When I asked what time they actually open, I was told "between 10:30 and 11." I found that frustrating because if you advertise a 10:30 opening time, I would expect the doors to be open at 10:30. We ordered quite a bit of food between the three of us. My coworker ordered the crispy shrimp she had gotten many times before, but what she received appeared to be grilled shrimp instead. Since she hadn't been there in over a year, she wasn't sure if they had changed the recipe or preparation, so she didn't make an issue of it. There were also some service issues. At one point, my order was skipped and they took the person after me, apparently because they assumed one of my coworker's bowls was for me. It was an honest mistake, and I simply let them know I still needed to order. The employee who took my order wasn't particularly friendly and seemed somewhat annoyed, although he did make my bowl correctly and was helpful in explaining that the empanada would take about 10 minutes because it was made fresh. I also asked for an additional portion of meat on the side because the meat portion in my bowl wasn't very large, and that was accommodated without an issue. However, when I went to pay, I noticed I had been charged for steak instead of birria, and I was also charged for guacamole even though I did not receive guacamole. There was also a sign at the counter offering free chips and queso or chips and guac in exchange for leaving a Google or Instagram review. I said I would leave one, and they gave me the chips and queso. However, when I went onto Google afterward, I noticed that some highly rated reviews had apparently been removed for suspicious activity. Given that the restaurant is actively offering free food in exchange for reviews, I can understand why that might raise concerns with Google. I also tried to figure out how to leave a review on Instagram but couldn't find a way to do it. On a positive note, some of the staff were very friendly, my other coworker's order was made correctly, and the food itself was good. I didn't think it was bad at all, but it also wasn't anything that made me think, "Wow, this is amazing." Based solely on the food, I would probably give it around 3.5 stars.
