I ordered Bairdi snow crab legs and jumbo scallops 3 days before Christmas, requesting delivery, as offered, on Christmas Eve with the idea of thawing the seafood upon receipt and enjoying it for Christmas dinner. The website said I would receive a confirmation email with shipping information. My only complaint about the whole process was that I did not recieve that email. So I was nervous until, as promised, I received the delivery on Christmas Eve. I sent an email to customer service earlier that morning requesting status and got a response later in the day that said their system showed that it had been delivered (which it had). This minor communication glitch was far outweighed by the quality of the seafood that was delivered. The Bairdi crab legs were by far the largest, meatiest, most flavorful sweet snow crab legs I have ever had. The qualtiy meat was on a par with King Crab in my opinion. The scallops were huge, tender and sweet. I had EXACTLY the Christmas feast I had envisioned! I don't usually post reviews, but do so here because I felt that the negative reviews I read from others might dissuade people from using this company. I could not have been more pleased with the quality of what I received nor the timeliness of the delivery. read more

When I saw the word "Giant", I thought these Snow Crab Legs would be bigger? The merus is only 4-5 inches long, with very few 5 inchers. I called the company and they told me I bought the smaller sized "Giant" snow biardi crab. They said, I should of purchased the "Limited Giants" instead, that they are a little bigger for a higher price. Well, I thought that "Limited Giant" meant better quality snow crab, and not referencing to the size itself. They failed on explaining that the "Limited Giant" means only bigger in size, and doesn't have anything to do with the quality. We opened box and crab was black like rotten, we tried to steam some of them that didn't look bad but as we steamed them up the inside of crab was black. Recently purchased the Limited Reserve Giant Red King Crab Legs at $129.95/lb. for a very special Christmas dinner. What we got was their Jumbo Alaska Golden King Crab Legs that should cost $64.95/lb. sale price. We contacted Customer service right away and explained our situation. The Manager said that's the way they come. Period. I think we were taken advantage of are owed some money back. You can see in the attached pictures why we were upset. Another Disappointment. It's been a while since my last order due to a poor delivery from FedEx and sub-par snow crab, but I had a shipping credit so I thought I would try one more time. BIG mistake. I've had much better snow crab from a grocery store. I ordered Bairdi snow crab, NOT crab Knuckles without legs on them. The crab was dirty and you could tell that it was from the bottom of the barrel. I found better cleaner crab at New York Steak and Seafood. I let FishEx know about this issue and asked for a refund, but the only thing they did was take me off of their email list. Huh, POOR customer service. read more

Ordered the 4th of July king crab special to arrive BEFORE the Fourth of July holiday as advertised. Yes, going to admit they did their part in shipping it out overnight on 7/2 to arrive by 7/3 hence the credit of one star. But of course I'm here to let you know it wasn't delivered on time nor at all. Still sitting here 7/6 crabless and it's probably out there rotted in a warehouse somewhere. The major issue wasn't being crabless even though I had a party of 20+ people anticipating to feast on 20lbs of king crab.. the issue is that they literally ghost you and ignore every request. I have called their scam of a call center with no call back- I have emailed multiple times with no response. This company is a scam and just ignores you. They will take your money and run. They took over $500+ and have gone silent. So please do not fall for any promos or buy from here. Save your money and buy elsewhere. I recently ordered Bairdi crab legs from FishEx when they advertised a special rate of $29.99 a pound [usual price was $47 a pound]. They arrived and although fresh tasting, I was very disappointed by the size of the Bairdi crab legs. What I received was Opilio snow crab size legs and clearly not Bairdi, by virtue of their small size. I have eaten Bairdi crab legs countless times over the years, ordering from FishEx and other places. I imagine FishEx decided that for their "special sale" they would send the much smaller snow crab and not Bairdi crab. Shame on you FishEx! Finally, I can't help but notice that FishEx has received quite a few poor ratings/reviews but yet they seemingly don't make any effort to either respond to the negative customer experiences nor make things right. Ordered some King Crab Legs and when it arrived it was not Dry Packed it looked like someone took it out of their freezer and packed it. Second was the quality as it sucked again looked like someone went to the grocery store and bought some pieces of leftover crab legs and tried to make it look appeasing. Called Fishex and the lady said well it's the taste that counts well duh that's why I ordered King Crab at least give me some Crab Legs not leftovers. I love FishEx ! I am a repeat customer and I never have any problems. I prefer ordering earlier in the week so the food will get there overnight. FedEx does an amazing job delivering, but you have to take in account the weekends. Don't order on Friday and expect your delivery on Saturday necessarily. I live in Arkansas, and it still amazes me that my crab legs can be in Alaska today and then I'm eating them tomorrow. We contacted the company and Brandi was very pleasant and accommodating and promptly shipped another order without any additional cost to us. I ordered from this company, paying for overnite delivery from fedex, which was delayed a day, so the product arrived completely thawed. After 4 calls to customer svc, I was relegated to waiting till the next day. I did have an email from my CSR, Miss Brandy, who assured me they would handle the problem. It was expedited to a manager, Cade, who was more than helpful with my product replacement. It arrived next day, priority overnite (which I offered to pay for even after the issue.) It was immediately put into cold storage, and when I got it home, everything was still frozen, there was still dry ice in the package. I am grateful for their customer service. Know that if you order from them, it is worth the cost to have it priority overnited to your destination... Haven't tried the product yet, but by the way it looks, it will not be a disappointment. Beware of buying frozen product from this merchant with a promise of being delivered as still frozen. I ordered premium crab meat which was supposed to arrive still frozen with protection by dry ice. The product did not arrive frozen as it was delayed a whole day. This merchant told me ".. order was delayed by fedex, which is beyond our control.". fedex has delivery promises and money back guarantee for delay and damage caused by their delays https://www.fedex.com/en-us/service-guide/money-back-guarantee.html Unfortunately this merchant does not care. The crab that showed up at our home was very average regular snow crab you can buy at a local grocery store at best. In fact, we have had much nicer from Frys and Albertsons. Fisherman's Express, Very disappointed with the Rock Crab Claws we received as a holiday gift from our daughter in-law. The product arrived frozen & cryo-vac packed however we're extremely dehydrated and partially freezer burned. At a premium price of $45.00+ for a dozen partial claws we should expect to receive a product that is palatable. Wow. Where to start. I pre-ordered 4lbs. of Fresh Captain Reserve Red King Crab Legs, the website stated each leg to be 2/3 to 1lb. each, for a preorder price of $42.95 and set up my ship date. I invited friends for a King Crab party the day after they were to be shipped. I received a call the day I was supposed to receive them telling me that the crab was not in yet and they could sent it to me the next Monday (not a great day for a party). I rescheduled for a weekend two weeks away. I finally received my order and opened the package up to my dissapointment. I took out my scale and weighed each leg (9 pieces). The the average weight was 6 1/3 ounces, well under the weight for thier regular crab legs and almost 1/2 pound less than I was charged for. One doubtful coincidence was that the packaging was the same weight as the weight of the crab I was missing. Now what am I supposed to do? I have people coming over for crab and FishEx is closed on the weekends to tell me what to do. I could have bought regular King Crab locally for a lot less money and without shipping, but my friends and I wanted to try the fresh jumbo ones. I sent the company an email and decided to eat the legs instead of having them go bad before I could speak with the Company. The company emails me a couple days later to apologize and to offer me a gift certificate. What?!?! You want me to order from you again and to pay another 30.00 shipping fee, I don't think so. So I get a call later asking me to send back the legs for a refund, but I can't now. She then tells me they can refund the difference between the premium and non premium legs. Nothing for the missing 1/2 pound of crab worth about 15.00. This company appears to be running a bait and switch operation without any repercussions (read the other reviews). It appears that they sell the premium items, then ship you less valuble items, they can then pocket the extra money if nobody complains. The ones that do complain, they can just say sorry and refund only the difference. Although they do have a nice website, DO NOT BE FOOLED INTO USING THIS SKETCHY COMPANY!! I've been ordering crabs from FishEx since 2005. Crab quality has gone downhill since then. The crabs no longer taste fresh nor sweet. Gone are the whole pieces instead replaced with broken scraps and leftovers. Red king crabs - broken into small pieces on 3 separate occasions in 2011. Captain's Reserve giant king crabs at $42.95/lb ordered Dec 2011 are packed the same way - broken pieces that look like scraps. What a shame. It wasn't until today year 2011 that I complained to customer service and sent pictures of the crabs that I ordered on Dec 20, 2011. It didn't help that UPS failed the overnight delivery. I received it on Dec 22. After being loyal for years I can no longer tolerate it. Their prices continue to climb and yet the quality continues to degrade. This deterioration has been ongoing since 2009. That's it for me. I've placed my last order. If you are a seafood lover and enjoy fresh and sweet crabs and are willing to pay big money for it, I suggest you look somewhere else. You've been warned. If you want pictures I'll email them to you. Last update to this review: After updating my review to 1 star and pointing out that nobody called me back, I received a call from Tyler in customer service within a few hours. She explained that they recently had email issues which caused a lot of communication to be lost and said they did not have record of my email. She offered me replacement crab and then offered me a full refund when I said I wasn't interested in the crab (not sure I will be eating crab for a long time after this experience). I get that sometimes seafood will not be perfect; so I don't blame them for the bad crab legs. I was very upset initially that they didn't respond to my email but I also get that technical issues happen. They lose one star for the poor crab legs and initial lack of response but otherwise seem like a fine company given how they handled it. Original review: I ordered their "captains reserve" king crab during peak season for Thanksgiving and instead received a bunch of craP. I spent over $350 to receive 5 pounds of their supposedly great crab. But after cooking and shelling the crab it appeared they gave me a mediocre dying crab. The flesh was gray/black. And all of us vomited. I wrote them the following week asking to exchange the remainder of the crab they had sent and they didn't even take the time to acknowledge my email. Was very disappointed when I received my package from Fish Ex....ordered 8 pounds of FRESH snow crab and 2 pounds of cod....When I opened the box the crab legs were thawing from being frozen and some had little pieces of ice on them. I proceeded to rinse a small crab cluster under cold water then tasted the crab meat. I've had fresh, never frozen crab legs before and they taste DRAMATICALLY different than frozen crab legs. Fresh have a slightly different texture, not watery and NEVER salty. These supposed fresh crab legs tasted like the above. When I opened the package of cod it also was very watery and had little pieces of ice on some of the fillets. I did call Fish Ex and left a message with the answering service. I received a phone back within 10 minutes from a Fish Ex employee. I explained my situation and she proceeded to tell me they never sell "refrozen" fresh seafood. She said they refrigerate there seafood/fish anywhere between 27-32 degrees to maintain its freshness and taste....Sounds like FROZEN to me! Needless to say she apologized for my dissatisfaction and offered $10 store credit per pound of seafood I purchased BUT why in the world would I want to purchase anything else from this company? Ordered 10 pounds of Dungeness Crab clusters for $379 that arrived not as clusters, but broken into mostly little pieces. All 10 pounds were packed into one box and not secured in any way, so it's not surprising they broke apart during shipping. I emailed and called FishEx and a person named Brandy told me that they would not send new clusters, that all she would do would be to contact FedEx. This is Monday and Christmas Eve, when we serve the crab, is Friday so contacting FedEx will not be a helpful fix in any way. She said that's all she would do. Terrible customer service. read more

This is the best place to buy salmon, halibut, shrimp, and crab, period. Been buying here for years and quality has been consistent and fabulous every time. This is the only place I've bought fish that has not been "fishy." The fish ships flash frozen or fresh and not once has it had any smell whatsoever. Pack the freezer and pull out fresh Copper River Sockeye or Yukon River King, year round. Their blue crab and king crab is the best, especially the huge Captain's Reserve claws. I recommend FishEx to everyone I meet, because they ship you the freshest Alaskan seafood. First of all I ordered some crab legs on the 3rd of Nov. The crab that I ordered was supposed to be here on the 7th of November. So I called almost a week later to find out they never put a shipping label on it. I was going to cancel but the lady said she would put a gift in there like some crab cake's. Horrible service! Website extremely misleading. Ordered ( or thought I was ordering) 5 lbs of fresh, specifically never frozen king crab ( @$69 or $79 per lb. FishEx had a specific time window for the never frozen crab , ending on Nov 2, 2020. I wanted this for my wife's 60th birthday . Having lived in Juneau AK for a number of years, we always had fresh King Crab available, never would touch frozen, even FRESH frozen, it's still frozen. Once frozen, meat is rubbery, watery, and tasteless, ick! On Nov 4 , I received the styrofoam package from FishEx, as promised. Opened and found 5 lbs of frozen crab! It took 2.5 days to thaw in refrigerator the King Crab was predictably, rubbery, and complete tasteless. Not the tender, flakey, and sweet meat that is the trademark of never frozen King Crab. So dissatisfied and disappointed. Sent email to Customer Service regarding the order and received the most rude reply stating I received what 'I had ordered'! Period! I replied back and asked then why was there a specific time frame stated on the website for the fresh? She sent another curt email saying that was for the ' fresh frozen'. End of subject. No attempt to try and correct the rectify the problem, unlike most other quality reputable vendors out there! Stay away from this 'fishmonger'!!! I was tasked to find some crab for my family's Christmas dinner and the stuff they were selling at Safeway was cheap and wimpy looking so I looked around and found Fishex. We're both in Anchorage so I just went to their place downtown. The staff was friendly and very helpful and I left with 3lbs of their captain's reserve and it was DELICIOUS. We all loved it at Christmas, it's great if you dip it in butter sauce and make sure to take the tendons out when shucking it. Anyways, I love crab. I ordered 3 lbs and when I received them I ended up with three large body parts and some legs that were broken from the body. I would expect better product from a company like Fishex. The money I paid for these I could have gone to local grocery store and got a much better selection. I sent the customer service an E-mail along with a picture on Feb. 2nd of how disappointed I was with the selection of what they sent me and they did not even have the courtesy to return a reply back. I have been ordering fresh King Crab legs from this company for about 7 years now. I have spent literally $1000s of dollars. Their fresh King Crabs legs are great and the price is high but fair. It is how they treat their customers that is awful. I've had several issues with them in the past but always let it go because I love their crab so much. This last issue was a deal breaker for me. I ordered fresh crab to be delivered July 3rd for my huge 4th of July party. The crab arrived 3 days late and spoiled. Since I had another order coming the following week I asked them to add the crab that I should have got on July 3rd to that order. They agreed but would not agree to refund my shipping fee for the first delivery or agree to give me a credit. That's bad business any way you look at it. FishEx has improved a lot. I always had great quality seafood from them, but had previously taken issue with the way they shipped their crab legs. After learning that they changed methods for keeping the crab frozen during shipment, I got a shipment of their Captain's Reserve Red King Crab (which is always amazingly delicious) and the crab was perfectly frozen still and there was no mess with the packing materials. It is nice to know there's a good go-to for hard to find quality seafood. read more

The reason for giving one star is that they are way way over-priced. We ordered Giant Alaska Snow Crab ($22.95 lb) and Captain's Reserve Giant Snow Crab ($33.95 lb). The two crabs are about the same size. You cannot tell the difference. Yet one is 50% more expensive than the other. The Dungeness Crab Legs are $23.95 lb. In California you can get LIVE Dungeness crabs for $4.99 lb. Don't waste your money here. read more
