Big mistake. On Nov 25, 2025, I ordered the MC5 Maki Combo (24 pcs) -- California roll, dynamite roll, spicy salmon roll. What arrived was a disaster: tired-looking sushi, off flavors, and a wasabi that came out as a strange dark green slime. I forced down a few pieces; my wife couldn't eat hers at all. To make matters worse, I was burping an odd flavor for hours afterward. This wasn't just disappointing -- it was unacceptable. After years of giving this place chances, I'm done. Sushi should never feel like a gamble, and I won't be rolling the dice here again.

The caterpillar role is pretty fat and so each piece is a mouthful. The maki are smaller, nicely rolled, and well balanced. It's a very nice assortment. They use a good amount of topiko in the sushi, compares to some places that skimp or skip it all together. We ordered by phone and pick up was ready in under 30min. As per covid restrictions, only 1 person is allowed inside at a time. The entrance opens to a pick up window. Not much else going on inside. Very happy with the delicious meal!

In general the taste and sauces were good for all dishes, and ingredients appeared fresh. Compared to other sushi restaurants in the GTA, I found the rice too 'loose' and not compact. The ingredients, especially in the specialty rolls fell apart easily and did not hold well on the plate. The fennel bomb was large so had to be cut up so was a bit messy to eat. I didn't notice the tempura in the tempura yam. The yam was al dente. The restaurant appeared clean and food was ready when we arrived.

First of all, hygiene is 50-50. On three occasions, I witnessed an individual cough right on the food they were packing without covering their mouth and another time, I saw someone pull up their sleeves while wearing gloves and preparing food. The individual did not remove and wear a new pair.. no, just kept on going as if nothing happened. Lastly, someone went from being on their phone to packing orders. These little details matter. I definitely won't return after my last visit for the reasons above, including the following: I ordered a very specific item and was told the wait time is 5 minutes. Made no sense and I asked is it going to be fresh? The person at the counter who was super unfriendly barely responded. I went home and noticed the tempura in my roll wasn't fresh. The roll was sliced so thin it was falling apart. Threw it in the oven on high heat before eating. Their prices don't make sense. Quality is poor and I'm being generous by giving them 3 stars.

We were both so happy to find this great place right down the road from us. The decor is so lovely and cozy. The space isn't very large. The kitchen was a little understaffed on our first visit. Although they were apologetic. We were given edamame beans as a way of apology along with profuse apologies and an explanation for the slower than usual service. I must say, we didn't find the service particularly slow to begin with. The food was amazing!! Portions were generous. The cuts of fish on the nigiri was unbelievable. As my SO said, "great rice to fish ratio." We will definitely be returning. And highly recommend others try out this new spot in town.

The lady that served us might be a owner she was so nice and so helpful. She came by to make sure we were ok. Food: Ok this maybe simple but the simple things are what makes me love a restaurant. They water they kept Refilling for for us had a hint of lemon in it. It's so simple but a nice touch! We started with beef gyoza it was fried to perfection and so tasty. Then we had the agetashi tofu which is deep fried tofu drenched in teriyaki sauce. Tasted amazing! Our mains were spider rolls, steak bento box and chicken udon e stir fry. The dishes were all so flavourful and the steak was so tender my kids loved it. All in all an amazing restaurant! The prices were a bit high but that seems to be the case in Burlington for ethnic food. But for the price at least the food was excellent. Well worth it! I took a chance on this restaurant and will be my go to Japanese restaurant going forward.
