Since it's our first time, we didn't have any experience shipping home 40 lbs of fish! On our way back to Anchorage, we researched processors that can prepare and package the fish so we can bring it back on the plane with us to CA. The first facility was very busy and the lady said that the person doing the processing didn't show up that day! We were in Anchorage for just a few hours that day and it was getting late so we had to find another facility. That's when we learned about Alaska Sausage and Seafood! As soon as we got there, someone met with us and explained the process, arranged to prepare and get the fish ready for us to take home a few days later (we had a few more days to spend in Denali before heading back to Anchorage to catch our flight). They even had a freezer to store the fish so we can pick it up outside of their business hours. How convenient! We got an email a day before our flight letting us know that our salmon was ready to be picked up. The customer service is 5 out of 5 stars! This is how business should be done (we are business owners too). Well, next time we visit AK to fish, we know where to go! Thank you Alaska Sausage and Seafood Company! We are enjoying our salmon in CA!

The ambience is just like a regular meat market you go in and there's a counter with all the meat. We walked in and we asked for a specific type of steak. We saw the prize of moving on. We needed to get five and so we asked about recommendations on a cheaper cut of steak that would feed fat people and not break the bank. They were really helpful and helping us pick out the steaks that night and then we also picked up some bacon and I believe some dried meats like ham hocks or it was turkey necks. I don't remember. We have gone back and we had thought about looking at meat packages, but we haven't done it yet. We don't have room in our freezer, but they have really good prices. If you're looking straight from the butcher check them out I think you will be surprised at what you can get there and what they do have also ask about anything you may not have been able to find they may have it.

I've always been happy with Fulton Fish Market out of NY, but as they were out of a product I usualy order, I thought I'D TRY FISHEX FOR THE FIRST TIME. I ordered their "LIMITED Reserve Giant Snow Crab (Bairdi)" SALE: $48.71 lb based on the descriptions and pictures. MAN, DO I FEEL DECEIVED! I should have known the picture was wrong when I saw small pointing parts on the crab legs. Snow crab have smooth legs! FISHEX ADVERTISES THEM AS "This Limited Reserve giant snow crab is unlike any snow crab you have ever tried. We hand-select only the largest & best of the catch, for your enjoyment... Limited Reserve crab is the biggest that you can buy. Makes a delicious & exclusive gift, a fantastic meal for special occasions, or a luxurious treat for yourself." I get a similar size at my grocery store for about $12-$14 a lb. I am NOT IMPRESSED with my order. There was NOTHING SPECIAL ABOUT THE SIZE I RECEIVED FOR $235. If you're looking for GREAT crab, I suggest Fulton Fish Market in NY. I've never had any problems with them - to the contrary, I've actually been very pleasantly surprised by their products AND their customer service. Oh well, live and learn, I guess.

Review of New Sagaya City Market - Anchorage, Alaska…read more Five weeks ago, I moved from San Francisco to Anchorage, settling near the downtown area. One of my first missions was to find a coffee spot that felt like home--a place with not just great coffee, but genuine people behind the counter. After trying a handful of cafes, a neighbor suggested New Sagaya City Market, just two blocks from my house. What a win. The market itself offers high-end, quality products. Yes, prices are a bit higher than what you'd find at Walmart or Target, but coming from San Francisco, I was prepared for that. What truly sets this place apart, though, isn't just the products--it's the people. From the very beginning, the baristas here have shown me the most consistent and heartfelt customer service I've experienced since moving to Anchorage. They don't just serve coffee; they connect with you, listen to your stories, and make you feel like part of the community. Today was a perfect example. I slipped in the parking lot (rookie mistake--no spikes on my shoes for the icy ground). After two kind gentlemen helped me up, I walked inside with my spilled coffee. Annie, a new barista I hadn't met before, immediately offered me a fresh cup with such kindness and care. That small gesture meant so much--it wasn't just about the coffee, it was about feeling seen and supported. I also want to shout out Monica and Shea, who I met when I first arrived five weeks ago. They've been consistently amazing--funny, charming, and genuinely interested in conversations about life, community, and even my adventures back in San Francisco. Every time I come in, I leave feeling lighter, happier, and more connected. Thank you, Annie, Monica, and Shea, for making New Sagaya City Market my go-to coffee spot. You've given me more than great coffee--you've given me a sense of belonging in a new city. --- Would you like me to make this version short and punchy for Google/Yelp reviews, or keep it longer and more storytelling-focused for something like a blog or social post?
