The morel toast was served on sourdough with morel mushrooms, goat cheese, leeks, arugula, and a bit too much balsamic.
Clark B.

Chomp has been a favorite of my vegetarian daughter but I had never been there. She and I and my son decided to try it. It was seemingly pretty busy for a between lunch and dinner time. The lad had the kids meal with chicken fingers, fries and drink which all tasted fine but not extraordinary. My daughter had the (fake) chikn schwarma which looked good and she reported was very good. I had the morel toast special which had morels, arugula, goat cheese, leeks and a bit of an overload of balsamic dressing. I don't recall if the menu listed that but it was a little too much. They brought the kids meal out quick, but our meals took much longer. While appreciated it was also a little unusual. Other than a longer than expected wait, everything was great.

Short rib grilled cheese

I've been coming here for years with my family and it is always so good! It's on the corner of Main St downtown Rochester and it's always my first stop when I'm in the area. I love coming here during the holidays and seeing the lights. They recently expanded the space so there is plenty more seating in the back. The food is delicious and so fresh. No matter what I order, it's always light and clean. This time, I got the wild salmon farro bowl which was a great blend of flavors especially with the butternut squash, Brussel sprouts and feta. We split the onion petals which were nice and crispy. My sister and mom tried the short rib grilled cheese and chicken tinga bowl and also loved the flavors of their meals. The staff is always friendly and meals are served pretty quickly too. Overall I love Chomp and look forward to coming here. Highly recommend!

Blue Raz Smoothie

Lot of interesting options in menu including vegan choices, lovely sitting inside and on the patio and friendly staff. The place is a lot larger than it looks from the outside. there is very limited restaurant parking but a paid ( by the hour) parking lot right across the back entrance/patio. We loved everything we ordered - vegan BanhMi ,chicken and waffles, truffle fries and the blue Raz smoothie. Food is delivered in to go boxes on the patio. We immediately delved into it so it was still hot and crispy for us though.

We love Chomp! We are here once a week. Service is friendly and SUPER fast. With little kids, it is great, because they get fed quickly. Food is wonderful. I personally almost always order off of the specials list (butternut squash grilled cheese is killer right now) and am rarely disappointed. The amount of food is a lot too! I usually get two meals out of one. Smoothies and juices are great too as are the vegan options. Definitely recommend!

Best Vegan Sandwiches for 100 miles! Pick up extra to go if you're heading up north, because good luck finding vegan sandwiches like this! Ordered the Vegan Ruben and Vegan Philly to go. Had an issue checking out online, but thankfully the phone number here on Yelp meant I could call an order in and someone answered the phone immediately. Parked in the back and it was quick to check out inside with a credit card. The sandwiches were hot and ready in 10min and stayed warm in the packaging for another 15min to our picnic destination. Flavors were on point for both sandwiches if you're vegan for health reasons and miss those meaty flavors and textures! Second day update... they were great as cold leftovers too!

Bacon cheeseburger on gluten-free bun and a pickle spear.
Tara R.

I've been craving a cheeseburger for well over a week now, and I figured I'd give Chomp a try. They offer gluten-free buns for $2.75 up-charge. This place is on the corner of the main street that seems to be a somewhat high traffic area, both of the car and pedestrian kind. You order at the counter and then are given a number, and then you can find a seat at any table you like. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger on a gluten-free bun, which came to $17.75. While it looked delicious, the burger lacked flavor and/or seasoning. The bun held up rather well for being gluten-free, and it was delicious. The bacon was also delicious. However, like I'd previously mentioned, the burger patty itself left a lot to be desired. About 2/3 of the way thru, I removed the patty altogether and ate the bun/tomato/bacon by itself. My husband ordered a chicken wrap of some sort. He mentioned it was also under seasoned and lacked much flavor. While they use high-end ingredients, they miss the mark on seasoning. Neither of us would choose to eat here again.

Wild mushroom and Brie quesadillas (added chicken) 4/5 Roasted veggie soup 3/5 Brussels sprouts 1/5 Salmon blt 2/5 I was pretty happy with my quesadilla, I love mushrooms and they let me add chicken so that was a plus for me. I didn't get much onion or spinach but it was still solid. The fire roasted veggie soup was just ok. It's $7 for a cup, not a bowl, and there weren't really any vegetables inside. Maybe it was all blended, not sure. My wife got the salmon blt and we shared some Brussels sprouts. The sprouts were mushy, not the least bit crunchy and it was neither salted nor sweetened properly. So it was just a mushy mistake. The salmon blt had less than a teaspoon of this sriracha mayo so it was just a dry sandwich. The salmon was not seasoned in the least bit. Ya gotta add salt to fish. It's a pretty expensive meal so I would've hoped for a bit more when it came to taste. I'm sure it's all locally grown, farm to table with wild caught salmon from the Clinton river but it's not a place I wouldn't put it in my rotation. They were very busy but the staff took all the orders in a timely manner and were very nice. And the spot itself is awesome, especially during the nicer time of the year because you can sit outside and people watch.

First time at chomp and it didn't disappoint! The chicken tortilla soup was perfect, the sandwiches were huge and delicious. I highly recommend going.

The next thing you notice as you round the corner and see that there's much more of the restaurant, is the smell of pine. Every surface - walls, floor, and ceiling - is made of pristine planks of pine. I feel like I've been camping, and I found an amazing spot among the pines. I ordered a cup of clam chowder. $8 seems like a bit much for a small cup at first, until you take your first taste. There's so much savory clam coming through with every spoonful. I took my time finishing the cup. My wife ordered the salmon salad, which also seemed to have a smallish portion, but which made up for it with quality. That seems to be the theme here. I'm glad I had heard about this one before, otherwise I would never have thought to order the knuckle sandwich. It's nothing at all like what the name suggests (I.e. large amounts of ham and steak); it's actually lobster. No: actual lobster. Not that imposter they serve at some places. It's like a lobster roll on a buttery grilled cheese sandwich. I wanted the experience to last with this amazing sandwich. I can't wait until I get to enjoy another amazing meal with the smell of pine in the air.

Service : they always have nice waitstaff. It does get busy on party evenings during the weekends but the staff is very friendly and do the best they can. I don't think we ever waited "too long" for food or drinks to come out. Ambiance : family friendly I'd say before 8 any day , and good for girls night out or date on Friday and Saturday's in my opinion for a fun night . Bar: great bar selection . TVs all around. Our food ended up taking forever to come out so we were rushed to hurry up and eat and leave when it came out. For appetizers we got the chips and dip and salads. The dip had a long piece of hair in it and we immediately sent it back and the waiter looked at us like we were crazy for not wanting it. The salads were pretty good - big portion with lots of fresh toppings and dressing. For entrees we got the buffalo chicken sandwiches and the grilled chicken plate. My mom asked for no buffalo and it came with buffalo on it so she didn't love it. Mine on the other hand was pretty average. It was a large portion and had a good amount of toppings on it that altogether was very flavorful. I did ask for ranch on the side when i ordered and it took awhile for it to come out. The chicken plate was just about the only good dish we had. It came with a good spread of well prepared food and was a healthy option on the menu. The worst part of this experience was when we asked for bags for left overs the waiter told us to go get it ourselves so we had to awkwardly go behind the bar to grab it. Overall the service was terrible- everyone was rude. The food was slightly above average but with the hair in it and messing up our orders i would not recommend. Even though this is in prime location there are so many better options in the area. I could see this place having potential for coming for drinks with all the tvs or on the rooftop in the summer but thats about it.

I am so sad to be writing this but I think customers need to know what happened to us…read more 20 minute wait on a Saturday night approx. 650pm. We waited and were sat in about 20-30 minutes. We are a table of four and waitress only brought two waters. Had to ask for two more. We ordered around 730pm and my husband needed one minute, she went to the table next to us and never came back to get his order. She comes back with a salad (we never ordered a salad) but said we could have it anyway. My husband ordered and we got our soups and bread very quickly. We had to ask for the kids chocolate milks since they were never brought out. But then came the wait. Our waitress came out around 8pm and told the table next to us that "she has her prime rib (pointing at me), but we are now out so you two cannot get yours, hers was the last piece (again pointing to me)" so unprofessional to call me out as if it's my fault I ordered prime rib so they cannot. Our food did not land on our table until 840pm! When questioning the waitress and manager they both said the kitchen is backed up and that it's "the holidays". The waitress was apologetic but the manager was not. Tried to offer dessert but I said no. I said we should have been notified or asked if they can get the kids food first or something some kind of communication. I asked for our food to go. We packed it up for tomorrow since we are no longer hungry after waiting. And we had to remind the waitress for the kids ice creams too. My kids were tired and not hungry anymore and then on top of it we had some rude neighbors that were making comments the whole time after I complained directed at me. The whole experience was upsetting. The manager made us feel unheard and it felt dismissive. I'm sure the food is good but we will know tomorrow when we eat it. We have always heard great things about Golden Eagle and are so sad to not want to recommend to anyone else. Please work on communicating to your customers. If we had known how backed up the kitchen was we would have prepared ourselves or left. If we knew this was typical as your manager stated is normal during the holidays then we wouldn't have eaten here. Please do better Golden Eagle! Edit: tried food and it was great. I think the main issue is service here so I am changing my stars to 3 stars instead of 1.
