Petco sold me a fish they injured trying to catch. We didn't know it was injured at the time. But they said if it died because it was acting weird that they have a 30 day warrant on the fish. I have vital care so I got a 20% off deal and used our 5 dollar monthly allowance that you get for being a vital care member. but the fish died within 5 mins and we had to turn around and drive back. So we started the exchange process which is supposed to be free. But the vital care messed up the exchange process which made it so the fish exchange was no longer free but 2 dollars extra. so we canceled the exchange and we will cancel our vital membership. Do not get the vital membership it messes with everything regarding fish issues. I will be shopping at petsmart because they honor their exchange policy. read more

I was hoping the first grooming of our Coton de Tulear was just a nightmare of a mistake, where our little dog was not groomed, but skinned from toe to tail. But we took him to this store for a second grooming out of desperation. After moving here from FL, another Petco was too far away. This time was equally gruesome. "Danny", the same young man who shaved our dog the first time, this time did another awful job. He did not touch our dog's paws, they were still dirty with long, grown out fur. When asked why, he said because our dog "bit him" when he touched them. No other groomer has said that in the past. In addition, he did not brush him out thoroughly, clumps of hair were floating through the car all the way home. I had to take him out on the balcony, brush him out three different times and throw away all the clumps of loose hair. Danny didn't brush out his legs, the hair was still curly from the bath instead of straight, I was disgusted. We paid almost $80 but I called the manager when we got home. We are going back tomorrow to have our money returned. We will never go back to this Petco again, we'll try PetSmart in Sandy. Be very careful before trusting these groomers. read more

I took my dogs here for grooming a couple weeks ago. My first appointment was canceled because the groomer called out sick. My second appointment went well. I was charged extra (for higher weight class, and for matted hair, even though neither had matted hair) because I have two northern breed dogs with thick fur. They did a really good job, and I was happy with how they looked, but typically I don't get charged extra fees on top of the typical rate at other groomers. read more

I took my shih tzu for a bath and cut since his hair was very matted. When we got there, the original groomer said he could not cut his hair and another lady cut his hair. No big deal. Until, about 5 hours later, I went to check up on him and he was crying and making noises he he has never made ever. I also saw that the lady was pulling his leg up and up. He almost fell off the table. Then when it got time to pay, they said it would be $123 dollars. They raised it up about 100 dollars, and I get that he was very matted, but that is just insane. And when we got home, he could not move his back legs and whined whined when he moved. We then realized that they cut his vein that went through his nail. The vet gave us some ointment, and he is better now, but I WILL NEVER GO BACK. 1 Star. Less if I could. Horrible. read more

They've canceled on us twice for rescheduling, and we just got here for the third time--a long drive--and they said they wouldn't take the dog because his rabies vaccine is a few weeks expired. He's a new dog to the family, we didn't know it was expired, and it wouldn't have been expired if they hadn't canceled on us twice before. For one of these cancelations, their groomer got COVID and they said they called everyone who had an appointment but my wife got text reminders the day before and day of saying "see you soon!" and we didn't receive any calls to cancel or reschedule. It's now 85 degrees or higher every day and the dog's dying of heat. These guys aren't willing to do anyone favors and it almost seems like they were *trying* to pull some kind of red tape excuse out so they could lighten their load. We won't be coming back to any Petco locations. read more

Do not go to this Petco unless you are in a dire situation. I was recently at this Petco and my experience was decent but this second time not so great. I have been to multiple Petcos and they always have scanned my items to check price matching their website EVEN at this location when I had went on Sunday of this last weekend. When I had gotten their I went and grabbed my fishy tank thermometer and a plant rock then I walked up to the front end to check out. I WAITED FOR 3 minute for the new male cashier to see me while bud back was turned fixing items on a near by shelf. That is a safety issue first off... but then he comes over after I approach him with a attitude because I asked if he was busy and all he did was look at me like I was silly. Then I asked if he could price match my items and he said no because he was new...‍ I was internally screaming at this point. Then his so called "CSM" came up and he was like "what?" Very rudely to me. Instead he could've been like, "I over heard you had a questions what can I help you with?". Considering his new cashier was all alone on the front end. I asked the "CSM" if he could price match my 2 items and he was like "no, you have to pull it up on your app or browser then we can price match." I was trying to keep my cool let me tell you! I pulled up the Thermometer and sure enough it was a dollar cheaper online that is when I communicated that other store associates have personally scanned my products and price matched for me & THEN THE "CSM" WAS LIKE "well the person that did that must have just been nice" at this point I put my head down towards my phone as I checked my priced matched items online. I was fucking annoyed. Then when I left (this CSM was like 6 foot & had black longish hair) "CSM" had his back to me because I bet he could sense my annoyance. I tried to be the nicer person and as I was walking out I said "thank you" directly to him I knew he heard it because I read his body language & he didn't reply then started talking to the rookie cashier. I just walked out at that point not going to waste my energy anymore. Overall, do not shop here unless you want to pop a bitch. read more

The staff was friendly and helpful but like.... do cats just not matter at pet stores in Orem? The cat selection is so limited compared to the dog selection that takes up literally 80% of the store. I shouldn't have to drive to salt lake county just to get the cat food my cat eats. He's not even on a specialized diet or anything, this store just has the absolute bare minimum when it comes to any animal other than dogs. For the sake of all of the cat owners out there, do better. Terrible grooming! Horrible customer service! Do not have your dog groomed here. Our dog's hair was so choppy, and they didn't even groom her face and backside. Plus, they were supposed to have clipped our dog's nails, but they didn't. When we told them of our dissatisfaction, we had to wait a week to get another appointment for them to regroom our dog, and they were not happy to do it for free. read more

Customer Service was seriously unexpectedly off the charts. I am normally a Petsmart shopper. They do not carry my cat's food and I discovered online that Petco did so went there to stock up. First off: THANK YOU for having Blue Buffalo packets. I was hoping for salmon but you were out - no big deal. She just won't eat the chicken. I also needed help on a shampoo product. There was a Groomer who came over and gave me loads of helpful info out of the blue! This was after Mike looked in the back for any more of the cat food I needed. Geoffrey helped me at the beginning but wasn't completely sure about where things were and I appreciated that he grabbed someone that did and they helped me right away. Lastly I have got to mention how great Ceasar was. He took me to each place I needed and described the benefits of each product! All of the employees went above normal expectations and WAY WAY WAY beyond any visit to Petsmart. I will be driving the extra miles just to get to Petco, no doubt. Next we need to check into the grooming for our cockapoo and a wash for our lab! read more

Very very disappointed!! I will never shop there again!! Went with my 21 year old daughter to purchase some goldfish! While waiting for someone to come help us, we were picking out the goldfish we wanted as pets for our tanks. When we finally got help they told us we could not get any feeder gold fish as pets...that we needed to pick another kind of goldfish. I have never had that problem at any pet store. I had always gotten those type of gold fish for my daughter when she was 5 yrs old as pets in a decent size tank. I was so frustrated!! Since they were so negative about it I then told them that I wanted to get 2 fancy gold fish. The guy said, those fish grow pretty big and that I cannot have them in my 20 gallon fish tank. It's common sense that if my fish were to grow bigger I would purchase a bigger tank!!! They treat you as you're a kid and with no knowledge! Terrible customer service! Plus, they do not value customers. Do not use the grooming services. I have used Petco grooming for over 20 years, and in many states. I booked my Petco grooming appointment online at the Orem store, and had to over 30 days for an appointment. When I arrived at the appointment, they told me they didn't have my dog's vaccination records since 2019. Although the Orem store groomed my dog within the last 6 months. I told them that was incorrect since I have been in numerous times since 2019. I said I could get the records since I lived 5 minutes away, but the groomer would not work with me (nor could I have my vet fax the records to them). I remembered on the way home, that they have two records for my dog. One has current information and the other had old information. When this happened last time, you would have assumed they deleted the old record. This time, the groomer would not even look or work with me. Very disappointing to wait so long and the groomer could care less! They apparently do not value customers, and I will not do business again with the Orem Petco. read more

My dog was sick the second we brought him home from his grooming apt, don't know if it was from another dog or from the kennel. It's been 2 days of a dehydrated/lethargic dog and he is FINALLY getting better today. 2. They cut the tip of my dogs nose!! Can you just imagine how miserable that must be! Today I took my 12 year old shih tzu to her grooming appointment and was turned away because she is blind and has dry eyes. Now I am left trying to find a last minute grooming appointment with a new groomer. I am frustrated because Hazel has been going to one of three Petco locations (Fort Union, Draper, Orem) since she was a puppy. And it isn't like her blindess is a new thing. She has had dry eyes and progressive blindness for the past seven years and has been groomed at Petco every six weeks without any issues whatsoever. I asked if this was a new policy and the manager (who was as stupid and unhelpful as a person could be) said that it's a long-standing policy. How have I never known this? How can the policy all of a sudden apply to me after seven years? They tried to tell me that they don't have the tools necessary for grooming my dog. Well, what have they been using for the past 12 years? All you need is clippers, scissors, shampoo, and a blow dryer. She is just like any other dog and is actually really easy to groom. I have always felt such peace about having Petco groom Hazelnut because of the transparency and physical visibility of the salon, and now I am left feeling hurt at being turned away and nervous about finding a new groomer. The manager in Orem offered no help whatsoever and was actually quite rude to me. I also don't appreciate being told at the VERY LAST minute that my appointment was being cancelled. It takes several weeks to get into a groomer and my dog can't wait that long so now I'll need to buy a grooming kit and try to do it myself. The entire handling of the situation was unprofessional and unacceptable. I will never spend another dollar at Petco. I wish I could leave zero stars. read more

I have a service dog that I have taken here for grooming since he was a puppy. I have liked the service until this week. I made an appointment for his nails to be cut/buffed and had my family take him as I had to work. They were very rude to my wife and 2 boys. They then started to pretend I didn't have an appointment. Although I had a text and email confirmation that I had to send to my wife to show them beforethey admittedI had an appointment. Then they kept telling her that the vibe there has been bad all day so they weren't sure if that day was the best day to do it. They reluctantly kept the appointment that was set. Due to the way the staff was acting my wife had my boys stay and watch to make sure they didn't do anything to my dog. So my boys were watching my service dog as my wife went to pay, but before my wife could get to the register the groomer came out and said the my service dog bit her. Both of my boy that watched said that wasn't true she had him stand on the table raised it a little and then took him off and came out. My dog did nothing to her. The following day I went to talk to a manager and one of the groomers that was there the day before was there and started giving me attitude because I wanted the manager. Then went on to call my sons and wife liars. Things escalated from there as insults about my family kept coming. The entire time my service dog was calm didn't make a sound and sat right by me as this was all going down. Everyday we are out he has kids pull his ears or tail and he has never once even made a noise about it let alone bit anyone. As I told them that the groomers story changed to nipped her, tried to nip her, nipped at her was anxious and showed his teeth. While not all the groomers there are bad and some are wonderful these three groomers have no business working with the public or dogs. They are unprofessional liars. If they had a bad vibe there all day like they told my family it is them that caused it and took it out on the animals there. I would never recommend getting grooming services here by the off chance you end up with one of the three with the bad vibes. Where do they get off insulting my family and as employees to a company think it is okay to do so. The grooming manager was supposed to call me back but never did. I am disabled but I am going to figure out how to do all his grooming with one hand rather than take him to this place again. I won't even go there for anything else either. Can get things from petsmart or chewys usually for less anyway and these places have never insulted my family or told right out lies. I tried to post a review on petco website and they refused to post it. Didn't want the truth to be shared. On a side note this is the first negative review I have ever written. I like PetCo's because they're big and clean and you can always find a nice toy or treat for your dog! This one is no different. We were here last week and got a brush and treats for the dog. It's well-lit and clean and well-organized. I even used that "salad-bar" thing up front for the dog treats - the dog LOVED them too and they weren't as expensive as I'd thought. Good store. The lady who does grooming who worked 1/12/19 during closing was amazing. My dog hates everyone. He was scared but she handled him like a pro. She deserves a raise. I am totally appalled. I have brought my Bernese mountain dog here a couple of times and both times have had the groomers be short and pretty unfriendly. They always told me that he was so good for them and assured me he was fine during the grooming. They rescheduled my time a week before the appointment because one of their groomers had a medical emergency. Which is understandable. I took my dog in to get groomed at the new time they had me scheduled for and there was one groomer there, Jessica, there grooming that day. She told me that in his notes it says he is "wiggly and had a hard time sitting still". I had been assured and reassured by at least two other groomers he was good during his groom. I felt so bad for Jessica that she had to groom my now apparently unsettled 100 lb dog all by herself. She said if he was difficult that she would have to have me come get him, Which is really discouraging but also really understandable for her situation. The only groomer I trust here is Jessica. But I will NOT be returning for grooming services. read more

This specific store doesn't carry a large amount of different kinds of brands for dog food. The store is clean and I've had great experiences with my dog. However, in the fish department the people are not knowledgable and my fish died because of this. Lastly, grooming services is AWESOME! Annie is the best! At the beginning of September 2017 I purchased a 25LB bag on sale of Purina Pro Plan Focus Adult Sensitive Skin & Stomach Formula Dry Dog Food from Petco. About a week later I started noticing little moth like bugs flying around my apartment. Over the next few weeks I noticed more and more moths. I also started to notice little eggs being laid on my ceiling. After deep cleaning my apartment to find the source of the bugs, I opened the cabinet where I keep the dog food and HUNDREDS of moths came flying out. I immediately took the bag of dog food out side outside to open it up and there were hundreds of moth eggs and worms infected in the bag. I had my apartment fumigated last week however, I am still finding moths here and there. This was absolutely the worst and most disgusting thing I have ever experienced. I spoke with Petco claims resolution representative Debra Romero. She was the most rude and unhelpful person I have ever spoken to. I informed Ms. Romero that I contacted the manufacturer (Nestlé) directly and they explained to me that this issue would accrue at the store location due to the extreme temperatures the manufacturing storage room is kept and that they said to contact the store location directly to get this resolved. Ms. Romero told me that the Nestlé representative was not telling me the truth. Petco is not concerned with helping its customers and is more concerned with being right. Bottom line is that I purchased a bag of Purina Pro Dry Dog Food from Petco. After some time, I opened the bag of dog food and there were hundreds of moth eggs and worms infected in the bag.
