That was very good jerky
Alan C.

I stopped here twice in a period of a week. Four stars the first time, Absolutely five stars, the second time. Hey, Guy Fieri was here, and so of course I had to stop in when I was passing through town. It's a nice space. Nice and simple. You order at the counter, and then they call your number. They have a very large menu, including quite a few few different type of fish that you can have for fish and chips. They also have a good amount of items that you can buy to take with you in their case. Ordering was a little bit confusing. There are two order windows. I stood at one for a couple of minutes, nobody acknowledged me, nobody said anything. That's when I looked over and noticed that they were doing the ordering from the other window. It would've been nice for somebody to do at least say, "hey, they are taking orders from the other window." I went over to the window and I ordered. I ordered a cup of the fisherman's seafood stew, and I also ordered the crawfish. (I call it crawdad.) pot pie that Guy had on the show. I also ordered a half a pound of the sweet and spicy halibut jerky The jerky was amazing. A little bit sweet, a little bit spicy, and it's not hard and extremely chewy like a lot of jerky can be. It's kind of like about halfway between hard and tender. The flavor itself was very good. I will have to be careful so it lasts a while I' also loved the fisherman's stew. It's a tomato based broth, and they were very generous with the seafood. It was a little bit rich, a little bit spicy, and the seafood was very, very tender. Unfortunately, the pot pie was a little bit of a letdown. The gravy was savory, a little bit rich, and very flavorful with also just a little bit of spice. The crawfish were savory and just a little bit sweet. It was nice being able to have crawfish already shelled. It also came with a sour cream which added to the flavor. The problem was, the top crust was a bit over browned on the top. The bottom of the top crust, as well as the bottom crust, it's like it wasn't done all the way. It was a little bit gummy. That took away from the pot pie, just a little bit. Overall, a very successful meal. The jerky is absolutely on the high-end price wise, but the soup and the pot pie were very reasonably priced. I would love to come back and try some of the different variations of the fish and chips. Overall, it was a good meal. Thank you. UPDATE... I was passing through town again, so I decided to stop again for lunch. This time, five stars all the way A 100% excellent lunch. I decided to go for the fish and chips this time, for my fish, I chose wahoo. In Hawaii, wahoo is called "ono", which also means "delicious." spoiler alert, it was... I was served very quickly. My number was 176, and when I sat down, they were only at number 162. I still had my food in a little over five minutes. The chips were very good, with a light crisp on the outside, and soft and tender in the middle. The fish was amazing! Very lightly battered, with a fantastic crunch. The fish was firm, with just a little bit of flakiness to it. The perfect texture. It had a mild flavor, and was just a little bit sweet. An absolutely excellent fish. I tried 4 of the sauces from their sauce bar.(they had even more on the other side that I didn't see until after I had my lunch.). The only one I didn't care for, was the "Tijuana terror." It tasted very good, but it was just a little bit too spicy for me. The tartar sauce was excellent, the cocktail sauce, I could definitely taste the horseradish, but it wasn't strong enough to blow out my sinuses. I really enjoyed the "bang bang sauce." I could taste the chilies, but the aïoli that it came in, definitely mellowed out the spiciness. An excellent plate of food and a soda, and I was out the door roughly 15 bucks. An amazing price for a fantastic lunch. Thanks again.

If Guy Fieri been here, I'm going to love this place! Came here for dinner and the place was bustling with a line out the door. Everyone in line was hungry and excited to get inside and order. When it was my turn, I got the clam chowder and the Captain's Platter with cod as my fish choice. Food came out fairly quick. They call your number and you pick it up at the counter. My clam chowder was to die for. Lots of fresh clams and potatoes. Yum! The fried clams, shrimp and cod looked like it was a little over fried. But I saw other people's plates looking the same so I started to eat mine and absolutely loved it! I'm excited to come back, enjoy a great meal and pick up some smoked fish and some of the take and bake items.

We stopped in for lunch and, despite the restaurant being almost full, we were able to place our order quickly and find a table without much trouble. One thing that stood out immediately was how tight the seating was. It was difficult for many guests to move between the tables. During our visit, I saw at least three older customers struggling to navigate the narrow aisles, and one woman on crutches had a particularly hard time getting through. Accessibility is definitely an area that could use some attention. The restrooms were also located outside and, unfortunately, were quite dingy and in need of a thorough cleaning. For lunch, we ordered the fish and chips special, crab cakes, and clam chowder. The clam chowder was the biggest disappointment-there was very little seafood and it was mostly potatoes. The crab cakes were also far too salty. I understand that crab cakes are often seasoned aggressively, but these crossed into territory that made them difficult to enjoy. The fish and chips ended up being the saving grace of the meal: crispy, flavorful, and easily the best dish we ordered. We also shared a kombucha, which was refreshing and paired nicely with lunch. Pricing was reasonable, but for me the food quality and execution didn't quite justify the reputation. Parking was also challenging, especially during the busy lunch rush. Overall, it was an average experience with a few bright spots, but there's definitely room for improvement

First time actually sitting down and having dinner here. Iv been coming here for a number of years for the fresh seafood. I was less than impressed with the food. I had ordered the Dungeness crab dinner, the crab meat was very mushy and watery almost like it was frozen and thawed out. I also ordered the captains platter which on the menu says you can get the fish grilled or fried. Apparently they don't grill anything and everything comes fried. They would only grill my 5 little shrimp. Because I asked for them to grill it. My muscles were very chewy and rubbery. Doubt I'll come back for dinner here again.

Fun spot for fresh seafood in a casual atmosphere. You walk in and order, they give you a number, and you wait! Ordered a bowl of clam chowder. I am a clam chowder "snob" and I enjoyed it! Clams were fresh and it was served hot, just had too many potatoes. About the time I polished off the bowl my.number was called and my Diablo pasta was ready. Linguine pasta with shrimp and scallops. Had some spice but it wasn't "Diablo" and could have had more spice. I was really impressed with the value here, dishes were under $20 and it's hard to get good fresh seafood at that price. Will have to try the fish and chips and order dessert next time!

Must stop in Eugene! The gumbo was so fresh, flavorful and packed with shrimp, chicken and sausage. The fried cod and rockfish were excellent. Will definitely go back next time I am in Eugene!

I got the fish tacos, i prefer the wahoo over the salmon. Both are fresh and tasty. Hubby got the fish and chips, it was not oily, flaky and tasted really good. Clam chowder is a hit as well.

Cindy I.

So glad we found this place. I got the halibut fish and chips for $20 that was very generous. The breading was very light and crunchy and I was very happy. Also enjoyed the waffle fries. My husband got three tacos - halibut, shrimp and lobster. All tacos were very good but would not get lobster next time as the price is higher and was a bit lots in the flavor of the sauce needs to be more on its own. He also felt very generous and might have been fine with just two. The bathrooms are outside and there are keys up front. Very popular but they get the food out pretty quick. Will stop here again as we pass through town.

Captain's Platter

Amazing food! Must go try this place if you are in the area. We tried this on day 1 of our trip and made sure to fit in time to try it on the last day of the trip

Grilled or fried Rockfish

Featured on Diner's, Drive In's, and Dives with Guy Fieri! Fun spot with crab in tanks you can view along with grab n go items like smoked salmon dips. Staff recommended the Rockfish & Chips- I was able to get it grilled. I tried it with multiple sauces, all so good and made in- house. Parking is challenging, especially with a large vehicle, but so worth the drive.

Our second stop on our road trip from Seattle to the Bay Area. We ordered the clam chowder, fish n' chips with one of the fish specials (ling cod), crab cakes, and lobster taco. The clam chowder & fish n' chips were the stars of the show here! The fish n' chips had the perfect fry, super thin and crispy, no mush, and an amazing contrast with the juicy fish inside. The fries here were also pretty good, especially with the cajun sauce (even though the bang bang sauce is their staple, I think). Clam chowder was excellent, though a tad salty for me but a solid standard New England clam chowder with a generous serving of clams (god bless). The crab cakes were interesting--the texture wasn't particularly for me, but I liked that they had a bit of a spicy kick to them! Lobster taco was decent, although I think I would have preferred to eat this without the tortilla. The filling was amazing and the bang bang sauce definitely stood out here and helped to highlight the lobster, but the tortilla didn't mesh too well with the flavors of the filling. Friendly & fast service, I want to come back and have more fish n' chips with different fish LOL.

Wahoo & Chips

Now listen, I've eaten fish in places where the seagulls judged me harder than the chef, but Fisherman's Market in Eugene is the real deal. No fancy bells, no whistle and just honest, no-frills service and fish so fresh you'd swear it still had stories to tell. I wandered in and found a small seating area tucked away, nothing flashy, just folks there for the same reason: good food. And good food it was. The fish was fresh, cooked right, and full of flavor and none of that overworked nonsense, just straight-up tasty. If you're looking for glitz, keep wandering. But if you want a solid meal that feels like it came straight off the boat, this is your spot. I'd happily cast my line here again. I am sad my daughter is graduating because I most likely won't have a chance to be back . Sad !!

Sauce Bar

The food here is delicious and a wonderful spot for freshly caught seafood! Service is friendly and welcoming. They make everything to order so it's fresh and hot. I ordered the special Ling Cod Fish n' chips with a cup of crab bisque. There's plenty of seating available inside or outside and I love the inside of the place where you can see the live seafood in tanks on the right side and the overall naval theming. There's a sauce bar near the counter where you order where you can get cups of sauces of your choosing which they have a great variety of along with various toppings for your food. The crab bisque was rich and creamy and was well-seasoned. I love the generous amount of crab meat they put inside and it was one of the best soups that I've had. The ling cod fish & chips were delicious. The ling cod was fresh and moist on the inside and the batter on the outside was crispy and crunchy and combined with their sauces, they were fantastic. If you are in Eugene and are a fan of seafood, you have to come check out Fisherman's Market! They have so much variety to choose from and you won't be disappointed!

I was wondering if there were any Gluten Free options available. Is there any Gluten-Free pasta, bread, or tortillas? Thank you!

Wife eats gluten fee and see always found something to eat here.

Yelp says they have outdoor seating. Is that true? I'm told they are *takeout only*.

There's seating in the restaurant, and they have covered patio tables

Is the clam chowder gluten free?

No it is not

They were a little pricier compared to what I'm used to paying, but I figured it was fair because, we in Eugene do not have easy access to a lot of items that are found in our local chain grocery stores. I came across the produce section and was excited to find 2 bags of taro leaves (we call it luau leaves back home). The two packages they had, looked like it had smaller leaves than I preferred, but looked really fresh. I was planning on surprising my family by making palusami since I only had 2 bags and didn't have enough for make laulau. I had all of my ingredients laid out and ready. Imagine my surprise and disappointment when I opened the taro leaf packages and found that inside the nice and fresh leaf, were small, wilted, yellow, brown spotted, broken and ripped with holes taro leaves! These are basically the leaves that a grocery store should not be selling and instead, they decided to deceive their customer by wrapping those leaves with a nice, fresh one on the outside. I felt so disappointed in this store! I'm from the island, I know my taro leaves. If they did this purposely thinking other people will not notice, shame on the store. I know many have raved about the produce here, and I hope that this is a fluke. I will try again in a couple of weeks. If I get similar results, I will need to talk to the owner about getting a better vendor. Or i'll just order it from back home and pay that shipping charge.

This isn't the place to bring a group. Inside is tight-there are two small low tables close by together and a narrow bar at one end with maybe 5 stools. There is an outdoor seating area but it was full today. Menu is fairly small. They have fish & chips, fish sandwiches, fish/shrimp salads and 3 types of grilled fish with rice. There are a few sides. There are also daily specials. We had a salmon sandwich with a side of fries and grilled yellowtail with rice which was the special for the day. The salmon sandwich (ordered no sauce or shredded cabbage) was good but nothing special. I'm sure the cabbage and tartar sauce would have given it a bit of zip. The fries were ok. The yellowtail didn't have much flavor until you out what tasted like a light teriyaki. It had brown rice which was nice & chewy and the sauce gave it flavor. You really have to cook fish with flavors like garlic, lemon or something to give it flavor. Service was really good. They were very willing to put things on the side or remove them. I don't think I'd go back. If it's nothing special, I'm not going to pay for a meal out.
