This place is amazing and it's a combination of things that make it do good. For started when you walk in there is a relaxed cave like atmosphere. It just feels cozy and familiar. My 2nd time here, for dinner on first Friday of Lent 2026. (My first experience was a funeral luncheon about 4 years ago, and the food was excellent then.) This visit, I ordered shrimp scampi with baked potato, salad and cup of clam chowder! Chowder was best I've had in years! Shrimps were very large, tender and the butter-garlic sauce was the perfect blend and consistency! Our service was excellent. My friend loved her baked lasagna. It was my birthday; Chocolate Lava birthday desert was so good and enough for 3 of us to enjoy! I truly enjoyed my dinner here and look forward to coming back! How have I lived here over 20 years and never been here? I was expecting a tacky Chinese restaurant with a big fish tank (they DO have a fish tank..). My apologies!~. I am so sad to be writing this but I think customers need to know what happened to us. 20 minute wait on a Saturday night approx. 650pm. We waited and were sat in about 20-30 minutes. We are a table of four and waitress only brought two waters. Had to ask for two more. We ordered around 730pm and my husband needed one minute, she went to the table next to us and never came back to get his order. She comes back with a salad (we never ordered a salad) but said we could have it anyway. My husband ordered and we got our soups and bread very quickly. We had to ask for the kids chocolate milks since they were never brought out. But then came the wait. Our waitress came out around 8pm and told the table next to us that "she has her prime rib (pointing at me), but we are now out so you two cannot get yours, hers was the last piece (again pointing to me)" so unprofessional to call me out as if it's my fault I ordered prime rib so they cannot. Our food did not land on our table until 840pm! When questioning the waitress and manager they both said the kitchen is backed up and that it's "the holidays". The waitress was apologetic but the manager was not. Tried to offer dessert but I said no. I said we should have been notified or asked if they can get the kids food first or something some kind of communication. I asked for our food to go. We packed it up for tomorrow since we are no longer hungry after waiting. And we had to remind the waitress for the kids ice creams too. My kids were tired and not hungry anymore and then on top of it we had some rude neighbors that were making comments the whole time after I complained directed at me. The whole experience was upsetting. The manager made us feel unheard and it felt dismissive. I'm sure the food is good but we will know tomorrow when we eat it. We have always heard great things about Golden Eagle and are so sad to not want to recommend to anyone else. Please work on communicating to your customers. If we had known how backed up the kitchen was we would have prepared ourselves or left. If we knew this was typical as your manager stated is normal during the holidays then we wouldn't have eaten here. Please do better Golden Eagle! Edit: tried food and it was great. What a great experience! Anthony was such a perfect and pleasant server. You need to try their Roquefort dressing, Mario zip sauce, shrimp scampi and top it off with the fresh creme brûlée. Okay so I wanted to try this place and upon showing up the place has the sign of a Chinese big red sign very dark. Still decided to go in . We ordered a Stella's and they gave it to us in a tiki cup (it was margarita day) as soon as the waitress brought it I smelt tequila. Upon tasting it was not the taste of Stella at all and was very sweet tasting just like tequila. The waitress kindly gave us a new one and unfortunately the steallas then was warm.... The filet was super yummy but they gave me beef gravy on the side. Staff was nice and friendly and the place was clean. The Caesar salad was not tasty and lettuce was slightly wilted. read more

Great tasting steak and the Mario sauce was an excellent compliment. I ordered the NY strip which was a nice size, 12 oz, and was fantastic- great charbroiled taste, juicy and cooked perfectly to the doneness I ordered. Creamy tomato basil soup was a bit salty and taste was a bit off to me, but other than that everything else was good. I also want to point out the fresh warm rolls, they were reminiscent of the bread from Joe Muers' restaurants without the buttery mess. Our server Susan was attentive and friendly, offered up great suggestions, very informative and accommodated our requests. The place itself has a warm, old style, loungy vibe with a lot of table and booth seating. We had a very comfortable feeling as soon as we walked in and throughout the dinner. Wonderful atmosphere with very pleasant table service. I was not pleased with the food. I started to eat my entree and felt sick. So, I stopped eating it and brought it home to feed my dog. You'll find this restaurant in a plaza-completely unexpected. We heard about it through some of my friends coworkers as we were searching for good steak and wanted to try something new. This isn't your typical stuffy steak house--it's VERY local, with a very mature crowd. We both wanted the ribeye but we found out that it is a special only offered on Saturdays (and Wednesday's I think). So we both ordered the NY strip steak. It's a decent size steak prepared well and tasty but for me the most delicious part was the sauce that comes with it...This was a unique sauce and it was very tasty! It's like butter mixed with zing...YUM! I could have eaten anything with that sauce. I'm not a huge bread person, and this was ok+ bread. My husband and I are your typical well traveled amateur foodies. We've been to fancy, trendy places in Chicago, New York and beyond and we are obsessed with Golden Eagle. It's not "trendy" but the food is so good. We've literally never had a bad meal there. Bread is amazing. Peanut butter pie is epic. It's my favorite place to eat in Rochester Hills. It's so nice to have a casual come as you are place with great food just around the corner. The staff is super nice and so good to our buttered noodles, bread and fish tank loving daughter.
