A group of 8 of us went to the Rochester Chop House for a holiday dinner. Our server (Michael, I think?) was very attentive and helpful. The service was very good. They made sure our water glasses were filled & they took away plates that were no longer being used. And they had no problem with individual checks. I ordered the delmonico steak with cherry rice pilaf. The steak was served all alone on a giant plate -- not even a sprig of parsley. It looked kind of naked. It was overly salty, and there wasn't much of "bark" or sear on it. I did take the leftovers home, rinsed off the salt and pan grilled it. I really liked the rice pilaf, though, and the bread basket selections were also very good. If I were to come back, I would order something else.

Food was excellent everything came out perfectly! Our waiter was very nice and talkative which was a plus. It was a bit loud in the dinning room during dinner service so it was a bit hard to hear at times but nothing too bad. One criticism I'll give for people with the distinguished guests card membership looking to take advantage of the free entree for your birthday offer. They will only make the cheapest entree you buy be free even if it is not the entree that was ordered by the cardholder who is celebrating their birthday. Not the end of the world but it would be nice to have that communicated upfront before you order.

Great food! We had reservations so we were seated quickly and the service was great. It was a bit crowded in there, so it was a bit difficult to hear conversations at times. As well as it was very expensive, but it is a fancy restaurant so that is to be expected.

Ambiance was amazing. Server and staff were kind and attentive. I don't know what they put in those dinner rolls but wow- incredible. Loved the braised beef ribs. Classy place.

Service was impeccable, food was delicious and correctly done. Ambiance is on the higher decibel range, but not annoying. Good energy.

We sat in the back - fine dining section. The service was great, personable, attentive just the right amount and helpful. Very classic Chop House setting, reminded me of my childhood- in all the good ways. It's a beautiful place. Food was excellent. This was one of the few times all 10 of us ordered, basically the same thing but it was worth it! Steak Friets with the steak from Snake River Farms, and Steak Delmonico. They cooked the steak in all different ways and we all received our order perfectly. Soup- delicious Salad (house and Caesar) - delicious All the sides - delicious Dessert - delicious Great wine list. Great for group, dates, special occasions or treating yourself.

The food service and ambiance are always top notch. The stuffed mushrooms are my go to for apps and the lobster tail is incredibly tender and flavorful.

we decided to go to Rochester chophouse on kind of a whim. I have been previously for a rehearsal dinner and really enjoyed it, and we wanted to try it as just the restaurant. The first thing that you notice as soon as you're sad in, the main restaurant is the old-school chophouse vibes. Carl's ChopHouse in downtown Detroit could be swapped for this restaurant. Almost piece by piece. Very old-school vibes. But it works., Our waiter was incredibly helpful and nice. Made recommendations about the menu and what we might enjoy. We started with bacon wrapped shrimp, and moved onto our main course. I had the steak frites with chimmichurri and my husband had the rib eye with zip sauce. Both were really good. I have to give the edge to the steak frites though, for my first bite, I realize that it was one of the most tender steaks I ever had. My husband agreed, and only when the waiter came back, did he mention that it was Wagyu. I never realized what a difference that made until that moment. We did end up trading meals halfway through so he could enjoy the steak. frites. overall, the meal was excellent, my only thought is that he said had he been told that my steak was waygu, he would have ordered it as well. looking forward to returning. I've heard good things. about the fish and the lamb

Totally recommend this restaurant for date night or even with kids too. I went with husband and son. My son was entertained with drawing on the brown paper cover that they put on the table. Classy enough, the restaurant only supplies black crayons. I thought it was so classy to keep the aesthetic of high end dining. We ordered beers and wine. The waiter was very knowledgeable of all menu items. We ordered the escargot. I found it refreshing that the bread basket had a variety of different style breads and they also serve you a medley of veggies in a vin-egret style dipping for the bread. We also tried the lobster bisque soup and the chowder. Both great choices. The main courses were delicious. We went for the steak and the shrimp risotto. We shared the main dishes and still had to take some home. So it's a good amount. There's a near by parking garage. Which is very convenient.

She ordered a 7 ounce filet medium rare which came out rare and needed to go back on the grill. Overall presentation was poor and the fillet was DRY! The final 'kicker' came when bill arrived and the free entree removed was my $17 California tacos! I was completely shocked and my wife asked me not to say anything to our server. As a frequent diner and supporter for over 30 years, I expect more from your establishments and quite honestly have seen the quality of food decline over the past few years. Looking forward to your response... I was going to post on Yelp but my spouse suggested I reach out to you directly. Thanks in advance for your attention to this issue. Kruse & Muers response: Hi - I'm sorry the filet was not cooked to your wife's liking the first time. Had we known the replacement was also not up to standard, we would have been happy to provide a replacement. I don't think I've ever heard of a medium rare filet being dry and will be sure to speak with our chef so that he can investigate. I encourage you to always let a server or manager know if you are unhappy at the time of service so that they can provide immediate resolution. Plate presentation on our steaks has been defined by Bill Kruse. I know for some, it can be underwhelming while others appreciate the simplicity of it. It is personal preference and we recognize that we will not be able to please everyone. As for your Distinguished Guest birthday gift, it is a Buy one, get one free offer. This means the complimentary meal may not be that which was consumed by the birthday person. This has been the case since the program was first implemented. Redemption restrictions are outlined in the terms and conditions which must be accepted before completing your membership. We try to ensure these are very clear so no one is unpleasantly surprised. I am very sorry that in your case, we missed that mark. While food costs have continued to rise, we have made it a point to not lower our quality standards or make recipe adjustments which would most certainly result in a decline. Without knowing your experiences specifically, I can only assure you that our commitment to excellence has not changed. We do appreciate you reaching out directly rather than publicly sharing. It is disheartening when a guest mentions years of wonderful meals without posting those positive experiences but are quick to post a negative one. I will be sure to share your feedback with our team. My final response back: Kelly - I appreciate the quick response, especially on a Sunday over the holidays. Quite honestly, I was hoping for a different response (we apologize for the food and confusion with the distinguished guest rules... how can we fix this problem) as you 'rationalize' each point. Going forward, I will take my dining business elsewhere as there are many options in this area and I will also share this experience/response.

We are a table of four and waitress only brought two waters. Had to ask for two more. We ordered around 730pm and my husband needed one minute, she went to the table next to us and never came back to get his order. She comes back with a salad (we never ordered a salad) but said we could have it anyway. My husband ordered and we got our soups and bread very quickly. We had to ask for the kids chocolate milks since they were never brought out. But then came the wait. Our waitress came out around 8pm and told the table next to us that "she has her prime rib (pointing at me), but we are now out so you two cannot get yours, hers was the last piece (again pointing to me)" so unprofessional to call me out as if it's my fault I ordered prime rib so they cannot. Our food did not land on our table until 840pm! When questioning the waitress and manager they both said the kitchen is backed up and that it's "the holidays". The waitress was apologetic but the manager was not. Tried to offer dessert but I said no. I said we should have been notified or asked if they can get the kids food first or something some kind of communication. I asked for our food to go. We packed it up for tomorrow since we are no longer hungry after waiting. And we had to remind the waitress for the kids ice creams too. My kids were tired and not hungry anymore and then on top of it we had some rude neighbors that were making comments the whole time after I complained directed at me. The whole experience was upsetting. The manager made us feel unheard and it felt dismissive. I'm sure the food is good but we will know tomorrow when we eat it. We have always heard great things about Golden Eagle and are so sad to not want to recommend to anyone else. Please work on communicating to your customers. If we had known how backed up the kitchen was we would have prepared ourselves or left. If we knew this was typical as your manager stated is normal during the holidays then we wouldn't have eaten here. Please do better Golden Eagle! Edit: tried food and it was great. The Brussel sprouts were a touch over for me with the meat not quite being crispy enough, but that didn't stop the rest of my table from finishing them.
