My first time in Anchorage, Alaska and I heard so many people saying I would have to visit the local market so I could get seafood packed and bring back home. However, this place was pretty disappointing. Everything is frozen already. It looked like something I could buy at Costco or any of those big stores and it was extremely expensive for the quality that it looked like it's definitely super small not an actual market and it wasn't worth me going and thinking I could get stuff packed and bring back home. Unfortunately I ended up getting nothing and I rather get seafood from somewhere in New York instead.. I did take some pictures of some of the stuff. Friendly staff. Great variety of crabs, fish, and smoked salmon. Loved taking home king crab legs and dungeness crabs. They packed them so well. It was frozen even after a 10 hour journey including a layover. And our entire family feasted on seafood. read more

I'd recommend 10th & m if you want to purchase seafood and ship it back home or take that with you on the plane. It was very convenient. We came here and picked a dungeness crab. The staff wrapped it put it in a box and put some dry ice inside to keep it fresh. Our flight was only 5 hours but they said it's good for 24 hours. Besides dungeness crabs and king crab lesgs and claws they also have some canned salmons that would make great souvenirs. read more

I visit 10th and M Seafoods nearly every time I come to Anchorage, they have the absolute freshest and best tasting fish and seafood. Their salmon is particularly good, I usually buy the king salmon fillets, which are absolutely delicious. I've bought king salmon from a number of places in the lower 48, and none of it compares to the fillets I get from 10th and M. Their king crab and halibut is also really good, and their seasoning is to die for (the salmon seasoning pairs perfectly with their salmon). They have a variety of packaging options, depending how far you will be traveling, and while I usually just get an ice pack or two since I bring my own cooler, you can get it fully packaged up too. Even if you live far away and are flying home, if you are a seafood (especially a salmon) lover, you owe it to yourself to get some fish/seafood (and seasoning) from 10th and M to take home! read more

Excellent source for fresh Alaskan seafood! Super friendly staff! Glad I found this place before heading back home. Picked up a ton of frozen halibut and king crab along with canned king salmon which they packed with dry ice and gel packs then boxed inside a styrofoam cooler. All this was completely sealed up and the perfect size to toss in my big checked bag and fly back home. I've been enjoying the halibut week after week now since there's no supply of it at home. Next year we're planning a fishing charter and plan to have 10th and M process and pack it up for us, especially after seeing the quality of their processing/packaging. read more

Stopped in here to check out some local seafood...I mean c'mon its Alaska...and when in "Rome!" I was glad to see how fresh much of the fish was like the halibut and the cod. (it had just come in) (not frozen) They also had spot prawns that were fresh from the boat and that's tough to find anywhere as almost ALL shrimp is frozen at some point. They were a bit pricey at $24/lb. but hey, I'm on vacation. So we got some and man were they good. I'd love to give this place 5 stars, and maybe its not their fault but the prices of halibut here are the same in Michigan, and the prices of King crab are almost twice that of Michigan!!!! What gives? Doesn't make sense to me. Maybe its because I'm in the city, IDK but its really annoying. read more

A perennial favorite since the 1940's. This place is really hidden in a residential area of the city. Take an Uber, Lyft, whatever floats your boat... but you can't leave Anchorage without some really good seafood. I bought some beautiful King Crab legs, a bag of the "bits and pieces" which are a bargain and some Chinook salmon. I'd like to say seafood here is sooooooo cheap... but, its quality seafood so you'll pay an average price. One thing is clear, its super high quality. Here's a tip, if you like King Crab crab a bag of the "bits and pieces"... these are the legs and other pieces that have gone rogue. They put them in a bag and you should pick one up at discounted price compared to the whole crab legs. We ordered 5 pounds of Alaska King Crab from 10th& M Seafood in December for ourselves and 3 pounds for our friends. We were having family in, so we ordered the crab for dinner on the 23rd. The crab was to be sent overnight. We waited around all day for the delivery, which never happened. Fedex said that they had delivered the package. We have a Ring doorbell, so we have a record of everyone who comes to the front door. No one from Fedex showed up. The package also required signature at delivery. The driver changed that to no signature required. Total falsifications from Fedex. That was not 10th& M's problem. I called 10th and M. They said that they would send a replacement shipment, which they did. When we unpacked the shipment, my wife looked at it and said that it was not 5 pounds. I got out our scale and sure enough, it was only 4.4 pounds. We had paid for 5. After paying for 5 pounds and not having it delivered by Fedex, we were upset. When we received the replacement shipment and found that it was short by over half a pound, we were exceptionally upset. We thought this showed the true character of 10th & M when they sent the replacement pack. Not quite. What showed their true character was shorting us on an order. We will not be doing business with 10th & M again. read more

Had 150 Pounds of Sockeye custom processed that I planned to present to potential buyers for my direct marketing business. I wrongly assumed that 10th and M would take the time to package them in such a way that my fish would look presentable and professionally packaged. The vacuum packing was terrible. Lots of air pockets in the packaging. Also when they froze the fish they didn't even take the time to freeze it flat, but it looked like it was haphazardly thrown in the freezer. A couple were even bent in half when they were frozen. Needless to say, for 4.50 a pound price I was very disappointed. Now I have to find people to eat this fish, because I will not even consider using it as sample fish for potential buyers. Customer service was good though and the guy filleting was very talented, however, I will not be getting any more fish processed there. Alaska Sausage and Seafood did a phenomenal job on the other half of the fish that I dropped off there. I would highly recommend that establishment. read more

I think I was swindled. So I fly from California (day trip to pick up fresh seafood). There's no better place to get it but Alaska right? WRONG. This trip was not even 24 hours. We flew in, took our cooler, filled it up and went right back to the airport. This place will charge 12 dollars for a box if u need packaging, we had our own. Upon arriving back home I took all the contents out the cooler and placed it in my fridge. The next morning, I start taking the fish out portioning the pieces and prepping them for freezer. That's when I noticed WORMS in my fish. I didn't come all the way to Alaska to spend good money on fish with worms. Worst part is the worms were live!!!! Some pieces of fish had already been seasoned when I noticed WORMS coming from the flesh of the fish. Multiple worms at that!! I attempted to pick the worms off and some of the worms broke away inside the flesh of the fish because they were so delicate. Immediately I called and spoke to Pete, Peter..someone with a P, cant quite remember. He was slightly amused, laughed and said its common. My problem is there was NO signage in the store that says this was a thing. Buyer beware!!!! If there was I could have made a better decision. He then told me he was surprised it was in the salmon, normally its in the white fish (which I had purchased an abundance of as well). I couldn't stomache to go searching for more worms. Overall I couldn't stomache myself to eat or cook anymore fish. In fact this entire experience has made me NOT want to eat fish at all. Which is so sad. The service inside the market was exceptional. We were helped instantly. Located in or near downtown which was right where we needed to be. Place seemed nice and clean. Excellent customer service! I needed some dry ice last minute in Anchorage and found (through Yelp, yay!) that these folks have dry ice. But that's not all, obviously. They're so much more than a place to buy dry ice - they're a full fledged seafood store. Fresh caught, local, you name it, it's here. And during the quick 2 min wait it took to buy 5lbs (for about $10) I perused the shop and found King Crab legs, various fish including some gorgeous looking salmon, and more. This is a one-stop-shop for anyone looking to serve local, fresh food for dinner. But it's also a great option for shipping gifts to friends and loved ones. They've even got prepackaged gift sets. And you know they've got the dry ice to ship it with too! The gal at the register was extremely friendly. Just hanging out waiting for my order of ice, we chatted for a quick set and she talked to me about the history of the business, their offerings, and how lots of people come by for dry ice. IDK why I haven't written a review for 10th & M yet. I guess it just didn't dawn on me until I saw the Yelp sticker on the door yesterday. I've been a regular here for the past two years since I moved to Anchorage. I only live a few blocks away, and they offer freezer locker rental. Since i live in a small condo, having a convenience like that is just priceless. They always have a good selection of Alaskan seafood and other delicacies too. I asked the sweetheart of a girl, Sarah, if they had any soft-shell crabs. She returned from the freezer with a whole box of them, and I took 16. The bill came out to be less than ten bucks! I work for an airline, and they offer me a discount if I pay cash. They have a good selection of styro shipping boxes to send yummy stuff to my friends and family Outside. For you non-Alaskans, "Outside" refers to the lower 48 states, or any place other than here. Fresh products, great customer service, and convenient to where I live. Win! read more

Last year I had king crab legs bigger then my leg- and salmon fillets that were so fresh we could eat it raw. Back in 1943, 10th & M was the place to go to store you meat and fish. Today it is a little known gem in the vastness of Alaska. Until recent years, you could bring your fresh caught salmon and $2 bucks in and get the same weight in smoked goodness. The market sells the widest variety of fish north of Pike Place Market in Seattle - but its packed in a small corner store. The fish some of the freshest around, the people are nice and can give you a hundred ways to cook salmon and best of all you can order by mail. If you know of anyone who loves really great sea food - check out the website or go there yourself and you will have a bit of Alaska without having to travel 3000 miles. It's all seafood and they don't cook....it's purely a market. Scallops and salmon were a decent price, but the Alaskan crab legs.....a rip off in my opinion. Sometimes you can find better deals at Fred Meyer or New Sagaya's, but of course the selection will be limited in comparison to 10th & M. read more

These guys are awesome!!! More concerned with customer satisfaction than profit margins. I've purchased their seafood gift boxes for family in the lower 48 at Christmas for several years. This year my 86 year old Grandmother moved and gave me the wrong forwarding address. It took several phone calls between me, Abbey at 10 & M (who went above and beyond) and the jackasses at Fed Ex (who placed the package at the back door-albeit at the wrong house) to figure out what happened. But, even though the fault was mine, they said that since I was a loyal customer, they felt horrible about the situation and sent out a new package at no charge. Love these guys!!! read more
