We had the best experience today. We came in for dog food but had been considering getting a beta fish and wanted to ask a few questions while we were there. An employee that went by "Smoot" (if I remember correctly) helped us out and was extremely knowledgeable about all fish and betas specifically. We were so excited after talking with her that we decided to just go ahead and purchase one today. She helped us pick out the tank, food, accessories and all the odds and ends we needed. She was so great and our beta seems so happy in her new home. Thank you so much Smoot. We really appreciated all the help! read more

DO NOT GO HERE. UNPROFESSIONAL LAZY GROOMERS. Recently, I had the unfortunate experience of visiting the dog grooming services at PetSmart, and it's safe to say I'm far from impressed. I took my golden doodle in for what I anticipated would be a smooth and efficient grooming process, only to be met with a level of service that was nothing short of disappointing. To begin with, I was forced to book an appointment months in advance, an inconvenience in itself. But the real kicker was the lack of professionalism and expertise shown by the grooming staff. Upon arrival, I was promptly informed that they could not groom my dog due to his ears being "too matted". As a responsible pet owner, I take the hygiene and wellbeing of my pet seriously and I can assure you, his ears were not even close to a problematic state. This incident not only raises questions about the supposed expertise of the PetSmart grooming team but also their readiness to decline a service on such flimsy grounds. Their alternatives were not even to groom him around the ears but for us to simply go to a different groomer. I know doodles have a bad reputation in the grooming community but PetSmart is filled with lazy dishonest workers. If they aren't confident in grooming my dogs well kept ears then I definitely shouldn't trust them with the rest of him. On top of all this when the booking was made online they never once warned or cautioned that this could be a problem. They need to have something in place so you don't take the morning off work for a pointless appointment made months in advance. If I could leave 0 stars I would. Disgusting experience. In essence, I wasted precious time and resources to meet a non-existent level of service. I strongly advise potential customers to reconsider before booking any grooming services at this PetSmart. Your furry friends deserve better attention, care, and expertise than what is provided here. read more

That was such a wonderful place to find so many excellent items. Fantastic variety of food for animals and is a great place to take a family. It's a clean, spacious atmosphere fit for anyone. The lines inside move rather quickly. Ordering online is very intuitive For about any product. They are never out of food that I need to pick up for my dog. Have excellent quality Toys for my dog--an incredible selection of clothes for Ewok at reasonable prices. I have saved a lot of money coming to Petsmart for years and plan to be an ongoing customer. I will keep visiting this place because the staff gives excellent customer service. I have never had a bad experience coming here. Great views Outside of the distant mountains. Lots of other businesses in the area to visit. Lots of young families seem to go here. The staff at the counter are always so pleasant. read more

This is like pretty much any other Petsmart, though it's particularly large and high-ceilinged, and I suppose newer than some I frequent more often. I do not like the location simply because it's so dang congested, but there's not much you can do about that. One place where they differentiate themselves are the aquarium supplies and livestock, which are much larger and varied than my local store. They have a better selection of tank and stand sets, particularly those on the larger end, as well as some cool decorations. Their bettas must number at least 100, and the section of freshwater fish in general seemed to offer more variety. We waited a long time for an employee to come assist us, until I finally just tracked one down myself who, to her credit, immediately stopped what she was doing and fetched our livestock (25 ghost shrimp-lol). At a Saturday around lunchtime they were busy with just two registers open and about 5 or 6 customers in each line. Always been bringing both my dogs here for a long time to get groomed without a single issue. For whatever reason, unknown to me to this day, one of my dogs growled at a groomer and was "aggressive". He was officially "black listed" and they refused to take him. I was able to book him once more, and as soon as I showed up for my 8AM appointment, they refused to take him. The girl checking me in said "I see a lot of notes here showing he's very aggressive, I'm the one who's supposed to groom him and I DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE AT ALL". I offered an alternative to buy a muzzle and muzzle him up (I don't even own a muzzle and he's never bit anyone) to which she agreed and then another two ladies came from the back and one said "OH YA THIS IS THE DOG I TOLD YOU ABOUT" and then I repeated the muzzle thing to which she said "we have some here, however we will not take him." As she was talking, the other lady put her hand over my dog head and tried petting him, (pretty sure you're not supposed to try to pet dogs like that?) my dog wasn't comfortable and I could tell, but he allowed her to do so and he still let out a small growl. At which point they all freaked out and started saying "no no no no, see I told you! Ya, you can just take him to the self service dog grooming by the car wash blah blah blah" as she was talking I proceeded to walk out with my dog. This is what you do for work, not ALL animals are the same, and the worst part, they can sense when you as the groomer have a bad/negative vibe which makes the animal stressed, scared and threatened. This place has ZERO training to their groomers, both as groomers and customer service and professionalism. And I can tell these groomers are NOT animal people. I'm disappointed this happened. Whatever happened seems to have scarred my dog, y'all will NEVER have my service again. read more

Went here to get our dogs cut, worst cut ever. Looks like she didn't even touch the right ear, as it is at least an inch longer than the other. Located off University Parkway in Orem, this Petsmart store has a large selection of food, clothing, toys, and other items for all your pets. On a day-to-day basis they have many varieties of fish, rodents (like gerbils and mice), some reptiles (snakes and lizards), and a few cats. On weekends they have a local shelter bring in large dogs that can be adopted. Staff is friendly and helpful when asked. Store is clean and well-organized. Because of a dog class and the adoptable dogs it was a little nosy, but hey it's a pet store right? read more

My experiences here have been limited, yet positive compared to others. I cannot speak for the vet or grooming services, but only the retail experience. Most recently, the employees have been very helpful both over the phone and in-person. One thing that I've been really satisfied about is the selection of dog food. Our puppy is very picky. We were told that if our puppy doesn't like the food, we could bring the bag back for an exchange, which we greatly appreciate. Some of the other products there are way overpriced. read more

Since deciding to switch my dogs food from a prescription, which is way overprice I went in to pick up some of the same brand but non-prescription rated. It's about half the price. They didn't quite have exactly what I needed because I needed to stick with a salmon based food source on that brand. I was able to find some of that in the soft food, so I'm going to start with that for the transition and see how my dog handles it. They do over a large selection of dog food along with treats and hygiene products. They were busy enough that it's took a few minutes to check out with three cashiers. read more

This PetSmart location has been reliable in its fish selection and has regular deals for anything fish related. I go to PetSmart at least twice a month for feeder fish and other supplies. I do have a concern about the inconsistency of their fish care. They'll have fish tanks that will have several fish dead (floating or on the bottom of the tank). During my most recent trip, I pointed out a tank to an associate which had several fish on the bottom. She didn't seem surprised and cleaned most of the dead fish out. Overall, decent prices. Just be sure to examine the health of an animal before buying. read more

My dog was in the grooming salon at approximately 7pm. She became ill, diarrhea. A vet was in the building, despite the clinic being closed. He examined my dog, recommended my dog see a vet immediately and then went home. Leaving me trying find vet care for my dog after hours. This was unacceptable behavior. My wife made an appointment for one of our dogs to be groomed. She made it online with their package price that included a long list of things they are supposed to offer. So they don't unless you pay more. The manager reached out in order to convey that he was sorry about the misinformation and offered free grooming for another one of our dogs. This wasn't the reason we complained we simply wanted the website to accurately reflect the services. But when we show up the manager isn't their (sick apparently) but even though they verified the offer they decided if he wasn't there to do the work they weren't going to. ONCE AGAIN the right-hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing and then to beat all one of the employees leaves the grooming area and says "they didn't pay the first time". Did pay apparently the groomer is not as smart as my dog, paid the package price of $55 for just a cut. This kind of under breath dissing on me was absolutely uncalled for and I will never go back!! Strongly recommend finding another PetSmart if you are a committed member because if the grooming staff of this one treats me this way how do they treat dogs when you aren't looking??????????? read more

Really standoffish people that probably like animals too much and humans too little. At the register I asked a REALLY dumb question I guess. I asked, "if this product doesn't work, isn't this a money-back guarantee?" She laughed and said no as if I was stupid (after I checked out I looked at the bottle and it literally says, "100% money-back guarantee." haha. Then I tried to get the attention of another employee (she was walking fast to get some other thing done) but I said, "excuse me" and she just walked passed me, turned to help the other person, and looked at me all weird - then looked away without even a simple, "sorry I'll be right with you" It was weird and awkward. read more

This is a mediocre pet supply store. The layout is weird and seems to be not a great use of the available space. There is a decent selection, that's decent - not great. For a big box style store I'd expect more. They probably have what you need but not a lot of it and not a lot of variety in brands. BUT from what I understand about reptile care, there is a pretty solid selection of lizard/snake stuff. The grooming is very disappointing, I'd rate it somewhere between "okay, I guess" and "full on shitty". They are very concerned with getting animals in and out quickly and apparently not terribly concerned with doing a good job. Sometimes they're not even concerned with doing what you asked them to do. And, though I didn't personally have this experience, I know someone that claims to have had her dog come back from their grooming services injured. They host pet adoptions there almost every weekend and you can go help out by offering to walk the dogs so they're not as hyper which is usually fun and a good cause. (Support your local pet adoptions!) I haven't done the obedience training so I can't speak to that but I'll update this review if I ever do. read more

I only created this yelp account to review this Petsmart. I actually really love this store. The employees are nice, the selection is great, the prices are affordable. But the grooming is awful. The people at the grooming salon are rude and arrogant and they do not treat the animals with care. "Bob" is the worst. The place is tiny and I had the worst feeling when I walked in there. I took my dog in to get groomed a few weeks ago and called ahead to get an appointment and see if they could tell me pricing over the phone. I understand it's hard to give an accurate price without seeing the dog but she said generally for small dogs it's around $80. That was the first thing that was wrong. It wasn't $80, it was $145 which was ridiculous. And it's not as if my dog was matted or uncooperative or anything. When I arrived to my appointment (10:00AM) the woman at the front desk didn't even acknowledge or look at me until I asked if they were open (because she didn't greet me so I wondered if I mixed up the days) and this woman sighed as if I was the biggest inconvenience of her day. Then "Bob" (if that's his real name; bigger man with gray hair) came up and handed me a binder of what I thought were carpet samples. There were little strips of faux fur in it that were all identical and not labeled. I expected him to explain what it was he wanted me to with the binder but instead he said "well are you going to pick one or not?" I didn't even know what the difference between them were! They were all the exact same! Once we got that out of the way, I went to give my dog to him and he grabbed her. In a very rough way. She's a 6lb dog and I was nervous he was going to break her with how roughly he grabbed her. I also told them that she's a very nervous dog especially when I'm not around. She won't bite, but she shakes and cries. And "Bob" said, without looking at me and while staring at the computer screen, "mhm." Now I don't know if they do anything different with nervous animals but she gets so nervous that I felt the need to warn them but they didn't care. I asked how long it would be (a nail trim, ear cleaning, bath, and haircut for a 6lb dog) and they told me it would be 1-2 hours. I decided to shop around the store a bit, make sure she was ok, run my errands and then come back. And "Bob" was incredibly rough with her! I understand you might have to be firm with the dogs that are uncooperative but he was down right mean. It was causing her to shake and jump and he finally unclipped her from the table, roughly grabbed her, and stormed off into the back room. And to top it off, my dog was there for a whopping 5 hours!! I must have called 3 times, nervous as hell that something happened to her. After the 3rd time I called "Bob" said, "We'll call you when she's done." And when they called to tell me she was ready he said, "Your dog is ready." And hung up on me. And I don't know what they did to her but her hair was not how I wanted and it was uneven all over body, her nails weren't clipped right (they were sharp and jagged), and she was absolutely traumatized. When "Bob" went to go get her he opened the crate door and was doing something to her for about 5 minutes! Just standing there! And I couldn't see her or see what he was doing because the back door had closed so all I saw was his head! One of the groomers (short haired girl, very nice and very friendly) finally said, "What is he doing? I'll go see." He brought my dog to me and handed me a pamphlet detailing what they did and any issues they found. And he says to me, "Your dog is way too nervous, you should have warned us about how anxious she is." And I did not have the patience to tell him I did. All I wanted was to take my traumatized puppy away from there. Then he followed up with, "She was most nervous when the clippers were close to her face. You should work on that at home." How in the hell do I "work on that" at home?! It was a horrible experience, "Bob" made it horrible, that man should not be around animals. He's mean to the customers and the animals. All the staff (except for that short haired girl) are so rude and have zero customer service skills. My advice would be to drive a little farther to Taylorsville and go to that Petsmart groomer. The girls are so friendly, the place is 5x the size of the Orem grooming salon, and the girls there will actually let you stay with your pet while they groom them to keep them calm. NEVER will I take my dog back to the Orem Petsmart grooming salon. read more

Very helpful, knowledgeable associates at this location. They were helpful with our rescue dog. He's a senior and they guided us towards nutrition for older dogs. I returned an item we accidentally bought double of. The employee gave me a rough time about returning it. She made a huge deal about it being charged back to my card. The return never processed and my bank said it's not pending. I called the Orem store to ask about it and the employee gave me attitude. She told me "I work here I know how it works, it takes weeks and weeks to process." After I asked to talk to a manager about it she said, "is that what you really really want to do? Okay fine." And put me on hold. After 6 minutes I call back and she answers signs and hangs up on me. I contacted corporate. I won't be going back, I'm pretty sure she pocketed the cash and never put it in my account. We are now escalating this issue. Don't go here. I took my poodle in to get groomed. First, all of the women in the grooming department were rude, cold, short with answers, and very unhelpful. After I dropped off my dog, I received a voicemail a couple of hours later which said, "Your dog is done." And then they hung up. Zero customer service but I was still trying to keep an open mind. Then I saw my dog. She looked awful, and was completely traumatized. They brushed her curly hair completely, which I told them not to do, and his caused her to look like a giant ball of fluff. What angers me the most, is that they didn't even cut her fur because she was "too nervous" but they somehow managed to shave her entire face. So I basically paid $30 to have them give my dog a bath. Horrible customer service, horrible stylists, and horrible pet care. I will never be returning. read more

Absolutely the worst pet care I have ever had. They don't care about your pets. I called a half hour before close and they wouldn't help me. I have been waiting for our pet plans to get over with so I can not have to give anymore money to those con artists. The doctor is demeaning also. Petsmart is my go-to place when it comes to fish. This location carries a huge variety of fish and usually they have quarterly sale on a few species if you happen to have a petsmart card. Last season they had guppies on sale at $1 a pop. This season they have tetras on sale, also $1 a pop (60% off). Their fish are generally very healthy and I never had any of them go sick. Their pet supplies are quite expensive though. I've noticed some large cat food bags @ at least 30% mark up comparing to the walmart down the street. Their customer service had been quite stellar except for my last visit a week ago. I went there wanting to pick out a couple new fish for my tank and spent a good half an hour choosing which ones I wanted. The lady working at the fish section that evening was not the nicest. She never asked me if I needed any help, even when it was just me there. She did ask everyone else who was there though, ironically. I asked her to help me and she gave me the poker face. She asked me how many fish I already have and suggested that I have enough fish in my tank already. I told her yeah i know but it's a planted tank so there is a lot of hiding space for the bottom feeders and the tetras there shouldn't be an aggression problem (as there still isn't, even with the addition of the fish I bought that day) and she was rather annoyed that I insisted on getting the fish. Weird. Overall, if their prices weren't so high I would gladly hand them another star. read more

Pet'Smart is pretty standard they have a wide selection of supplies including; Food, Bedding, Toys, Grooming ect. The staff has always been very helpful and friendly. Every pet I get is healthy, and happy. The associates are always kind to me and are gentle when giving me my new pet. Some associates know more than me but, most time I no more than them. I also love how they have a good website, because sometimes I don't have time to go to the store so I just order the stuff I need. Petsmart is constantly getting a bad rap, when honestly they are amazing, unlike Jay's Jungle. Jay's Jungle is not the place to get pets. Okay so I got hired here about a month ago, and the moment I walked in I knew there would be problems, even the hiring manager warned me about certain people there, determined and excited about the job I ignored it and continued. Well these girls she warned me about in the grooming salon do nothing but complain, gossip, and lie. We got a new manager a week ago who doesn't know anything about this particular store, he was extremely arrogant and stuck on himself and these girls who are in a clique made up a bunch of stuff and got me in trouble for things I didn't even do. I had been nothing but miserable working with the employees in the grooming salon, and it was an extremely toxic work environment. Loved the job, hated the people. The manager naturally just as arrogant as he was was taunting me during our talk and telling me all this stuff they made up that he believes just simply because they had worked there longer and wanted me to retake all my splash at a different store because he assumed certain things about me thinking he knew who I was, but I had just had it, it finally made me say screw it and I upped and left. This is a very very poor work environment. If you work here, DO NOT work in the salon. Work on the floor, the floor workers and managers are wonderful. I will definitely be complaining to corporate about this. Both the salon workers and the new managers are extremely unprofessional. Also every single animal I have bought from them, being 7 birds and 2 guinea pigs have all come sick and needed veterinarian care asap. read more

Worst customer service we've ever received. My wife and I went in to have our 4 month old puppy groomed for the first time. We're first time dog owners and in a rush, forgot to bring his papers. When we got there we showed them his rabies tag and apologized and said if it's a big deal we can reschedule. One of the employees was extremely rude and made us feel horrible for forgetting his papers. She just wouldn't stop making us feel dumb and kept telling us that it's against the law and that we should know better. Another employee stepped in and said they could ask a manager and the first employee snapped at her saying they didn't need a manager and that she could handle it. DOG TRAINING CLASSES ARE A JOKE!!! They've got a tiny little "box" area that they put you in, along with 10 other dogs ranging in age, size, temperment, & ability. So not only do they have 10 dogs in there they've got anywhere from 10-20+ people in the tiny area, including small children running around screaming or laying in the middle of the floor or going up to dogs that may or may not be used to small children. Then there's the trainer, who claims to train hunting dogs & train dogs for professional dog shows (I'm not sure if he really does or has, but I question it based on his training "technique") then he also claims to have several dogs at home that he's trained. But from everything he tells us about them they are the MOST ABSOLUTE BRILLIANT dogs(cuz of his training techniques), he is just by FAR a better trainer than "the dog whisperer" ever even thought of being! BUT.... after MANY attempts, I've asked him to bring in 1 of his dogs, just to show us a little bit of faith in the training that he does, he hasn't yet! But hey who knows maybe his dogs are out saving the world & that's why we'll never see them. BUT the class is an hour long. He jumps from 1 thing to another in 3 seconds expecting everyone to understand it & teach it to their dog. Just when you try to do so, he's onto 4 other commands. SOOO...basically I'm saying "DON'T WASTE YOUR $$ ON THIS, AS ITS PRETTY MUCH A JOKE!! DON'T TAKE YOUR DOGS HERE TO BE GROOMED!! Terri (groomer) is the nastiest person I've met in Utah! Today was the third time I took my dog to be bathed and groomed. The first time they shaved him instead of a trim. The second time they did not even trim him. Today I dropped him off at 12:45 and he was still there at 5! I went to pick him up and he was just having his nails trimmed! He was not groomed at all!' That is the first thing they should have done right after they check them in. He has just been washed and dried and was not groomed at all. So he sat in a kennel for 4 hours with nothing done. This is the worst petsmart I've ever been to. I've worked at 2 stores and we would never treat our pets this way. The groomer Terri had a bad attitude when I dropped him off and was super nasty when I picked him up. She never apologized and was working on another dog that came in after me. She should be fired for her terrible customer service. The manager Todd tries to make things better, but saying they were busy is not an excuse. You work on the dogs that come I first and have the bathers do nails and grindings. With the staff being updated all the time it is different every time I come in. For the most part they are all great and always make sure I have what I need. My biggest concern is for them being a facility that trains dogs, some of the staff have a lack of training themselves. My 70 pound girl loves coming here but has fear of humans. She has no aggression just is scared of people. I have to go through an introduction process each time someone wants to pet her. She has even peed herself when being approached and pet by strangers. I have had some of the staff not even ask if it's okay to touch her but go right up to her and try to pet her. When she flipped out and tried to get away with her tail between her legs and ears back I told the person that she has fear of humans and that its probably not the best thing to keep trying to pet her. Instead of stopping with the touching this person just dismissed what I had said and said she's fine and proceeded to walk toward her and reach out again. This is happened on my two most recent visits and training the staff on how to approach dogs needs to happen or there might be an incident. What if they do this to another dog who decides to lash out? On another note they are very helpful at helping me find certain things and recommending products to me.
