They didn't put my requested pickles on my burger and decided upon themselves to add tomato (I hate tomato on burgers) so, getting my order wrong was pretty annoying. I'm not sure if the cheeseburgers are always doubles, but it was a double and I had to remove a patty since I absolutely did not want all of that meat. I couldn't address it at the time since my husband picked up takeout for us. His order was fine, he enjoyed having a surprise double patty. I love Five Guys but this isn't the best location. The burgers are made so sloppy and they don't put as much condiments as the Fremont location. I always order the Little Cheeseburger with ketchup, mayo, mustard. extra cheese and lettuce. A regular fries to share with whomever I'm eating with and a drink. They have the awesome soda machines everyone is going crazy for. I suggest you order online or download their app onto your phone. Well, the guys working there were friendly enough, but what a disaster that meal was. I ordered 2 burgers, 2 small fries and one large fry. One of the burgers had an extra patty on it, and while I ordered lite pickles, there must have been 7-8 on there. Not my idea of lite. Then there was the packaging. The burgers were buried underneath a MOUNTAIN of fries that were literally dumped in the bag. I was able to dig out the cups they were supposed to be in, so I'm not sure what happened there. The bag was almost half way filled with loose fries! Sometimes more is not better. The worst part of the fry issue was that since they weren't contained in their cups, the grease immediately started seeping thru the bag, running a serious risk of peanut oil spots on my favorite t-shirt. Yikes! Then by the time I was able to reach the burgers at the bottom, the foil was literally coated in fry oil, making for a big greasy mess just getting the food out of the bag! Not only is the food good here, the service is great! They are always busy when we go and they never fail to welcome us and smile. It seriously goes a long way. The bacon on my cheeseburger was cooked to the correct amount of crispness, which can make or break a bacon burger. I would gladly drive out of the way, to come to this five guys rather then the one down the street. After being let down from various places for lunch, we saw Five Guys, and knew we have been saved. Just by taking the first few steps in, I could tell this one was different. A much bigger dining room. The tables were not crowding each other at all. Plus all the tables were spotless. So cleanliness is definitely not a problem here. The kitchen has always been open for you to watch in my experience, but like the dining room, the kitchen was much bigger. Fries cut, and ready in the baskets, just waiting to be fried. You have a nice clear view of the flat top grill and the prep station. They have the soda fountain that's digital, so you get a lot more variety in your choice of beverage. For example: Cherry Vanilla Coke. You won't find that at a lot places. The staff are great. The man taking our order, was friendly and quick. As soon as I told him my order, he passed it on before I could even blink. The manager came out during the meal and asked how we, and the other customers, were doing. Now the food. I got my normal cheeseburger, all the way and Cajun fries. The burger looked amazing. At other Five Guy's the burgers taste good, but they always seem to flatten it down a little. They don't do that here. You can see all the trimmings in layers, down the burger. The burger was hot and the flavor on it was amazing. I don't think they vary that much between restaurants in the way they're prepared. But for some reason this one was just phenomenal. The fries were hot with just enough Cajun seasoning to bring the perfect amount of spice to your taste buds. This one get's an A+ in all categories. Great job guys. read more

Five guys (well 4 guys & a girl) but they did it again.... 5 stars folks! 6 if I could because they now have handspun milkshakes! Was unsure which to try but Samir said it was good so Salted Caramel I picked and he stirred me right! It was soooo good! Not to mention I forgot to order fries so I went back in line and he added to my order so they'd all be done together. Thats a big plus in customer service and i hope he gets acknowledged for it. All the staff was courteous and friendly & all seem to be happy and like their jobs. The tables and chairs were all clean and orderly, both inside and out. Definite kid friendly environment. 5 Guys in Clayton was a great place when it first opened. Not so good anymore. The coke machine hasn't worked in months but the manager still sells cups not saying anything. When asked about the coke machine they just offer a milkshake instead. Also asked for a side of mayonnaise and was give a cup with chunks of meat and who knows what else....Employees constantly cussing at each other with foul language. It's sad to see a really good burger joint become crap!! read more

I stood there for awhile and she acknowledged me then asked for help from the back. No one came, so she had to take my order while she was trying to cook. Recently had my first Five Guys Burger. There has been so much hype about this place I had to try when I was near one. I love burgers and might even be called a burger snob. First thing I noticed was that the place was loud. Not bad for a burger place, but they got my order wrong and I have a feeling the noise was part of the reason. Love the menu and the fact that you can customize your burger at no extra cost. The sautéed mushrooms were quite tasty. Fries were ok and the order was large enough for two people. The real problem was the burger. First order was wrong then the meat had ZERO seasoning, it was very bland. I did like the buns, but it wasn't enough to save the burger. Might have given it 3 stars if the hype about this place wasn't so high. No way this place is any better than in and out, and it gets crushed by Fudds. read more

After hearing a lot about this place and seeing a TV spot on the Food Network I decided to give this place a go last night. Overall it is a tasty burger and I do like the fact you can get pretty much any toppings on it with no extra charge. As most people know, they charge extra for grilled onions and mushrooms at most restaurants that serve burgers. The regular fries are a bit bland in taste but fresh, the Cajun fries have good flavor. One thing that I would complain about is, they don't sell milkshakes whatsoever... Call me what you want but whats a burger without a milkshake to wash it down? I was expecting they would considering all the burger places I have been; In N Out, Fuddruckers, etc all sell good milkshakes. This is our go-to for a great classic bacon cheeseburger! I prefer their regular fries well done, they come out nice and crispy. They do not charge extra for sauteed mushrooms and/or onions- If you're ordering to-go, you will still have to wait for your order unless you tell them to go ahead and make the fries too. Otherwise they usually wait until you arrive to start the fries, so expect a 5 minute wait. Overall a great burger- I prefer them over In-N-Out. Five Guys is a nice restaurant. The fries are amazing!!!!! They gave us like 5 cups worth of extra fries! Pretty good hamburgers and the lady at the register was nice , but I asked for grilled onions and I got raw :( (I don't like raw onions). The atmosphere is nice at the restaurant, everything is very clean and I love the free peanuts. If you are allergies to nuts, this is not the best restaurant for you because they cook their fries in peanut oil and have free peanuts! It is a good restaurant for large groups of people, yesterday we went their with a group of 10 and our food was quickly prepared and everyone was satisfied. Not only do they have great burgers, the guys working their are entertaining. Always with smiles on their faces and always very personable. Excellent customer service. I had some high hopes for this restaurant. After Burger Road closed, I was hoping for something pretty tasty to take its place. Here's the problem. Every time I go here, they screw up my order. I ask for this and that on top of my burger. That's the only real thing you can customize! Inevitably, there are two or three things left off my burger. I know it's not that difficult to turn around and ask for what's missing, but really, it's on the stupid ticket. The cashier wouldn't take the time to punch it up on the register if I didn't want it. Logically, it should be there, no? I'm a pain in the butt customer because I don't eat bread. They don't do a lettuce wrap option, so I'm stuck fork and kniving it. I don't care about that, I expect a messy burger. it's pretty decent, but I wish there was an In-N-Out nearby. Then I'd be complaining about the burger itself. The fries. I must be missing the point? I've tried both the Cajun and regular style. They're thick, undercooked, and really not that great. In my opinion, a good order of fries can stand alone without any condiments. I enjoy my condiments, don't get me wrong. Why then are these so bad? It's like eating raw potatoes. If I wanted them raw I'd open up the boxes along the dining room and eat them like that. Is it a defrosting problem, or do they just not give a damn? Soda fountain is one of those cool 104 flavor hooyahs. It's pretty neat, but its played out for me. This East Coast chain has arrived out West, and their inspiration from In N Out was so obvious even my 5 year old commented on it. That said, In N Out is a pretty decent model to emulate, and these guys have a decent product. I like the simple menu and the burgers are pretty good. The fries are delicious, and plentiful. I'm also a fan of the fresh food movement, and these guys seem to have embraced that ethos. They do have one 'gimmick' that I don't really get - the barrel of peanuts at the front. Don't get me wrong - I was raised in the Deep South - I love peanuts. Just not with my burgers. That fits more with a BBQ joint with wood floors than a diner-ish burger place. No big deal. If they were closer to home I'd give them another shot, for sure. Not life-changing, but pretty good. read more

Very disappointed. Second time I've been here and they've messed up mine and my husbands order. We both ordered a cheeseburger with several toppings. We got the burgers and both of them came with no cheese and more than half the toppings missing and toppings we didn't order put on the burgers. Finally got to try a burger at Five Guys. It wasn't too bad. Not amazing, but not bad. I've heard mixed reviews about their burgers, but I didn't complain too much. Although I do enjoy the fact that they have huge boxes full of free peanuts for you to take and snack on. Also, if you order a side of fries, be sure to get a small. Or just order a large and share with many people. They are really generous with their fries! If you like burgers, this is your place. The fries are excellent as well, and you get a HUGE portion (the "mini" is enough for 2 to share). Good value! You really get your money's worth in terms of quality product. Clean store! Free peanuts while you wait! Efficient, friendly staff! Cons: None, really. So, why not 5 stars? Ordered just a milk shake with strawberry mix-in. Register ran out of paper, so I didn't get a receipt. Guy says "you're good". Minute later different worker calls out #55 (I have no idea what number I was), for single milk shake. Some other dude picks it up. But was obviously waiting for rest of his order. I don't want to say anything, cuz he already touched it (covid times, you know) Couple more minutes past, same customer picks up rest of his food order. In N Out burgers are better. The patty's make it and the sauce, is boss. However, Five Guys' Fries are AWESOME. They are thick, softish, and still have the skin on them. They tasted a bit sweet too..hmm. but hell you get A LOT of them!! I appreciate the different toppings option, however in my burger comparison test I got a "little" cheese burger with mayo, lettuce, onions, and tomatoes (like i would at In N Out). I wasn't wowed, the best part of the burger to me was the bun. The bun tasted like a Hawaiian roll, it was really good. My wife and I love this Five Guys location. Pretty clean and not over-crowded, since it's not horribly close to the freeways; luckily it's close enough to where we live. I'll admit it's probably cleaner and not crowded too because we typically come here for a more late-night burger fix, but that's another plus: it's open till 10pm. The burgers are pretty good and the price is just right for the price, which I'd say is medium priced burger-wise. It's not fast-food quality so it's not fast-food price of course. Really nice co-worker offers to grab me a burger from Five Guys a couple days ago. She raves about this place, says it has the best burgers ever! We discovered you can order on-line and pick up at a designated time, everything's automated including the payment. Very convenient, I guess, but it strikes me as a little sterile. I ordered the "small burger" which is a single patty, and then had to peruse an exhaustive list of add-on's, all of which are free (except cheese and bacon). I added cheese, and only got the regular toppings -- mayo, ketchup, mustard, onion, tomato, lettuce. When nice co-worker brought my burger, it appeared ginormous, but on closer inspection, the patty itself was pretty small and the toppings made up the bulk of the burger. Upon taking the first bite, it was clear that it was terribly overdressed -- too much mustard, ketchup and mayo -- I couldn't taste the burger at all. Worse, was that the sandwich started falling apart immediately and at half way through, I gave up and picked at it. The meat was really good once I ate it separately from the mess of bun and toppings, and ultimately I threw away about half the bun and sloppiness and ate just the burger meat. I won't say I hated it, and I might try again if my co-workers go again, but if I do, I will go with the two patty burger and would ask that they go 'light' on the toppings. No matter, it certainly didn't live up to what I'd expected and seriously, Carl's Jr. which is closer to work makes a more well-balanced burger. Final note: I tried the french fries my co-worker ordered -- they were house-made, I think, but they were very thick and not crispy in the slightest. Limp, greasy and totally unappetizing. Upsettingly horrible. Overpaid for undercooked, nearly raw fries and a bun that tasted two weeks old. Usually a solid place to eat but the fry cook who also was putting preset together was backed up 12 burgers with French fries sat WAITING to be dropped. When we got out food after a stupid long wait, the bottom was soaked through with greasy and the top was as crisp as a cracker, then the fries were literally barely half cooked.
