One of my friends from college is from the Baltimore, Md area and she used to always talk about goin to Five Guys because they have such great burgers. She always asked too if we had one up here. I finally went to the one at Patriot Place (not knowing one was there). My boyfriend and I were doing some last minute shopping and I said to him, "look, there's a Five Guys. Rose is telling me how good they are lets try it". He obliged and instead of red Robin, we ended up at Five Guys, Great Burgers. Seasoned perfectly. Assorted Toppings. French fries were great too! This is the burger that made me break my diet... Well I have been on a new calorie restricted diet/ food plan/ training since the beginning of the year (down 26 pounds since christmas!) Of course, this greatly hurts the foodie in me, since i like eating. i have had to cut backhand make changes where needed. BUT, alas, I was down at patriot place, and HAD to stop at Five Guys. Well, as usual my bacon cheeseburger was just right and the fries were perfect. However, one small OR large issue came up. My vegetarian son ordered the grilled veggie sandwich. When he opened the wrapping he saw some of my bacon. Being all cooked on the same grill you can see how this would happen with an untrained chef. There's a reason he ordered veggies and not meat. What I really like about Five Guys Burgers and Fries is that 90% of their menu is contained in the name of the place. Burgers and fries is what they do, and in a day and age when restaurants try to be all things to everyone, this is most welcome. Located within the main concourse of Foxboro's Patriot Place, Five Guys is a straight forward burger joint. Order at the register, receive your empty cup, step to your right and wait for your number to be called while stocking up on free peanuts, condiments, napkins (you'll need em), and sampling the vast array of fountain drinks (Coke products). Everything is served "to go" in brown paper bags (to show the grease stains better) and tinfoil wrapped burgers. Tables are available, but chances are you'll have to clean it off before sitting down, and bus it yourself when you leave. They don't offer any "combo meals" so you order a la carte, and a burger, fries and beverage are going to run you about $10.00. "But, but I can get a combo meal at BK or Mickey D's for $6.50!" If you thought that when I said $10.00 then please stop reading, go directly to your local drive thru and order the same bland "crappy meal" that you've been eating for years. Burgers first. Hand formed patties of beefy goodness, cooked well-done (no haggling here), but juicy despite that. Two quarter pound patties in the regular burger, one in the "little" burgers. It's burger, cheeseburger or bacon burger to start. Beyond that toppings are free, including various grilled veggies. I went with the cheeseburger with mayo, ketchup, onions and jalapenos. Despite the jalapenos being an almost comical shade of bright green, it was THE finest burger I've ever had. Tasty, greasy and messy. Aren't you glad I recommended the napkins earlier? The fries were also well done, literally and figuratively. Hand cut and fried in peanut oil, they were crisp and delicious. A regular order is enough for two (or one hungry Joe), and there were as many loose in the bottom of the bag as there were in the styrofoam cup they were served in. Take advantage of the malt vinegar in the condiment area for a British accent to your French fries. Also take note of the chalkboard on the wall with the location that today's potatoes started their journey from earth to heaven (thanks Shelley, Idaho!). For a few months now, the name "Five Guys" has been buzzing around the Boston burbs with something akin to a Bigfoot sighting. "Have you been to Five Guys?" "Oh, gotta try Five Guys!" "Bah! This place has nothing on Five Guys." You get the picture. Well, being in Patriot Place, which by the way rocks, and needing food badly and fast, we saw the sign and tried it. Like everything in Patriot Place, Five Guys is open, new and clean. The menu is limited which is fine. You do something well enough, don't be adding McRibs. There are burgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, and for the carnivorously challenged, grilled cheese sandwiches. My son and I ordered cheeseburgers and a large fries. The cheeseburgers were very good. I think the Five Guys appeal, and I'm on board with it, is taking what is in effect a greasy-spoon, late-night, soak up the ten rounds, diner burger, and cleaning it up. The result more than works. The cheeseburgers are, as others have noted, juicy, cheese smothered handfuls of Lipitor jonesing delight. They are in reality tightly stacked double burgers, cooked fresh on a flat grill, a la Spongebob, and set on a fresh sesame bun ("Two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuc... um, sorry). The fries were good, crispy and sized somewhere between McDonalds and steak fries. They were a light brown, which meant the oil was on its last legs, but they tasted fine. The sodas have unlimited refills, and Five Guys offered free peanuts in the shell (sorry allergy people, back to the bubble), which my son was delighted to find he liked. We didn't try the "Cajun" fries. In my opinion, if the fries are made well enough, all you need is salt, and maybe catsup, for those so inclined. Overall, a very good burger, well worth a stop. But if you want the authentic "diner, drive-ins, and dives" burger experience, there's this little place in Quincy called "Grumpy White's, and they... oh, well that's another review. When you are really hungry and in the mood for a burger this is the place. Very quick and tasty meal. The layout is nice where you can sit and eat or take it to go. Only problem I had with this location was that it was a bit messy, the floors were covered with peanut shells (which they give out for free) and some tables were still messy after people had finished. Everything I want in a burger... even if it did fall apart seconds after my first bite. The fries were okay... not awful or anything but kind of soggy and unmemorable. Yay for having Sprite Zero in the fountain machine... that's a rarity! They were busy, but not swamped and I was a little turned off that the table we sat at had some crud on it. Definitely a step above your typical McDonald's/Burger King/Wendy's fast food burger. Fries are good -- and bountiful. It's our go-to before a soccer match, especially given the other options at Patriot Place. There's quite a bit of seating, but it's at a premium on game days. We typically take our to go and go eat on a bench outside. Pro tip: Skip the line by ordering online. Terrible. I hate to say it but i had a terrible experience at this location. They got all our orders wrong, the spicy Cajun fries we ordered tasted the same as the regular fried we ordered. They didn't listen to any specifications on our meals, instead sent them out all the same. We spent a considerable amount at this restaurant with the group we were with, but never again. You are at a place that has BURGERS AND FRIES in its title; that is what they focus on and that is what makes them the best. Like other fast food joints, the burgers are greasy but - unlike those other places, they are fresh, handmade patties. No gray gunk. Their fries - regular and Cajun varieties - are hand cut and come in huge portions! You could split a regular size with someone and have more than enough. The large easily fills up the brown-paper bag it is placed in. Really, how can you write a bad review for Five Guys? The burger tasted like fresh-off-the-grill, real beef. I would caution against the cheeseburger, unless you like that bright-orange Kraft "cheese-food" taste, but the grilled onions/mushrooms/mayonaisse combo is divine. Good, but it will kill ya. I've had better burgers. But these were pretty darned good. We went here the other day - FREEZING outside. When your number is called, go grab your grub. Burgers are smooshed into these foil wraps. Fries are nice and fresh and they sure give you a lot but WOW easy on the salt fellas! Burgers were good but - not as good as Fudruckers or In N Out. In N Out is my favorite of all time so - this place doesn't really come close. As far as the chain goes, generally good food. The Foxboro seems like a typical restaurant for their chain, but it seems almost fake, like because of the location next to the stadium, it doesn't go the full extra mile that they normally do. Before I start I would like to say that when I discuss, argue, debate, praise, or give any burger place my personal critique I have to put the establishment into one of two categories. The first I call temperature burgers, this is where you choose how it cooked. The second is non-temperature, and as I am sure you figured out this is when you don't have a say in how the meat is cooked. The food was as advertised, so this low review is not in regards to taste. However, this location has a complete failure in customer service. We placed our order online. Paid online with credit card as required. When we got in the order was not at pick-up counter as written in the confirmation email. The person who got our order was charged AGAIN as they claimed to have no online orders. As a result our order was not finished a full 30 minutes after being placed. This is fairly suspect considering the top of the cash receipt said online order and had our contact info & items correctly listed. On top of that, our order was messed up and we were gipped of fries. We then had to deal with uniformed employees via the phone who insisted we come in again or call the 1 800 number. Since we arrived home missing food and generally bummed we decided to call the 1 800. Their service rep listened to the issue and said that someone would call us within the next 3 business day to resolve this matter.... Seriously? After a long day of traveling and shopping we just wanted to sit in bed so ordered uber eats for this location. Both cheeseburgers were incorrect. I ordered a lettuce wrap instead of a bun because I am gluten free. It came with a bun and without any of the toppings ordered. My friend ordered a cheeseburger and none of her toppings were present. I work at the stadium so this is a go to for lunch before work. The burgers are always fresh and cooked to order. The burgers are always juicy and the fries are awesome (though greasy). There are tons of toppings to choose from. There are boxes of peanuts along the wall so you can snack while you wait.
