gross. We found a table that was only 1/2 covered in filth so we made it work. The food quality is higher than competitors but service is s-l-o-w which again, we were the only people in there when we arrived and our burgers took 20 mins and they forgot all of our shakes. The whole schtick with Five Guys is that they add toppings to order. You pick the toppings, they put it on the burger. Simple. Well, this Five Guys can't seem to cope with that. I ordered last week, and they put six (yes, SIX) toppings on it that I didn't ask for. Annoying. But I was willing to let it go. It was later in the evening, and mistakes happen, right? I've had Five Guys a few times over the years, and I've never come away with a strong opinion either way. It's just a place with burgers and fries and a couple other things. I suspect some people like the array of toppings and condiments and stuff you can add to your burger at no charge, but my taste in burgers generally directs me toward not much of that stuff. So I usually experience their burgers in a very stripped-down state. And it's all just unremarkable. Five guys is a great burger place to go to when you want to satisfy that greasy burger craving. This spot in particular can be busy. But the food and service is always good. I ended up ordering online and picking up around 7pm on a week night. My food was fresh and ready to go when I got there. I highly recommend their Cajun fries. They are my favorite! Even though I don't have a good tolerance for spicy things I still love them. They aren't that spicy either, just have a little kick to them. This location is a bit of a gem. They are always consistent when I stop in and while parking may look to be a pain everytime I stop in, it is easy to get a spot. They do stay constantly busy at this location and their staff seems to have a bit higher of a turnover. That being said, they are always very generous. Chose the Spot because I really dislike getting takeout from ordinary sit down restaurants during the time of Covid. This place is very good at Covid protocols they have barriers between you and the cashier, all employees are wearing gloves and masks, they have hand sanitizer available if you so choose to use, and while I was there were regularly spraying and wiping down tables with disinfectant. Staff was very friendly professional and courteous from ordering to handing the food off, I would say great customer service from a "fast food "restaurant. Due to their popularity wait time can be a little long that being said the staff informs you on this upon ordering. Only reason I can't give it five stars is because while you are waiting people seem to be gathering closer than 6 feet apart and staff is not suggesting people to spread out more, I know this is not their job but just wanted to give others a heads up in case they would like to order and eat from here. read more

Very good burgers and fries. They also serve very good hot dogs and other sandwiches. Fries are moderate in size (i.e. not skinny like McDonald's but also not real fat) and come in regular and slightly spicy (Cajun). The "small" serving is ample for one person and enough for 2 light eaters. Similarly the one patty "regular" burger is plenty big. There is a couple in their 70's which I may be profiling but I certainly don't think they appreciate the music based on there faces. Food? Yep, it's good like most Five Guys. I came here for many reasons tonight, the first being that I was hungry, and I didn't want to spend more than $12 on my food. And I suppose I've been craving a burger all week and haven't tried this place up until tonight! I ordered a Bacon Cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, onion, grilled mushroom, jalapenos, and the usual ketchup, mustard, and mayo. I don't know if he heard me wrong, or if I made some sort of wondrous mistake in how I worded it, but I got all of that PLUS an additional beef patty. Either way, I got home and sank into that burger like I hadn't eaten a meal in weeks. With grease dripping from my fingers, mayo and ketchup all over my face... There was this horrible sensation for a moment that this could very well be my last meal, that this could be the one to cause my heart to stop and me to get gout. But I survived it and am now a better person for it. The fries were quite honestly very "meh" as far as I was concerned. But that burger was nothing less than angelic. As a matter of fact, if I knew it was the end of the world, this may very well be my last meal. Sounds like I'm going a little overboard for a quick stop burger joint right? But in all honesty, in this price range, you more than likely won't find another burger quite like this! Im a fan of free things.. so when Five Guys didnt charge me to add all of the things that make a good burger a god burger.. I was initially impressed. Also being Gluten Free, I usually dont eat burgers because it ends up being a total rip off. But Five Guys takes care of the GF people out there by putting your burger toppings on the bottom of it, with lettuce and onions (if you want em) off to the side. Its like a burger salad, and frankly, its DELICIOUS. I really like that they tell you where the potatoes are from that are being used to make the fries that day too. About 85% of the time we go here, it's awesome. Many of the folks who work here, particularly all the female employees I've seen as well as the gentleman with the long brown hair and tattoos, are super friendly. Generally everyone who works there seems happy to be working there, which is pretty rare for a fast food place, and having worked in the service industry for many years I really appreciate a workplace which treats its employees well. This is also by far my favorite burger out of the many choices available in the Cities, save for maybe Burger Jones, which is an entirely different kind of restaurant. However, occasionally they're really off their game. Sometimes when they get busy it seems their method of fulfilling orders gets messed up and when that happens, things go down the shitter really fast. I've waited 20+ minutes for my food, and twice now the order has been completely screwed up. The first time I received two of the exact same sandwich (not what I ordered) and tonight we got home to realize one of our burgers was completely missing. It is certainly not bad by any means, its just that I have come to the conclusion that these chain stores are simply solidly average. A change of pace from the standard burger fast food joints, though not as kid friendly as others. Free peanuts are neat, but that is a novelty that wears off fast. Five Guys is my go-to spot for a burger and this location is solid. Quick service, fresh food, nice employees. Parking situation isn't great since it's right off Hennepin and the lot is small, but that's my only complaint. I recently discovered you can order online and skip the line when you arrive. I like that they still wait for you to get there to cook your food, so your food's not cold or soggy when you arrive. read more

This was my first experience to dine at a Five Guys. I found that it was clean, GREAT customer service and the music was a bit loud but you could still have a conversation. My cashier was very experienced and told me exactly what to expect. My burger was prepared exactly the way I ordered it and the fries were more than what I expected. I will say that it can be a little spendy since you order everything separately but you do get your money's worth. I call it "Old Fashioned Flavor!" I accidentally left my phone at this location. I came back the next day and asked the staff if they had my phone in their office. Both didn't know about the situation, but I explained to them that while waiting for my order, I left my iPhone on one of the tables. One employee happened to see it, but I found it through the Find my iPhone app. The phone was in the employee safe, and I thanked the staff for their help. The food was great. The burger patties are slightly underseasoned, but that's because you can put an unlimited amount of toppings on them for free. The fries were cold, but I reheated them in the microwave and they had a good texture. I ordered the Cajun Style with Cajun spices. It was a bit too strong, so the next time I eat at Five Guys, I'll order the regular fries. The sign said that the Dinkytown location was open until 3 a.m. on Saturday, but when I went to see if the restaurant staff found my phone, the door was locked and the room was dark. That was the only drawback. Five Guys is great! Five Guys rookies beware: Order the little fries. They pack a lot of fries into a little cup and the classic paper bag, too. When I say snack, I mean I love to come in for their large Cajun fries and a drink! Apparently I started coming in "too much" for the staffs liking, and they stopped giving me as many fries as they did when I first started coming. After watching this place being built after my beloved Baja Sol moved to a new location, I was excited to try it. In short, this felt like a Jimmy Johns location but with burgers. It was loud with rock music, tables needed to be wiped down after each patron left, and your order is yelled out when it's ready. The cheeseburger comes with 2 patties, while the "little cheeseburger" has only one. I'm more of a "cheeseburger" kinda girl, plus some grilled onions, jalapenos, and ketchup. Add in a beer from the liquor store down the block, and you've got yourself quite the gourmet meal! Plus, the cajun fries are delicious and a "small" would probably feed 3-4 people, no joke. The bun is looks like least expensive store brand you can buy at any grocery store, but this may not bother you. You can get all the toppings you want for the same price as getting no toppings. Definitely not one of the better five guys I've been to but not horrible except the online ordering. It's apparently very confusing to this restaurant. They usually don't start making the order until I arrive at the time I'm supposed to pick it up. Then they make walk in customers orders before my online order. Simply put, they don't prioritize the online orders ahead of walk in customers and that's simply not how it works. Man, I love Five Guys! I've never had a disappointing visit to this location and I've been here dozens of times. It seems that people either love this place or hate it. I do agree that it stinks that they don't have better veggie options (my SO is a vegetarian, so it would be cool if they sold an actual veggie burger), but I only ever get a burger here, so I can't really complain. Highly recommend getting a small burger with small fries if you're eating solo. Anything else is just way to much. I always get the small bacon cheese burger with BBQ, fried onions, and ketchup. The greatest thing about this place is the service. Hands down the most friendly staff for a fast food place. They are always very nice and friendly, and while I've never needed assistance beyond placing my order, they are very quick to resolve any problems from costumers from what I've witnessed. I've also never had my order come up wrong, which is also something I can't say for most places. Definitely give this place a try if you haven't! Great burgers and great service! read more
