    Daiso - Bird Deterent CD

This is a fun place to explore…read more Love the Asian snacks, drinks, and different ramen options offered here. I bought a few things for a small gift basket that included some of the things I mentioned above. An $8 individual ceramic hot pot type bowl that you can heat directly on your stovetop. It had a beautiful cherry blossom design. I also got a chopsticks set, and bamboo hot pad for setting hot pots or pans on. The cashier was kind enough to open the box for me so I could inspect the hot pots for damage. As other people have mentioned, it's like an Asian version of our dollar tree store, only Daiso prices range from $2.25-$18. It's very organized and clean. They have so much variety from toys, to stationary, gardening items, organizing items, laundry items and so much more. It's definitely worth a visit to browse everything they have to offer.

It's worth a visit to see all of the just totally random things they have. This place is hard to…read morecategorize but I'd basically say it's like a Japanese Dollar Tree but with at least 5x as many items. There's tons of stationary items, lots of small storage, little cooking utensils, makeup brushes and bottles, they even had a section for fishing lures. The reason for knocking the star is that the closest comparison is Dollar Tree but it's more expensive. The cheapest items are $2.25, but they carry some of the same things as Dollar-Fifty-And-Up Tree like the same LA Awesome sprays and LA Looks makeup. Another example, I was admiring a small metal trinket tray that turned out to be $6 but only seemed of Dollar Tree quality. I curious what others think, totally worth a stroll if nothing else.

They've got great home stuff in the back, new spices and bottled stuff always coming in, and if you pick through racks - nice bags, accessories, delicious soaps, perfumes, high quality shampoo and conditioner, great clothing finds, and omg the shoes... hit or miss, but sometimes you find a pair that just grabs you. This Maxx has a bit more designer stuff than I've found at other locations, which makes this place even more dangerous and irresistible. If this TJM was a big sticky spiderweb, I'd be the big, dumb juicy bug tangled up in it using my dying breath to squeak out "please take my money, and hey, can I get this bag unlocked?" This location is always crowded. Everyone else seems to know how good it is, too. I struggle to find parking every time I visit. Worth it. But also TJM - I have a bone to pick with you - PLEASE STOP pushing your store credit card on me. This does not improve your customer service when some poor cashier that's working an exhausting holiday shift gives me some 2 minute speech about how great this thing is and I've just got to stand there with hopefully what looks like a smile on my face and pray they'll stop hounding me. Ugh. The thorn on the beautiful rose that is TJ Maxx...

I would rather drive 20 miles out of my way for a mall that has an abundant number of products and services I need to get stuff done. Luckily for me, The Shops at Fort Union are near me. Because of their location near the junction of Midvale, Cottonwood Heights, and Sandy, it's close to a heckuva lot of people in the SL Valley. The first thing I like is that it serves more a close-to-home crowd rather than the business lunch or general shopping crowd of say a Commons or The Shops at South Town. The tent pole store of The Shops at Fort Union is the Smith's: A tried-and-true grocery store with good prices and a stellar selection. The Commons and South Town don't. There's also a Walmart and -- at least very important to me -- is a Petco: toys, training, and grooming for my dogs. Obviously, food is important to us Yelpies! I find myself at Five Guys Burgers and Fries the most. There's also J Dawgs, Chick-Fil-A, Firehouse Subs, The Pie (the best pizza in town, and they deliver), Waffle Love, a Rumbi, Dickey's, Jamba Juice, Starbucks, Teriyaki Express, Nagoya Sushi, Chili's, etc. There also several clothes-centric stores: Lane Bryant, Ross, Mr. Mac, Gordman's, and even DSW shoes. I could list places forever. My only beef is there is a complex right next to it with a Original Pancake House, a Wich Which, Coldstone, etc. that apparently aren't a part of the complex ... they aren't directly accessible and more of a pain to get to than they need to be. Overall though, a great place to shop!

The clothes here are cheap an not well made, I don't usually buy them. Thumbing through, I didn't see much of a selection - same with shoes and housewares, no great finds. This store is really messy and disorganized, even some of the shelving is crooked. I don't want to bother spending much time looking around here, it just stresses me out and makes me want to leave. There are clothes and shoes strewn everywhere. The dressing room area looks dirty (I didn't dare wander into the bathroom). There is always a line here, and to make it as frustrating as possible, they cattle-car you into this line/maze made of low shelving with even more crap in them - it's impossible to find where this line starts, and a pain in the ass the climb over, squeeze past, and wade through all the people and crap blocking your access to it. The staff here doesn't have the best customer service, but I will say I bet it's because they are pretty unhappy at work and might be a little more willing to look more cheerful and do a better job if the management of this store was better. Ultimately I found what I was looking for - a cheap pair of Christmas socks.
