    Corned Beef Hash

Five Forks Cafe seemed like it would be a great little mom and pop greasy spoon. It was not. The positive: 1. Hot cakes 2. A perfect egg over-easy 3. A fabulous egg sandwich 4. Delicious sausage gravy The meh: 1. Service was friendly but not attentive 2. Biscuits tasted like Grands Frozen Biscuits The negative: 1. Hash-browns were not seasoned and definitely frozen because they were still cold in the center. 2. The corned beef hash was easily identified as canned by the tiny dehydrated potatoes and potted meat consistency. 3. Terrible coffee

Decent diner food. It's an old place so don't expect nice or modern decor. We ordered the $12 reuben sandwich comes with crinkle fries, $8 bacon egg breakfast sandwich (they are charging .50 cents extra per egg! and this sandwich has 1 very thin egg), $6 onion rings, $3 coffee. Everything tasted pretty good but the reuben didn't have much meat. The bill came to $32.

My son and I come here a lot for breakfast, they have his favorite pancakes in Williamsburg. We come here wanting and expecting an old diner experience, and that is what we get. It's somewhere we can stop at before school as we have been in and out in under 25 minutes before. Not coming here to be catered too, just to get breakfast in a cute diner.

What a cute diner in Williamsburg! Yes, you read that right, I said diner not cafe! When I first mentioned to my husband I wanted to try out Five Forks Cafe for breakfast he initially was hesitant as thinking it would be a fru-fru place being some high end cafe: I assured him that reading through the reviews the food was good and it was more like a diner then an upscale cafe. When you walk in you can see right back into the kitchen and the cooks were right there on the grill making the food. The place looks like your typical old-school diner you would find where you can sit at the counter and see your food being prepared. We were sat right away and had a very pleasant waitress who was as sweet as could be. We ordered the following food to try: Corn Cakes with honey butter: loved these! I didn't even use syrup just some of the honey butter. Great flavor. Sausage Gravy over biscuits: also good flavor. Nice spice. Pancake: We like them more fluffy but it was still good. Eggs, bacon and hash browns either came with our meals or were ordered as sides and they were all cooked well and yummy! They had a cinnamon roll as a special of the day and it was very good! Nice, flakey and came out hot! This place will be going on our breakfast rotation list for Williamsburg!!

Want a classic greasy spoon diner? This is it. Hidden gem, off the beaten path? Yep. Everything that my family had today was delicious and the portions were generous. The ONLY reason that they lost a star was because the prices have really skyrocketed for most things. The prices are just too high for a diner. I love this place, but it's the truth. The breakfast sandwich with feta, spinach, and tomato was amazing. My wife's corned beef hash was huge, and though she didn't like it, i felt like it was great. My two daughters each got a confetti pancake, which were bigger than their heads! My son had the French toast sticks and devoured the entire meal!

Cute diner that was conveniently located on our way back down to NC. I got the French toast which I'd never seen made with anything other than a brioche bread but it still tasted good! The server was also super friendly and attentive!

The food was average, service average, atmosphere average. Server did not ask about food once she placed it in front of us. If she had I would have pointed out that my omelette was not prepared properly. It was missing the hash browns inside and I received the wrong toast.

What an old-fashioned gem of a restaurant!…read more Today my friend and I tried out this classic Williamsburg breakfast/Lunch spot and it hit the spot! We had a 20 minute wait for a table so we walked around inside checked out the gift shop. They have a variety of jewelry, food items, and trinkets available in the gift shop. We were seated after our little wait and immediately got our drink order taken. Our server was quick to come over and also get our meal order. I ordered the Melinda's special which included a drink, fruit salad, cup of Brunswick stew, two ham biscuits, and a slice of pie. All was very good and I subbed the Brunswick stew for the chicken & rice soup! I love how the ham is nice and thinly sliced and the chocolate pie was to die for! I need to go back and try all the flavors of pie! My dining companion loved her BLT sandwich and said the bacon was cooked nice and crisp! Inside the tables are all wood and the restaurant is located in an old house. It's quaint inside and all the servers are very kind. Will be back for sure!

The restaurant is located on Jamestown Road in Williamsburg in a cute building that was partly built repurposing materials from older buildings in the area, such as Carter's Grove. In addition to the restaurant, Old Chickahominy House also includes a gift shop that sells household decor items as well as pieces of ladies clothing, jewelry, coastal decorations, tea towels, and tea, among other items. It's fun to peruse the shop while waiting for your table. They serve breakfast in the morning and lunch after breakfast. For lunch, we really enjoy the Miss Melinda's Special. It starts with a little fruit salad comprising peaches and a slice of pineapple on a piece of lettuce, covered with a mayonnaise type of dressing and cheddar cheese. I know it sounds strange, but it's refreshingly tasty. You also receive a cup of Brunswick Stew and two ham biscuits. Delicious! The meal comes with a piece of pie, with your choices including buttermilk that tastes like lemon (yum!), coconut, chocolate, and a fruit pie, like cherry. Plus, you receive hot or iced tea and coffee. You also can carry out their menu items. I often order a container of Brunswick Stew and some ham biscuits for guests coming in late from out of town. It's a perfect welcoming meal. I'll post some photos too so you can Miss Melinda's Special, the menu, and the interior.

We are a middle aged couple, and sometimes when we have the kids with us we review from that perspective as well. We were traveling for Thanksgiving and they had a pre set menu for $48 a person which included an appetizer of Winter soup, the main dinner and as amazing! The turkey was cooked perfectly, not dry! The stuffing was to die for, the mashed potatoes full of creamy flavor, and don't get me started on the collard greens! Just give me the whole pot!! They KNOW how to do collards. The desert was also very good, pumpkin pie with butter pecan ice cream. Overall the place was great, my only issue was that you had to make a reservation (which I get) but we didn't have one and figured we would try anyway. So we walk in and ask if there is any available seats... mind you I saw like 4 full open tables, a long high top table with 10-12 seats available... she looks at her list and starts counting, asks if I'm ok with a high top, I say yes, so we take the seats at the long table that seats like 12 as a shared table. So were there for a little over an hour and not one of those available tables when I walked in were used. I am not sure if they have in place where if your 10 minutes late for your reservation then you forfeit your table. Because paying customers would have liked that table. But the food was amazing and that made up for it. With tip, Thanksgiving dinner was about $149 for 2 people.
