No fancy bells, no whistle and just honest, no-frills service and fish so fresh you'd swear it still had stories to tell. I wandered in and found a small seating area tucked away, nothing flashy, just folks there for the same reason: good food. And good food it was. The fish was fresh, cooked right, and full of flavor and none of that overworked nonsense, just straight-up tasty. If you're looking for glitz, keep wandering. But if you want a solid meal that feels like it came straight off the boat, this is your spot. I'd happily cast my line here again. I am sad my daughter is graduating because I most likely won't have a chance to be back . Sad !!

My wife wanted soup or chowder so we tried Fisherman's Market in Eugene. Excellent choice! We shared a bowl of the clam chowder, a bowl of the seafood stew, and a couple pieces of fried salmon. Best decision ever. The stew was tomato based, lots of fish and just a bit of heat. The New England chowder was flavorful with lots of clams and potatoes. Salmon was equally good; the coating was light and their homemade tartar sauce very good. They offer 6 other sauces besides tarter and ketchup, which is a nice option. They have live fish and seafood, plus cases of whole crabs, fish filets and much more. Their cole slaw looked really good, but we had already eaten. Eugene is only 2 hours from home; we will be stopping there again.

This was our first time dining at Bag O Crab in Eugene. We have been to the restaurant in other…read morestates before. Although the layouts are different but the service and foods are consistent. This time I decided to order the atomic sauce in dynamite spice level. It was too spicy for my husband. I think I can definitely go even one level higher. We ordered combo #2 with shrimp heads on this time. Everything tasted great. I wish there was an option of substitution. I would rather get more corns than sausages. The sausage was really hot dogs. The potato sizes are uneven. One of the potatoes was so tiny. Potatoes and sausages are cheap. I wish they would serve more in the bag.

Lunch is a good time to go cuz they have both lunch specials (for simpler meals if not craving a boil in a bag) & happy hour specials. Likely not as busy as weekend nights too. Can attest that ordering at the "dynamite" level of spiciness could be too hot for many diners. Food was delicious and the robot server is adorably polite. Only minor complaint were the portions of the corn, potatoes & sausage (basically a few slices of hot dog). Given the prices at this seafood restaurant, and the low cost of corn, potatoes & hot dog, why not increase the size of these items?! Star lost for portion size. Place isn't fancy but staff are friendly & prompt.

This isn't the place to bring a group. Inside is tight-there are two small low tables close by together and a narrow bar at one end with maybe 5 stools. There is an outdoor seating area but it was full today. Menu is fairly small. They have fish & chips, fish sandwiches, fish/shrimp salads and 3 types of grilled fish with rice. There are a few sides. There are also daily specials. We had a salmon sandwich with a side of fries and grilled yellowtail with rice which was the special for the day. The salmon sandwich (ordered no sauce or shredded cabbage) was good but nothing special. I'm sure the cabbage and tartar sauce would have given it a bit of zip. The fries were ok. The yellowtail didn't have much flavor until you out what tasted like a light teriyaki. It had brown rice which was nice & chewy and the sauce gave it flavor. You really have to cook fish with flavors like garlic, lemon or something to give it flavor. Service was really good. They were very willing to put things on the side or remove them. I don't think I'd go back. If it's nothing special, I'm not going to pay for a meal out.

They were a little pricier compared to what I'm used to paying, but I figured it was fair because, we in Eugene do not have easy access to a lot of items that are found in our local chain grocery stores. I came across the produce section and was excited to find 2 bags of taro leaves (we call it luau leaves back home). The two packages they had, looked like it had smaller leaves than I preferred, but looked really fresh. I was planning on surprising my family by making palusami since I only had 2 bags and didn't have enough for make laulau. I had all of my ingredients laid out and ready. Imagine my surprise and disappointment when I opened the taro leaf packages and found that inside the nice and fresh leaf, were small, wilted, yellow, brown spotted, broken and ripped with holes taro leaves! These are basically the leaves that a grocery store should not be selling and instead, they decided to deceive their customer by wrapping those leaves with a nice, fresh one on the outside. I felt so disappointed in this store! I'm from the island, I know my taro leaves. If they did this purposely thinking other people will not notice, shame on the store. I know many have raved about the produce here, and I hope that this is a fluke. I will try again in a couple of weeks. If I get similar results, I will need to talk to the owner about getting a better vendor. Or i'll just order it from back home and pay that shipping charge.
