Not impressed with this. We stopped here for lunch and I was not that eager to try the food. The waiters were not what I would normally expect, and the food was not very good. I had simple chicken tenders with fries. Never again. The chicken was mostly burnt, but the fries, might have been ok. The background was horrible. Dirty floor tiles, and water stained roof. Nothing fancy, a classic old-school diner with all the usual suspect menu items. The service was quick and friendly. We went on a Friday when fried fish was the special of the day. We got one order of shrimp, one pollock, and one catfish. All were done well, crisp on the outside and the fish hot and juicy on the inside. A bit of a dive, but this place has some of the best breakfast in Williamsburg (I can't say for sure since it's impossible to try all the breakfast places around here). The waitresses are a bit snarky, but in a fun way. The food is excellent; my favorite on the menu so far are the corn cakes with honey butter. Dense, rich, and flavorful.... and the honey butter just adds a nice touch of sweetness. Everything I've had there has been great and is priced much fairer than some of the tourist-traps off of Richmond road. If you want a solid diner, this is the place to check out. read more

Only been there once so far, but it seems to be a local favorite and was full of Friday morning regulars. I went classic breakfast with scrambled eggs, hash browns, toast, and OJ. All of it was delicious, and the service was great-- they even had to rush our order because I was running late for work, but everything was perfect. The food was vastly superior to the pancake houses that litter the tourist corridors but, if one is truly objective, it is really only average . I ordered two eggs/hash browns/toast and a side of the corn cakes with honey butter. My companion got the 3 egg omelette with spinach, mushrooms, tomato, and feta. All were as one would expect. The food was bountiful, the service was good, price good, and a quaint room. I deducted one star for the terrible coffee. The waitress said it was the Colombian roast by Williamsburg Coffee and Tea. My family and I were staying in a nearby resort for the weekend, and this was such a convenient choice for brunch that we ended up going two days in a row. The first visit was great. I would've given them a solid 4 based on our experience then. We got there at around 10:30, and it was packed. We spotted a vacant table right by the door that was a little tiny for a party of five, but we took it, since most of us are on the small side, and made ourselves fit. We were too hungry to wait! We didn't get the name of our server, but she took really good care of us. She and a male staff member, who appeared to be one of the owners, made sure we were comfortable, offering us an extra chair for purses, even though it semi-blocked the walkway, and immediately taking away trays of condiments we didn't find necessary in order to make more room on the table. My ten-year-old niece wanted to order a sandwich out of the lunch menu, which they weren't even serving yet, but our server worked with her. I had some of the Old Bay-sprinkled fries that came with her sandwich, and they were divine! I had the Greek omelette but asked for egg whites only and fruit in place of the pita bread and hash browns, and she delivered perfectly. My dad got scrapple, which was too soggy for his liking, but he said it was delicious nonetheless. We thought we found a gem of a diner in Williamsburg that day. The second visit didn't quite pan out like that, though. Again, it was packed, but a party was leaving when we arrived, so we were seated at once. We got a different waitress this time, and unfortunately, she wasn't as pleasant as the one from the day before. She goofed on my mom's pancakes initially but didn't apologize and wasn't as generous with my niece, who wanted the same exact sandwich. (To be fair, we got there a little bit earlier this time around. As a result, my niece had to settle on biscuits and gravy, which she didn't end up eating much of, because there was too much pepper in it for her taste.) She was also rather short with us, which was understandable because they were very busy, but she had an air of rudeness that the server from the previous day never exhibited. She also failed to keep an eye on our cups and glasses and never came back to our table for beverage refills until we asked her to before closing out. Overall, I still liked this joint. Modest, honest, lively, frequented by friendly locals. It does tend to get packed during brunch, though, so make sure you come early enough. The next time I end up in Williamsburg, I'll probably return. I will definitely hope to get our server from our first visit then. read more

It was busy and the staff does a good job being friendly and efficient. They offer a generous military discount with ID. Overall, it's a great breakfast place that's very moderately priced. Four stars, four really good reasons why: 1. Corn cakes with honey butter - Two cornbread-like pancakes that are crisp on the sides and soft inside with silky sweet honey butter for $2.50. 2. Loaded hash browns with onions, peppers, mushrooms and cheddar for $3.00. 3. Not only do they have Tabasco sauce, a bottle of it is sitting on your table next to the bottle of ketchup. 4. Fast and friendly service. Almost makes me think "who needs bacon and eggs?" Almost... We have been in Williamsburg for four days and have not had a decent meal yet...UNTIL we went to Five Forks Cafe! It doesn't look like much but the food was great and the service friendly and fast. I had a bacon cheeseburger and it was great. Not one of those frozen patties thrown on a grill...it was made fresh. Fries were good...they had old bay seasoning on them. My husband ordered sausage gravy and biscuits w/ eggs and hash browns. We split an order of the corn cakes w/ honey butter and they were amazing!!! Would go here again in a heartbeat!!! read more

My boyfriend and I stopped here based off of reviews and we were not disappointed! We live in NY and have some great diners but this was amazing the breakfast portions are huge. This is a nice little diner in a strip mall very close to the Historic Powhatan Resort near Williamsburg, Va. The food and service are above average for this style of venue. Helpful criticism for management. I am a scrapple snob and ordered mine crispy. Although the quality tasted good and was from Pa Dutch country in Pa, I suggest training your cook so that they know how to make it crispy on the outside and soft inside. Also, Rapa from Bridgeville, DE, is a better product IMHO. I would go again. read more

Service was friendly. Got the country fried chicken with sausage gravy. Both were great the sausage gravy was really good and most certainly is homemade. Have to agree with others the hashbrowns not so much - they were funky. Other person in our group had seared chicken sammy that was a butterflied breast look like it was cooked perfectly the fries are good but come with seasoning so if you want naked ones make sure to ask. Hot tea was nice not a small pot or stingy on the tea bags. You get a big pot of water with two liptons in it. Hot chocolate was good and almost seemed like it was cool whip instead of whipped cream. It was nice to go to a dinerish style place in the kinda south where the kitchen did not have a heavy hand with the salt. Biscuits tasty too. Price was great and servings large you won't leave hungry! Really liked this place, wish it was in my hometown! read more

We decided to try the restaurant based on all the positive reviews posted on Yelp. Well, we were certainly not disappointed with the food. I got a club sandwhich on sourdough bread that was delicious. The portions are very generous and the service staff were very friendly. Prices are very reasonable. Came here for breakfast and had to wait for a seat. I had the big breakfast. The eggs were fine and the pancakes were fluffy. The biggest plus was the rye toast and the sausage links, The sausage patty looked like a shrunken hockey puck (and tasted like it too). The coffee was not as bad as I expected. Very bad service and even worse food. My family and I went about 7:00pm on a Saturday night. The waitress took our order and a different waitress brought it out. We live near Williamsburg, and wanted to try some good ol' breakfast at a place we had not yet gone to. So that's our history, and here's the nitty-gritty: ***Corn cakes: VERY YUMMY!! They had so many good reviews, though it's not my item of choice for breakfast, I had to try. I built them up so outrageous in my head that the first bite was actually a little bit of a let down. I felt they were a little oily, but bite after bite, I started falling in love with those little corny critters. They're worth the venture into unknown tasting territory! Honey butter was good with it, but I'm a stickler for REAL PURE MAPLE SYRUP....no such thing there, just the fake stuff most of us grew up on, yet I muddled through! :o) ***Country fried steak: moist, peppery, flavorful, just like my Tex-Mex mom used to make. Gravy was nice and peppery too! Real southern-like. ***Eggs: Over hard is how I ordered it, and that's how I got it. No complaints here. ***Biscuits: soft and salty, in a good way! ***Hash browns: Nothing to write home about; crispy on bottom, soft on top, lacked salt and seasoning. ***Coffee: Well, between the hashbrowns and the coffee, this is way I gave 4 stars. I never tasted the coffee. Yup! I was too "scared" to! I'm a coffee snob, so-to-speak, and so many other reviewers said the coffee tasted bad, so I didn't want to waist my time or money. It was a an unpleasant bummer having milk instead of coffee, but when I left the restaurant, I want down a few more exits on I-64, to "Aroma" coffee house (in Merchant Square), and had some fancy, over-priced coffee instead! :o) ***Service: Here-nor-there; they were nice enough, and we were seated in less than 10 minutes, and the food came out quickly.
