Super BUMMED... am getting married and wanted a nice place to go after the ceremony with family for dinner. Went up there to talk to someone, got a card and lost it. So I called up there and they told me the manager, Nick was sick or something and to email him. I emailed him explaining what I wanted and it took him a bit to get back to me... once he did he said the place had something going on that day - during the day and would be open at 5. I emailed him back to say that works out perfect because we needed something around 6:30 that evening. NEVER GOT BACK TO ME. SOOOOO....we had to figure something else out and PF Chang's was the one. Great food and great service! We arrived at prime dinner time on a Saturday night with a group of 10. We expected the wait to be ridiculous and at first we were greeted with looks like, "Yikes, that's going to be tough" on the hostess' faces. But we were seated right away! Danielle was our server and she was prompt, very helpful, and very friendly. Our food was delicious. I started off with a crawfish boil that had good flavor but was heavily covered in spice. My hands were a mess after but don't worry, there are sinks all over the restaurant to wash your hands. Weird, but convenient. I had the catfish atchafalaya as my entree. It came with soup or salad and I chose a cup of clam chowder. It was more chowder than clam and I only ate half of it. My entree was delicious--a large amount of crawfish in the etouffee topping and it had great creole flavor. Between that and the asparagus and baked potato sides I had to take half of it home. I can't wait to return to Fishbones soon. The atmosphere seemed fun and a great place to watch a big game. read more

Terrible is an understatement. Ordered Chicken jambalaya with sausage this evening and is was disgustingly salty. Portion was half the size of what you'd get in person. I worked in the service industry for 8 years so I know how to recognize when someone is just having a bad day, or when a bad experience may not be due to the employees themselves but multiple other circumstances. This was not the case on my visit last weekend. We were sat at 5:22pm on a Saturday, it looks about half to 3/4 full but we saw plenty of servers bustling around. Our server didn't come to our table for 10 minutes, and once she did she offered no apology on the delay. She took our drink orders and we asked her to please bring waters as well because we were parched. It took her another 10 minutes to bring the waters and the drinks while we watched a bus boy refill waters at all the tables around us. After we finally got our drinks we had now been there for over 20 minutes, and she disappeared yet again without taking our order. We couldn't even see her around the restaurant to tell her we were ready to order. We finally had someone go to the host stand to have them find her for us. Finally another 6 or so minutes go by and she comes to take our order. Once she did that she disappeared AGAIN for a long time, never came to check on our drinks or anything until she brought back a bread basket (now over 35 minutes into our visit). Finally we got some water refills, which we had to ask for twice. Then begins the longest wait for food ever. After over 25 minutes we sent someone to find a manager, we had been there just over an hour and even the soup and salads took 15 minutes to come out after ordering. A manager finally came to the table and said, "I just checked on when the order was put into the system, it's been 28 minutes which is really an average wait time for our food so I just wanted you to know that." We were hungry, thirsty, and tired of being blatantly ignored so one of my friends replied with, "I'm sorry, I didn't realize I was wrong here. We've been here over an hour and still haven't gotten our food, we thought something must have been going on." The manager then told her to stop being hostile (no joke) so she said "Thank you so much for checking on this," and he walked away without a word. After we finally got our food we tried to cancel our 2nd drink order because that was again taking over 10 minutes and we honestly just wanted to leave at that point. The food was pretty good but the service was so minimal, rude, and having the manager blatantly ignore the cardinal rule of the service industry (The customer is always right) was infuriating. If the kitchen was backed up or they were understaffed, all they would have had to do was stop by and say a quick "So sorry about this folks, we're a little backed up so be patient with us!" People eat out for a nice relaxing experience, and I've been to a million busy restaurants where the servers can handle the fast pace, or the customers are treated with basic decency when an experience is obviously not up to par. This was honestly one of the most disappointing dining experiences I have ever had, and their staff needs a serious attitude adjustment or should consider leaving the hospitality industry. read more

I went to this place on Thursday with a friend at about 9:30pm. The waiter seemed to be pleasant and took our orders within a reasonable amount of time from us being seated. But after that everything went down hill. My friend and I both ordered the gumbo to get started. While it came out fairly quick (3-5 minutes), it was horrible. Thick, cold and tasted as if it had been burned. On his next pass by the waiter asked how everything was and we told him about the gumbo and wished to send it back. His face turned red and you could just see attitude on his face immediately. As he took our bowls, he said that he would let the manager know. He came back (without the manager) and before taking our replacement order asked "Well, what was wrong with it?" Trying to clean up the question and his demeanor, he says "I just have to ask because we try not to repeat this type of stuff". The only issue was, we told him what the problem was before he took the bowls. He then said, "I know you guys were talking about sushi, but I'm not sure if they can make it depending on the time." We both looked at our watches and it was 10:40pm. The sushi bar doesn't close until 11. But the worst part was, while he was in back doing whatever- the manager came out and walked directly past us to the register to void the order without saying a word. And as bad as that was, he stared us down as he walked back towards the kitchen after he was done. Needless to say, we just completely canceled the order, paid for the two beers we halfway drank and left. I don't know if they treat all customers this way. But if you're only going to have TWO pasta dishes, why would you make them both have pesto sauce? Not everyone likes pesto and when I asked for a different sauce, the crabby waitress said they "might" be able to throw together a garlic butter sauce. Um, no thanks to someone back in the kitchen Googling garlic butter sauce and giving it a try. C'mon, Fishbones...that was NOT a good menu change. And they got rid of the chicken piccata, too. This is my preferred place to go to when I go out for the night in SCS. I enjoy the atmosphere during the summer months because of the nice big outdoor patio. There is a big mix of age groups here which I always find entertaining...from the douchey, preppy frat boys, to desperate cougars looking to pick up anyone who looks their way, I am always finding something to laugh at. I would rather not come here on a Friday night and sit inside because of the band that plays there. They play so loud you can barely hear yourself talk to your group. The food, not always amazing, is a bit pricey, which is expected. I seem to be always drawn to their spinach salad. It is probably one of my favorites. The bartenders also make strong drinks which are worth your money. read more

Not that I was expecting much since I have eaten food from the menu before from here, but I figured restaurant week Fishbones would want to show off what they have to offer. To their defense, this was our 3rd choice, the other 2 restaurants were packed so we officially settled for Fishbones, and settled we did. The food from the appetizers to the desert were not good and all tasted as if purchased from Casco, heated up and served. This review is not to take away from the fact this is the best patio in the Shores, and also the Sushi has always been good. I and my husband visited this place and after walking in the young lady at the desk informed us there would be a wait. I asked if we could sit at the bar while we wait she said yes. While we are at the bar waiting the same young lady seated another couple while we still waited and did so in our face. So I asked why was they seated before us and she stated they had a reservation. Fishbones has always had a nice environment and we have been there plenty of times for the bar but this is the first time I have eaten dinner there. Ordered the Spider Roll- Pricey $13.50 especially for a non-sushi place and lets just say that THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE EVER SPIT OUT SUSHI INTO MY NAPKIN. The deep fried crab was SO BURNT it was gross! Would have sent this back but already sent back asparagus (side dish) since it was so limp and yellow/brown- barely green. Went in for lunch, service was a tad slow, but server was super friendly! I ordered a Cobb Salad, with no Chicken or Bacon. I asked to have mushrooms and Cucumbers on the salad to replace the meat products. I was told that I would be charged extra. Charged extra, REALLY? Really, the sushi here is very subpar, which is to be expected from a restaurant that doesnt specialize in sushi. If you eat sushi often, don't bother ordering. Fishbones started out as a Cajun fish restaurant, but now has food for almost every palette. Chicken, ribs, seafood, steak, gumbo...you name it. This location has a full service bar on the patio and a lot of seating during good weather. They have live bands come up and preform on weekends. The food is slightly above average and probably marked up a bit. Don't let this discourage you. The food is still good and the menu is great for big groups that can't settle on one kind of meal. Fishbones is a restaurants that people go out together. This location is right on the water's edge and can be packed on weekends. I was on the fence if I should give three or four stars. The food was decent but not great. The seafood gumbo had a very subtle raw flour taste to it. That unique complex roux flavor that is a cornerstone of a Louisiana cooking was not fully developed. I had the nigiri. We have been here so many times that it is hard for me to write a review. In the summer we love to sit outside on the patio, as long as it isn't fishfly season. During the fall and winter we sit inside near the pool tables - for some reason that is where we always get seated. The sushi is amazing, but over priced. The kids meals are a pretty decent size and we always have leftover. The bread and garlic butter is AMAZING as well as the fries. Next main course came with 4 small red roasted potoes that were cold. Hand full of green beans that were overcooked.
