They then brought a dog out and said "here he is." It was NOT our dog. We finally get him back and his face did not look like it was cut at all, even though we told him to do his face very short. We got him home and he drank water like he had been deprived of it all day. If you had a 0 star that is what we would choose. We will never go back there.

I have taken several animals to Dr. Kendig, with each one he made me feel like I was a bad pet…read moreowner. I was a vet tech for over 10 years and know when my animals need care. The fact I was bringing them in shows I love them and take care of them.I even had a dog I bred brought in to see how many puppies she had, we argued about the total he said I was wrong and he was the vet. When they were born I was right, he couldn't even read the X-ray correctly. I did stop going to him after the last berating when my cat had an abscess. But my last experience takes the cake. I have a very fragile breed of cat that does not handle vaccinations well. And has a grade 5 heart murmur. He went in for an emergency visit for an eye issue. I told them at the beginning I did not want a rabies vaccine if that was not OK to let me know immediately. 6.5 hours later I get a call saying they can't examine him because he doesn't have a rabies vaccination and that it's Utah law. It is absolutely not law but their own policy(it is law to get them licensed to have the vaccine but not examined by a vet), the cat has seen three other vets including a neuter with no issue at all. They forced me to get the rabies vaccine or take him somewhere else but because it was an emergency situation and they waited six hours I chose to get the vaccine to save his eye. I only went to him because I was told by the eye center in SL that he works closely with, that he could take care of him. Oddly enough my cat had been to that clinic in the past and didn't need the vaccine there. After telling me, the vet couldn't touch him until he was vaccinated, they called me back and told me he did great in the exam and now they're going to give him the vaccine with Benadryl. When I asked I thought he couldn't touch him without the vaccine. they didn't know what to say. They clearly just want to add to your already high bill and do not care for you or your pet. Upon picking him up and being told there was nothing he could do for him I was informed to take him to the clinic that referred him to me!! After bringing him home I noticed the stain they put in his eye looked like it was PUT IN THE WRONG EYE!!! I strongly advise not going to this vet!! There are many other wonderful caring vets out there, if he's easy to get into there is a reason.

After 5+ years of receiving service at Alpine Animal Hospital, I no longer trust Dr. Kendig or his…read moreadvice as a professional. I brought my 10 year old Yorkie, Lola, in to be seen for an unknown leg injury. Requested we have X-rays taken and was met with requests to fulfill vaccinations and have her teeth cleaned. I am aware of my dog's dental history, continually monitor her and at this time, could only afford to address the issue with her leg. After having Lola fast for sedation for the X-rays, I was informed they did light sedation, suspected an issue that would need to be referred on for surgery but they were saving me money for her to come back for a full sedated dental cleaning ranging at $1,200+. I argued back to the technician that her teeth were not my priority at this time and that I needed confirmation on her leg. She pressed that Dr Kendig wanted an antibiotic started for Lola's teeth and to think of scheduling a dental cleaning in the near future. Reluctantly, I agreed due to the amount of guilt tripping and supposed urgency from the technician. Please note, I have three children with needs and have to budget our lives. Fast forward to a week later, Lola started to decline food Saturday, became lethargic and vomiting Sunday and Monday presented with bloody stool and vomiting bile. I promptly called the Dr Kendig's office and they saw her right away. I finally received a call at 4:50pm saying Dr Kendig prescribed her too much of the antibiotic for her teeth but she should be fine if we switch to a new medication. I write my revised review days later due to the emotional toll this took on my children and I. I wanted to understand why after a $300+ visit from before my issue was not addressed, now after a $530 carpet cleaning bill, additional $309 emergency office visit - why we couldn't have just kept to my original inquiry. We could have avoided so much stress for everyone. I just wanted to be heard and was met with a pernicious medical assistant who my son and I heard making fun of me and exasperatedly speaking to Dr Kendig about how annoyed she was that I wanted to speak to him and not take her attempt to placate my concerns. She crossed her arms, rolled her eyes and reluctantly said she would get Dr Kendig to speak with me. It was one of the most unprofessional situations I have been in. I mentioned that we could hear the interaction and that his employee had a crap attitude. Dr Kendig started by telling me my dog had "40 rotting teeth in her head" and asked if I knew how it felt to have a toothache. He proceeded to question my intellect and moral standards towards my dog's pain. I said I understood where her teeth were and this additional $1,200 he was quoting me for her teeth cleaning was just not a financial option at this time. He ended with saying, "Why did you accept the treatment?". He was rude, condescending and it turned into battling his frail ego. It's evident that he sits and police's people's reviews each day to defend his actions. He is hurting people and their animals. After speaking to others, his reputation proceeds. * Following up - I have been reimbursed for the follow up medication and dog food Dr Kendig prescribed since Lola is now under new care and her original issue has been fixed. Her leg was just displaced from the socket and is doing well. Note - your office had a dental cancelation and called me for the dental appt of which I called back and canceled due to funding. But, again, your textbook gaslighting is another reason why your business is not worth going to. I will happily take my business elsewhere.

I have one dog with profound food sensitivities and one with a food allergy (you don't want to know…read morewhat happens when she eats corn or cooked potatoes). I was busting my butt chopping and cooking enough vegetables to keep up with their needs, since I also have to cook meat to go along with the vegetables. Exhausting. I happened to be driving through Sandy, Utah and got behind a car with Bingo's Bounty's logo on it and mentioning its freeze-dried vegetables option for pets. Went on the website, calculated out the cost versus buying fresh, and seriously, it's not that much different. Plus, I get the convenience of preparing it whenever I need to, without having to make a store run. I'm on my second big bag of Bingo's Bounty, and even the ridiculously picky dog will eat it--grudgingly, but she'll eat it, which is really something. Even on the fresh veg, she'd stop eating if I fed it to her more than once or twice. She went all last week on Bingo's Bounty and meat alone, no problem. The other dog absolutely INHALES it. The profoundly food-sensitive dog, who we recently rescued and who came to us with staph infections due to itching from her food, is doing SO much better. Her eyes are clear again (used to be red and bloodshot, with scabs all around them from scratching), her neck is clearing up (used to be all raw flesh), and the patch on her back is closing up and shrinking. Their shipping is OUTRAGEOUSLY fast, too. I live in Utah but not too near Sandy, and if I order on a Monday, my order is always here by Tuesday. Amazing. They've got my business for as long as these dogs will keep eating it--but at this rate, that will be for years to come. Hooray!
