Popped in for a quick bite of a burger and some peanuts. The team there was welcoming, the burger delicious, and there was no shortage of peanuts. Saw a social media post where a guy was raving about what he called a 'grilled cheese hamburger', and I stopped here to try one. When I ordered a 'grilled cheese hamburger' the guy says 'WE DON'T DO THINGS LIKE CALIFORNIA'. WTF?! Confused, I try again and he repeats 'WE DON'T DO THINGS LIKE CALIFORNIA'. He then asks, 'do you want a grilled cheese with a burger patty?' I say 'yes, a grilled cheese hamburger.' Again, he says 'WE DON'T DO THINGS LIKE CALIFORNIA'. I ask 'If you wanted to, can you do it like California does?' He says 'I DON'T KNOW HOW THEY DO IT IN CALIFORNIA.' Anyway, eventually I order a grilled cheese with a hamburger patty, grilled onions, and fries. He then repeats the order 'grilled cheese with an extra hamburger patty'! Then we have a conversation about how I want a single burger patty, not an 'extra patty' to make sure he doesn't think I want two patties. The guy then salted the living shit out of my fries. Note that they don't have a kids menu, however it was simple to get a hotdog or hamburger a drink and if you don't know, an order of fries always has a lot of extra fries dumped on the bag so always more than enough fries. Plan your order carefully, as you get exactly what you have ordered! -mostly I see my family ordering too much as they expect the food to "dissolve" and leave them hungry. Not so with Five Guys! Even though they shrunk the size of the small fries... the cup is still overloaded and we are satisfied. I ask for my burger to be well-done.., although all burgers are cooked well-done already. Do not recommend unless you enjoy getting a stomach virus. The sanitation was way off.

If you have a wheat or gluten allergy, don't eat in Flagstaff, AZ. They do not follow safe food handling procedures for allergies. The person who does their fry station also handles wrapping up the burgers. They go from touching burger buns (wheat/gluten) with their gloved hands and without changing gloves, go to the uncooked fries and scoop them up and stick them in the baskets and fries them. Cross-contacting all the fries and the fryer oil with wheat and gluten. The manager on duty proceeded to state this how they always do their fries. Insisting (incorrectly) the fry oil at 350 degrees kills the allergens. Heat does does nothing to kill allergen proteins. The only way to remove allergy proteins are single use gloves, handwashing, and cleaning with soap and water. Don't risk your health or your life eating here if you have food allergies and don't buy the hype on their website, they have zero clue about avoiding cross-contact. read more

I find no difference between this FG and other FG, so you're good if you like it! Since FG spread across the country from DC around 15 years ago, I've lived in Indiana, New Mexico, Utah, and Arizona, and have eaten at one in each state except Utah. This review takes them all into account: What they do well: the fries. They're always just a little overdone, which I as an All-American boy just loves. They never, ever skimp on them either. The process of selecting toppings is still unique to them, and ingenious. The peanuts are like the red&white tile motif - FG wouldn't be the same without them, and I've always loved their brand. What they don't do well: the price.......followed closely by the burger itself. Sorry not sorry. The patties are often dry, the buns not heated, and the cooked veggies are usually underdone for my taste. Put all together, it tastes just like a backyard burger, which I know I don't pay that much for shopping at Kroger stores. Having lived in Phoenix, the capital of chain restaurants, I've had a chance to sample burger joints from across the country. Five Guys is not on my shortlist of favorites. read more

Five Guys used to be my In-N-Out substitute when I lived on the East Coast. Now that I'm back in California, I have little use for it, but Matt B. and I did get a quick lunch at the Five Guys in Flagstaff on our way out to Santa Fe. It was a satisfying meal. This Five Guys was pretty big and pretty busy, but the service was fast and friendly. The cashier who rang me up did say she'd bring my order out to the patio tables, which didn't happen, but otherwise, I have no complaints. There were free peanuts to munch on for people too hungry to wait for their food. I didn't indulge this time, but I like the set-up and have taken advantage of it before. I had an approximation of my usual order, a cheeseburger (defaulted to double) with a whole lot of fixings. I like that Five Guys charges a flat price for most add-ons, and I took full advantage with mushrooms, pickles, green peppers, jalapeños, ketchup, and hot sauce. I actually don't like the peppers at Five Guys, it turns out, as they're more or less raw, but it was a decent burger. I definitely recommend adding mushrooms. The Five Guys burger is not as delicious as the In-N-Out Double Double - there isn't the same immense satisfying flavor to the meat, and the bun falls apart a bit too easily. It's also a whole lot more expensive. That said, solid fast food, and the fries are better by miles. I love the crispy skin-on Five Guys fries - I also love that a small order feeds a family. I don't go to Five Guys very often, and I'm not such a big fan that I crave the burgers. That said, they're definitely tasty, and I like the wide selection of free toppings. The fries are some of the best you'll find in the world of fast food, and they're reason enough to stop by. read more

My wife and I were on a road trip AND we seldom eat at hamburger type restaurants. As we entered Flagstaff, we were hungry! Then we saw the Five Guys and pulled over. We feel that Five Guys is above the "others", so we enjoyed ourselves. I ordered a bacon, cheese burger, my wife ordered the smaller burger BUT the large fries are a must. We had the burgers OUR way, grilled onions, etc. Everything cooked to order which make Five Guys stand out. We arrive around 11:30AM so we missed the rush. I can't remember being so disappointed in a Five Guys experience. The burger was what I expected, however the fries, arguably their signature side were THE ABSOLUTE WORST! I placed my order from the app, which I have done multiple times, and generally they do not put your fries "down" until you tell them you are there. Not here. The order was bagged and the fry cook just put what was in the bin in the box. Some were cold and soggy, others where so hard I didn't dare to bit them. It's been years since I ate at a Five Guys while vacationing in the east. Right when they opened up, things were a mess. You could not find a table and when you did, it was dirty. The fries were way undercooked as well, but now that things newness has tapered off and they've found their comfort zone, things are better. Their cheesburger is a double and HUGE with the endless toppings you can put on it, so I recommend the little cheeseburger which is a single. The works on your burger includes choices like grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, green peppers, bacon, A-1, BBQ sauce, hot sauce and jalepenos to name a few. I still order the fries well done as they seem to come out a little on the undercooked side. They also have peanuts available for you to munch on! I remember this from back east and it's funny, they still announce your arrival...one in the door, two in the door, etc. The burger is tasty and I would give 4 stars if they were not so pricey! $9 for a single cheeseburger, fries and drink is expensive, but I'll be back...just not as often as I would with better prices! read more

This is a supportive review for the staff and location. Was my food exactly as ordered? No, but the staff were extremely apologetic and kind (I didn't ask for an apology). They quickly corrected everything. They worked hard and fast, and it showed they took pride in their work trying to please all the customers. Slide that wrapper. Enjoyed watching each kitchen staff reading each ticket as it worked it's way through production. Someone should fine tune this business as I found myself laughing at this operation. Every item ordered was either delayed, inaccurate, dripping with grease or forgotten. After looking around this place, I noticed 2 things.. 1. Everyone was waiting at pickup (bottleneck). I pity the family trying to eat with 12 people standing around them. 2. Usually a huge fan of Five Guys, however my recent visit to the flagstaff location has left me wondering. I understand new people are still learning but shouldn't be talked down to by other staff. I am upset that they wouldn't put a certain topping on my burger and also wouldn't even provide a side of it but when I asked about it they made rude comments towards the "new girl" saying "she doesn't understand how we operate" would have been nice when they couldn't do the topping to let me know instead of serving me the burger to go completely incorrect! This store really needs to update the hours that they stay open for. Over the past couple years, I've tried to come by multiple times between 8:00-9:30PM (supposed to close at 10) only to find the door locked and employees cleaning up early. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to what time they close on any given night. I tried ti explain the meaning of customer service, and all he did was make excuses and say that he was not ab emotional person. First and last time in this store. I am not a big fan of burgers, and rarely go out to eat them, however I would definitely consider coming here. The decor is ok, its a bit sanitized with red and white themes throughout, which is normal for all of the other Five Guys restaurants I have visited. There are tables throughout the restaurant as well and they are made of reconstituted wood. In all, it looks like a step above a fast food restaurant. As far as the main menu is concerned, they serve burgers and hot dogs, and grilled cheese sandwiches. You can also get a veggie patty if you wish as well. That's all. With any of these, you are also welcome to put as many toppings on them as you want, most are free, but some cost a little extra. I do not eat fried food, nor do I eat a lot of bread, so instead, I opted to just get the burger in a container with my toppings, and eat the peanuts as my side, which of course tasted like peanuts so no surprises there. The service was fast, despite the long wait in line, and the burger came with ample toppings thrown in as well. I got grilled mushrooms and onions and ketchup. I opted to also get a soda because they had a Coke Freestyle machine, and I tend to enjoy using them. I got a Mellow Yello mixed with orange syrup that was pretty good if a little too syrupy. My dining companion got two hot dogs. I tried a piece, and it wasn't bad. It was grilled very well, but I need to review it for next time. So I am sure you are wondering, why the 4 stars instead of 5? Well, I thought the burger was better than normal but not quite on par with some other burger joints I have visited. Its definitely freshly made, and tasty, Also, it was a little expensive as well for the quality. By no means does this mean I do not recommend it, but it could have been a bit better for the price. This restaurant is brand new to the Flagstaff scene, and was jam packed on my first visit. I am glad to see a location so close to NAU. I have been to 5 Guys before, and was pleased with the quality of my fries and Bacon Cheese Dog with grilled onions, and my husband enjoyed his Cajun Fries and Burger. There were still management folks walking around and hashing out improvements, so I have high hopes. We encountered an extremely high noise level. I would not recommend going here just yet, to Combat Vets or folks with hearing aides. (I have both in my family.) The music needs to be turned down, so that the staff does not have to yell so loudly over it, to each other, and to customers. It would also be extremely difficult to navigate a wheelchair or walker through the crowd, and tight isles, however, I am sure that customers and staff would make way for any guests with mobility issues. I hope they install a screen display for completed order numbers, to eliminate the screaming. It seems management was already discussing a better floor plan. I look forward to returning and seeing improvements, since the staff was so friendly and helpful, and the food was indeed scrumptious. read more

This place makes a good burger, and good fries (as long as thick, not too crunchy fries are your thing; I enjoyed them but they weren't my favorite style). The burger was delicious, and the whole meal cost about what I would expect for what I got. It's a made to order carryout burger place, so ~$10 for my meal is what I would expect; more than a fast food chain, less than a sit-down restaurant. The disclaimer I put here, there are at least two alternatives to Five Guys in Flag that are better in my opinion: For a similar wait and maybe slightly higher price, Diablo Burger is a much better, more gourmet burger with better (very thin) fries. For a similar taste and a little lower price, I prefer Freddie's Steakburger. Again, their fries are thinner and better. read more

I was disappointed, truly unimpressed by this place. Upon entering, I was hit by a large waft of heat-filled greasy air; moving past that and the large sacks of potatoes and peanuts, my husband and I were kindly greeted by the staff and I will say customer service was immediately good; the staff is very informative. We ordered our burgers & [cajun] fries and were on our way to waiting. The fries were HUGE & delicious, the burgers were underwhelming with soggy buns. I ordered a small bacon cheese bbq burger; the meat patty was greasy-thin, bacon was burnt, bun had a smudge of bbq sauce and the bun was grease-soaked. My husband's burger fell apart as he tried to eat it...very messy eating, maybe they should serve their fully loaded burgers in a bowl. I loved the fries and my Barq's Rootbeer. If you have a peanut allergy, don't eat here- they use peanut oil to cook and have roasted peanuts available at the door while you wait to order... Recommendation to Five Guys Owners: get a better vent/hood system for the restaurant to vent out all that grease and heat. Originally from VA, I'm pretty partial to Five Guys Burgers and Fries. My favorite thing to get here is a bacon cheese dog with grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, and ketchup. MMM good! I first tried out the Flagstaff 5 Guys yesterday, around 2pm. The place wasn't extremely busy, but there were at least 7 groups sitting down eating. I waited about 4-5 minutes for my BC dog (which I don't mind doing, at least you see it getting made fresh for you!) The fries are good, too. Only thing is that it's hard to eat them all by yourself, so bring a friend! I'm giving it 4 stars because this location seemed really noisy and loud.
