I've never written a review before for a store rather than a restaurant on Yelp. However, the interaction that I had at this particular Five Below was ridiculous and frustrating. I bought a phone case that said it was suitable for 4 different types of iPhones, though it did fit my phone, it did not fit the camera as it was too big and looked weird. I wanted to return the phone case but decided to go back after running other errands. Unfortunately, I might've throw away the receipt or just lost it by accident. I still wanted to go back to see if I can get a refund since I paid with card, especially since most stores will refund you if it was a card transaction. Two ladies came up to me, one brunette, and one blonde, both with glasses and white. They said they couldn't give me a refund since I didn't have my receipt, which is understandable. They did offer me an exchange instead. The blonde lady scanned the phone case and said I can grab something equal to $5.55. I decided to look around the store to see if there was anything else I wanted. I saw a key holder that stated it was $5.55, I included a picture to this review. I give her the item and she scans it. Turns out the key holder was only $3...but she said I had to pay a $2 difference. I don't know what type of math classes she took but why would I pay a $2 difference if the key holder is worth less than the phone case. I kept asking her why and she said something along the lines of taxes and the government. It felt like talking to a wall. She was so adamant about me paying the difference and she didn't understand what my friend and I were trying to explain to her. Whatever, she told me to get a different item, so I looked around the store once again, frustrated that this interaction is being more difficult than it has to be. I grab another item and this time the brunette lady is helping me. She starts lecturing me that I need to have my receipt next time to get a refund or an exchange. Which I totally understand, but she was the one who offered an exchange since I didn't have my receipt. Both of the ladies tones were passive aggressive and they were talking to me as if I was a five year old. Service rating is a five and below. read more

No new products really just the same stuff with either updated packaging, different design, or just the same type of items just repackaged differently for the new year. Mass production of products and consumerism. There is a manager that works here who is really rude. Doesn't say hello. She has curly hair wears glasses. Not friendly. Her and I had a confrontation a couple years back regarding products and merchandise and online orders. She didn't know how to handle the situation. Instead she gave me an attitude for the store's mistake. Rather than fixing the issue to make it better, she got defensive and brushed the problem under the rug. She was talking back and didn't speak professionally. Not quality management material. Just a supervisor acting superior. No customer service skill whatsoever. read more

I'm a fan of the convenience of this location and always finding what I need, and then some! I'm still using my planner and a big reusable water bottle almost a year after purchase. My note is the last time I was in, customer service was painfully minimal and I remember thinking "why aren't there any more self check outs open?" as it was pretty busy and it seemed like only one self-check out register was working. I don't even know if Five Below has "human" check out lanes?? I'll give it another shot but will try dropping in on a Wednesday morning when it's not so busy. read more

love going to five below, they have a ton of great items like makeup, children's toys, home decor, clothes, and a huge candy selection. mostly everything comes out to under $5, but there are some valuables that range up to $20! it's better to shop for those things at other places and just stick with whatever's $5 in my opinion. this five below is in a plaza with other big companies like michaels, starbucks, and other places so the parking is very nice and spacious. the store is big and roomy where you can find a ton of good things. usually they have their self kiosk open but the cashier for some reason helped me scan my items at the self checkout. the it's pretty neat in there, especially considering there's always children in the store. one of my favorite stores read more

This store has a great concept... It's a $5 version of a "99 Cent Store" or "Dollar Tree" where everything is priced $5 or less and I find the product quality to be at least that much better. They also have the wide variety of products you typically find at a general product store. Everything from phone accessories to toys to makeup to exercise equipment to snacks. You can also find seasonal & holiday products. This is a great place to get affordable school supplies or party favors & decorations. The store itself is bright, clean and well organized & stocked. This location is in a shopping center so there is plenty of parking in a well-lit lot. Service here was low. Only one register was open for self checkout and the employee did everything for me idk what's the point of it being self checkout if he's going to scan it. He was busy talking the whole time he was ringing me up to another employee about his personal life. This is a great store that is in the same league as Big Lots, The 99 Cent Only Store, Daiso, and Dollar Tree, but the prices here range between $1 and $5, and they have lots of pop culture novelty gift items in the same spirit as Aahs and Spencer Gifts, so it's a good knick-knack store, with lots for young folks, kids and teens as well as young adults. The price is so good and the selections of products are huge. I like the variety. You can find pretty much everything and you will find something that you never see before, which is very interesting to shop at this store. I love it here . The store is alway neat and clean. All the employees seem happy everyone is smiling and eager to help. It's a warm welcoming environment. One employee stood out in particular that's the manager Anais she is such a great leader customer service is her first priority . I see why this location is so well maintained because they have such great management she leads by example . I always come here they have a great selection as well. 4 dollar umbrellas came in handy last week. I give this place 10 stars if I could. And the Christmas pajamas affordable cute and well made. We were driving by and I decided to stop and look around because I always wondered what this store had to offer. Everything is $5 and under - hence the name - and I went in with the hopes of filling up my cart with a bunch of good finds. But that was not the case. As another reviewer said, this place is like a pre-teen dollar store. Plenty of tacky emoji items and neon colored things to go around. The store itself looks clean and welcoming. Everything was very well organized. But, the aisles are small. I (and a few other shoppers for that matter) kept bumping my cart into the displays and almost knocked a bunch of stuff over. There's plenty of room in the store, so they should consider spacing out the aisles a bit more. I spotted a few cute and unique items here, but ended up putting them back. Everything just looked and felt way too cheap upon closer inspection. For example, they had some LA Kings memorabilia that I was drawn to, like mugs, coffee cups, and lanyards. But the lanyard was an itchy material that I would never wear, the coffee cup lids didn't even screw on all the way, and the logo on the mugs were all faded and peeling. How disappointing. I wouldn't come back. I will stick with Dollar Tree and 99 Cent Store. For less money, the quality of their items are ten steps above. read more

This store is located next to Michaels in Hawthorne in the Oceangate plaza. There are lots of parking and the store is very clean and nice it is fairly new as well. The best way I can describe it is, they sell all the things Marie Kondo would probably want me to get out of my house, and they sell it for a cheap price. They have a ton of poop items that make me smile and laugh, but would wind up cluttering my house. And, extra large tennis balls the size of basketballs. And, tshirts with funny sayings on them (that I spent 5 minutes reading even though I never wear tshirts with funny sayings on them). And, heart shaped fuzzy sleep masks. And, glittery fanny packs. And, all kinds of fun, eye-catching tchotchkes that nobody actually needs in their life but has fun buying and then regretfully never has a good use for them. There was one woman who found some rainbow colored athletic shoes, which looked really cute on her, but I left the store without making a purchase because I knew anything I bought would wind up bringing more clutter than joy. read more

I live in Atwater Village, and had to run an errand in Hawthorne. Driving by I saw the Five Below sign and decided to check it out as I have never been here before. The Giant poster outside says everything $1-5 and I said "Challenge accepted". Surely enough everything is under $5 as advertised. I had never seen a $5 equivalent to the 99 cent store, Dollar Tree/King, Etc. What had been a I'm going to check this place and be out in 10 minutes had turned into a 1 Hour + event. There are lots of great and useful (and also not so useful) things. By the end of the day here, my wife and I had left the store with some T-Shirts, small toys and school supplies for the kids, some snacks, and phone accessories. The total cost of what we spent would have been the equivalent to just the tempered glass we purchased for one cell phone. Not bad considering this purchase of about 10 items is what one thing would have cost over the holidays a couple weeks prior. Even though, this one place we didn't find on our handy dandy yelp...I am thankful to yelp as I was able to find out there is another Five Below closer to home in Glendale. They've got brand name toys, licensed t-shirts, and big-name snacks. They have random kitschy merchandise like emoji pillows, stuffed animals, and practical jokes. And they also sell useful goods like charging cables, headphones and sports equipment. All for $5 or less. That's not bad at all!
