Unassumingly delicious! If you're looking for a great raw bar, this place has it all! It's not fancy, but I would still recommend reservations to ensure a seat. Minimal menu with tons of seafood delights. Our server was excellent. Very helpful for he first timers. Best plate was of course their raw sampler, especially the raw clams.... Which are my favorite and I always have a hard time finding a place that does these! The deviled eggs with fried oysters were super tasty and a nice mini break from the taste of the sea. I have only eaten IN this restaurant but it is good. I grew up in San Diego where fresh fish was abundant in SD and down Baja. I also worked at a fish market in San Diego. My wife and her mom also eat a lot of fish and have pretty strong opinions on fish places. All 3 of us agree over multiple visits that this is a really good spot. My mother in law is very elderly and seems to get pickier (more picky?) the older she gets about where she will eat and Fishwives hits the mark every time with her, my wife, and for me for sure. read more

Vibe is casual and chill (come as you are). Sat at the bar to watch the Celtics vs. Knicks game. Knicks won and they advanced! I had water and my friend enjoyed a Belgian beer. The bartender was so kind and friendly -- wonderful service all around. I had the mac & cheese, fish and chips, and spicy salmon handrolls. The mac was tasty and delicious. The beer battered fish could've used more seasoning, but the spicy salmon handroll was phenomenal. Solid, no frills place for seafood in the area. Plenty of lots in the area, we went for the Parsons East Annex lot on Google maps. We went for a very casual Valentine's day dinner and had reservations since it was fairly busy. From most to least favorite: + Clam chowder: Nice surprise and I loved the smokiness of the soup from the bacon. Not too heavy but filled with other bits like potato. + Oyster sampler: Good variety at $42/dozen. 3 different types, 4 each. + Black cod special: We saw this on the board in front. After that it got busy and there weren't any open tables left. To start off, service was great. My husband tried two kinds of oysters and liked it. We ordered the ceviche and we devoured it. The fish were fresh and the seasoning was a perfect match. Great pairing of the chips! For entree we ordered fish and chips and crab cakes. The fish and chips came out perfectly cooked very flaky. the crabcakes was amazing. It was huge chunks of real crab and perfectly fried while still soft inside. Checked out Fishwives for Dine LA for the first time. For starters, we had oysters and Peruvian scallop. I was a fan. I chose the lobster bisque for my soup & I honestly wasn't a huge fan. I was impressed with the lobster pieces. However, it was quite watered down and missing flavor. The ceviche and octopus was ok.. the ceviche was fresh and the octopus was good but overall nothing to brag about. For the entree, I chose the branzino which was cooked to perfection. We had a nice little lunch at Fishwives with my parents up in Pasadena. It's a fairly simple fish restaurant with delicious and fresh fish. We shared the steamer basket (clams, mussels, and half of a lobster) as an appetizer. It was a healthy amount of fresh, simply steamed shellfish. The clams were especially good. I had the branzino, which is one of my favorite fishes. It was cooked perfectly and came with a side salad and some steamed asparagus. My wife enjoyed her crab cakes, and my parents were happy with their dishes. I finished off my dad's fried cod fish and chips, which was a nice, firm and fresh piece of fish with a light batter. Overall, I wish we had a place like this in Long Beach. There's some good seafood places near home, but there was something very simple and straightforward about Fishwives that I enjoyed. read more

The fish is covered with overcooked heavy batter, and the clam chowder was loaded with with little carrot pieces. DineLA at Fishwives is outstanding!! I took my two young adult kids with me for dinner tonight and we had an amazing time. The service was perfection, the ambience was lovely and the food was absolutely scrumptious. We all had the amuse bouche that included a Peruvian scallop, a shrimp, and a Kumamoto oyster. We all had the clam chowder and the octopus. I had the branzino, my son had the fish and chips and my daughter had the Dungeness crab roll. Came here on a Monday night with a girlfriend, and the place was already packed before 7PM. We grabbed seats at the bar and were lucky to have Jonathan as our server--he was friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. We started with oysters and half a dozen Peruvian scallops, and they were so good we encored both. The oysters were fresh and briny, and those scallops--meaty, refreshing, and kissed with just the right amount of citrus--felt like summer on a shell.
