Convenient place for a quick bite with family when shopping at Hacienda Crossings. We were planning to visit Barnes and Noble to reward the girls with a book each for making good progress in their reading prowess this summer, and stopped by for burgers, shakes, and peanuts! We found parking right across the street and walked over. There were quite a few patrons inside but the line was short, so it didn't take long for us to get our orders in. The burgers aren't cheap, but they can be customized -- "everything except mustard, please!" The girls and I got our drinks (they have Coke Freestyle machines for dispensing soda and water) and watched the kitchen staff make our burgers. Our food took just a few minutes to prepare. The girls were hungry, and dug into the food almost as soon as we sat down. I patiently shelled peanuts and watched them enjoy their "messily delicious" burgers, feeling the happy glow of daddy-hood! Ah Five Guys. My very first experience with the guys was in Stafford, VA of all places. I walked in there thinking damn that was a hell of a burger. Back then, I lived in HI and was ignorant of all these chains. Fast forward a bunch of years and I made my way to the mainland. Five Guys galore. Each time, I leave with a smile on my face. Each time, the burger is just as good as the last. And the fries. Oh my. The fries. Burger is straight juicy and tasty. Perfect amount of fillings. Perfectly messy. Bun steamed to perfection, enveloped in a foil wrapper. Genius. I've never done crack. But I surmise Five Guys Cajun fries come pretty damn close to it. Just bite after bite. Ordered a cheeseburger. Specifically asked for burger not to be overcooked. Burger was crispy and hard. Ordered grilled cheese sandwich. Put american cheese on the flat top grill. About 50% of the cheese stuck to the grill. Had them remake and they said they could not melt the cheese unless they put it on the grill. I asked them to put roll on grill and toast until cheese melter. What I got was a totally burned bun. To make matters worse, english was obviously a second language and they could not understand what I was asking. $11 for a burger. Avoid this place. MUCH better elsewhere. Their burger and fries really hit the spot. I don't know if I got lucky or if I was in the right mood, but my meal at Five Guys was super enjoyable. Fries were perfectly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside and came out piping hot from the kitchen. It was also a very generous amount for the small serving that I ordered. The cheeseburger was also hot and fresh. Good tasting cheese. A crisp, vegetable-y bite. Patty not particularly remarkable but it was hot and did its job. My only complaint is that fast food burger and fries for nearly $15 did make me raise an eyebrow, but when the food tastes good you soon forget how much it cost you. We ended up placing our order online using the doordash app. We decided to order the following: - Hamburger: with mayo, lettuce, tomato, onions, ketchup and pickles. The second burger we got did have pickles. I didn't realize that the burger comes with two meat patties. - Bacon cheese burger: with relish, mustard, ketchup, grilled mushrooms, grilled onion, tomato, pickles, lettuce and mayo. -French fries: were freshly made and just need salt for more flavor. We miss 5 Guys now that we are out in Livermore. The grandkids chose it for lunch after Swim Team in Pleasanton. They love the peanuts, and of course burgers and fries. The burgers are better for me in the store...I can take the foil off quickly and keep the bun from getting soggy. The fries are the best in the industry.... really. Love that they list the farm the potatoes are from. Wish they were closer... but will make an effort to come back soon. read more

I used doordash to order for pickup. I got the little cheeseburger and little fries. Both plenty big. I'm glad I didn't get the regular size cheese burger and reg fries. That would have been way too much food for me. The fries are more on the soggy side and the bun was also soggy. It was really messy to eat perhaps because the bun was so soft and they use alot of sauce. The service was ok. A little abrupt. I much prefer in-n-out burger. The cost is a little more pricey. Also the doordash price is a bit higher than if you order at the counter. $7+ for the little cheeseburger and $4+ for the little fries on doordash. The place was not busy on a sunday afternoon. Just two others waiting for their takeout. They have taken their indoor seating away, just a couple of outdoor tables. No one was using the outdoor tables when we were there. read more

Five Guys is a company that started in the D.C. area by Janie & Jerry Murrell, and their 4 sons, oddly a 5th son was added afterwards, hence the "Five Guys" name. This was way back in the 1980's. Since then it has franchised worldwide and almost everywhere across the U.S., Not too shabby for a company with such a grassroots start. Yet, I'm still scratching my head on how the name came to be well before the arrival of son number five... several years later. Get it? Am I over analyzing this? Odd. Five Guys it is! I walk in and it's kind of retro with a killer 1980's soundtrack playing. I think John Cougar Mellencamp when I first walked in, Bangles when I placed my order, Bananarama while I waited. A few people before me and now it's my turn. I'm familiar with the menu so already know I want a double cheeseburger and toppings of my choice. I add a small fries too, knowing that at Five Guys a small fries is like a large. I add a fountain drink, knowing the up-sell of a shake would kill my "Z. Cavaricci" size 29" inch waist, yeah right lol. So my order is placed, but since I'm really closer to a 32" I scoop my complimentary peanuts and pure my cream soda without a care in the world! Duran Duran playing, I sit down, and now I'm Hungry Like a Wolf. My order is called... burger fresh & messy (3.5-stars), fries crispy (solid 4.0-stars), all is good in my world. Run DMC now playing. All in all, I recommend Five Guys with an asterisk (*) attached. Remember that the company is franchised so prices fluctuate from city to city. I paid around $15 for a lunch in Dublin, California and for the most part the "fast food" meal lived up to what I paid. Having said that I'd deduct a star if I paid a dollar more at any other locations. Ordered five small cheeseburgers and two large fries for almost $80. After 20 minutes or so, I saw five burgers lined up on the preparation condiment table just sitting there. After almost 5 minutes a staff member came in from another room and finish putting the condiments on them. She put them in a bag and then they sat for another seven or eight minutes waiting for the fries to be ready. I had to ask for my now cold burgers and that I would be back later for the fries. They seemed really surprised and confused that I knew they were our burgers sitting there. Halfway done eating our cold burgers, someone brought the fries over. I love the Kosher style hotdog from here!!! It's so good and filling. I usually order it with all the toppings and it always hits the spot. The Cajun fries is a must with your hot dog or burger it gives your meal a nice spicy kick. I love how they offer peanuts to enjoy with your meal and you can scoop as much as you like. There was a short female employee wearing a Black shirt, Black hat, tattoos, and extended eyelashes; working on the kitchen line. She touched her mask while wearing gloves, and proceeded to touch the food with the same gloves on. I told her, and another staff member (Male Red shirt) that she touched her mask, and that is unsanitary. I asked her to please change out her gloves, and can she please make a new burger... she did but; with the new gloves on, she started rubbing her hands across dusty items in the kitchen, then she put her hands on my food, packaged it, and gave it to a Male team member (Red shirt) to hand it to me. That is very unsanitary and unprofessional. I asked a staff member (Male Red Shirt) about her position in the Kitchen... the gentleman told me that she is the assistant manager. I asked for a refund because of how poorly the food was handled. The assistant manager assisted me with my refund. I asked her name, and she said "Yury." She gave me my refund, and I left the store peacefully with no issues. It is a terrible thing that the assistant manager is not practicing slowing the spread of Covid-19, and practicing being sanitary for the safety of customers, and staff members. I do not recommend this Five Guys to anyone! and I will never eat here again. read more

If In & Out is the West Coast's premier burger chain, then I would say Five Guys would be the East Coast version. I first tried it at Dulles Airport while on business in DC many years ago. They later popped up in Pleasant Hill and now Dublin. Even both franchises have red and white as theme colors inside. Unlike the NBA Finals (Go Dubs!), I think both chains have something good to offer! So 4 stars for now. Strengths vs In and Out: * Their burgers have a wider variety of toppings and although they are on average pricier, you also get larger portions. Based on calories, the Little Cheeseburger is close to a Double Double. * Fries in general are thick cut, and provided you stick with regular (not that super salty Cajun version), I find the texture better - crispy outside, really soft inside. * Touchscreen drink dispenser - its just cool! * Free peanuts if that's your thing * Greater menu variety overall - hot dogs, bacon, more milkshake flavors. Also saw grilled cheese sammie. Weaknesses vs In and Out: * Burger overall does not seem as juicy as In and Out, though its still pretty good. * Service somewhat slower, but maybe that's because there's no drive through here. * Company culture - one thing that distinguishes In and Out is the friendliness of their staff. They also run the floor and help take your trays and clear tables. They greet you when you order and it feels like you're in Pleasantville. read more

I tried Five Guys for the first time tonight - I know, I know, I'm really late on this one - but it was certainly worth the wait. And I can say it's worth all the hype. The concept is pretty simple: burgers, fries, hot dogs, and you can either get double burgers if you're starving or single burgers if you're hungry. I went with the Little Hamburger, and added tomato, ketchup, mustard, and green peppers (being able to add as many toppings as you want, free of charge, is pretty awesome too). I also got an order of the Cajun fries. I'm not sure if I'm easily amused or if the soda machines really are worth raving about, but dammit I'm gonna rave about them anyway. It's like being in an episode of The Jetsons, with the touch screens and the 144 flavors of soda, and the not knowing what you're doing or how to serve until you stare for a few seconds and push the right buttons and VOILA! Soda. Raspberry Coke? Yes. Grape Sprite? Maybe, if I liked Sprite. Root beer, because it's my staple? Sounds good. For $3.99 and $2.99 for my burger and fries, respectively, I can say I got my money's worth. The burger is sizable for being the Little Hamburger, with a great, meaty patty and grilled flavor, and that addition of green bell pepper really made the burger for me. The Cajun fries have a real kick and spice to them, and the regular fries are just as good. It's a great burger for if you don't have a big appetite like me, or if you're not hungry enough for the double patty burgers. My parents got the double cheeseburgers and they were generously sized, nothing skimpy. Service was fast and everything is grilled and made to order. I'd come back here again for sure. At $4.99 it's definitely more expensive that In N Out but it's a nice change. An order of regular fries is enough for two people and although I like their fries more than In N Out's, McDonald's still makes my favorite. Their "gimmick" is a place where you can get free peanuts in the shell while you wait for your food. They have many more options for toppings. DH loves the bacon burger. I got a "little" burger, which has one patty and is plenty for a girl. DH got the regular burger, which is about the size of a double-double. I got mayo, tomatoes, lettuce, ketchup, and mushrooms. The mushrooms were sliced thickly and well cooked. I was kinda surprised by the quality. The burger itself was moist and tasty, but nothing really out of the ordinary. IMHO, I don't think they should post all of their accolades on the walls...it makes you expect a burger to knock your socks off. This burger is good, but nothing I'd drive out of the way for. The bun is very soft. As other reviewers said, I would prefer it toasted to give it a little more oomph. Fries are excellent, although it's weird to get it served in a cup! Fries are thick-cut, which give it plenty of area for browning on the outside while keeping the interior moist. Awesome deep potato flavor. Definitely beats In-N-Out here. I didn't like the Cajun seasoning, but DH did. It's heavy on the paprika...to spicy and bitter for my tastes. We were able to get a small container on the side.
