Great place, great fish, the service was nice and we will come back! The food was good and the price was ok. We loved the breaded fish (fish and chips) with Scholle which was about 5-7€ per piece. The pieces are medium size. The Remoulade sauce was also great! Unfortunately a lot of their fish was already sold out so we recommend to come early as you can also buy fresh raw fish home. The Seelachs grilled was light and good, same for the dorade where we paid 11€ for an entire fish. If you love fish, this is a an awesome place! The salad is fresh an Update: We went again for the fish and chips and chose Kabeljau as fish. The Remouladensaucen is great and the Fish absolut tasty with a perfect tasty crunch outside. We aren't fish and chips kinda folks so we were happy they had other choices on the menu. We are a group of three. We ordered 2 dishes of the salmon and butter fish skewers (spit) and 1 fettuccini seafood with tomato sauce. Everything was cooked right in front of us. So delicious and perfect portions! Though the friend I was with had tried several Berlin sushi joints before my arrival she waved me off of eating fish while there. Looking at a map I understand how far Berlin sits from an ocean but this friend had consumed seafood and had no adverse affects so why not me? On a night of dining solo I seized the opportunity to eat the verboten seafood, not just at any old place but at a place which specialized in it. That right there is a rarity as, aside from the sushi joints, I don't recall seeing anyplace besides this one which specialized in seafood. Fischfabrik is adorable. It reminded me of San Francisco's Anchor Oyster Bar though perhaps a squidge smaller. Two-thirds of the intimate restaurant is taken up with seating at high tables on high chairs (not highchairs). The remaining third is a combination seafood market and meal prep area, overseen by two young men who double as waiters. The whole place is very intimate and, when full, feels like you've tumbled upon a secretly special spot. You have. An amazingly long menu for such a tiny place is supplemented by specials scrawled on a chalkboard Parisian style. For seating I doubled up with another solo diner and, when his seafood salad (11€) arrived I merely pointed at his order. That is what I wanted. The seafood salad was a perfect entree comprised of four different types of prepared seafood atop a simple salad and accompanied by home-fried style potatoes. It was a deceivingly filling platter of food which paired perfectly with my Prosecco. Cute place, reasonable prices, good food, and a kindly solo gentleman diner with whom to share my table. Not good. I got here just before noon and was chuffed to have what looked like the best-rated fish and chips place in Berlin, certainly within walking distance of where I'm staying in Weissensee. They have 8 versions of fish and chips in two sizes. I opted for Rotbarsch (which I found out subsequently is ocean perch), the large portion. I grab a drink, an Apfelschorle that was by far the best part of the experience, from the drinks cooler and wait, and wait, and wait. Finally they bring me my order. First impression: wow this is a large? Second: HOLY FRIG this is HOT, so I have to wait several minutes to actually eat it. And when I do, it was terrible. The fish had been fried too long at too hot a temperature. The fries had as well. Everything was overfried, hard, greasy. I ate what I could and got the hell out of there. read more

Very yummy seafood lunch. Octopus Heck Sea Bream Shrimp soup One thing I hate about dining in Europe is that they don't bring water. And they don't have tap water. But it was imaginable from their cool attitude. Dishes are being prepared completely fresh and therefore it takes a little time, especially in the evening when it's pretty crowded. Okay, so it's on a super busy street, the white wine selection is pretty lame (I tried the Chardonnay, Riesling and some other German white), and the wait can take a long time, but the food is DELICIOUS! Had the sea bass- came grilled, fresh, whole, and absolutely perfect with roasted potatoes and a super fresh salad for €15. Make a res and be prepared to wait, but it's worth it. Never again. Me, my friend and her mother waited for the food for more then an hour to come, we asked about the 'slight delay' and the 'friendly' answer was: 'So ist es eben' (It is like it is ...). During that waiting hour we got in for a new drink (as we waited) and they just told us that they were making a different fish for us (found out by chance)... As we waited so long we finally received this oily piece of fish with oily chips, stank like fish ourselves with a disgusting, unfriendly and (I felt) racist and slow service. If it's for the fish... it was a bit McDonald's style, I guess ... never tried the McFisch, but this is how I imagine it, oily, old and with a bad aftertaste. Hipsters tend to 'discover'. Well, this is no discover, it is more an East German Kantine - ouch. Btw, the 'cook' (fish frier) sat with friends, drinking and talking while we were waiting. Well, if you think you have to: go on. Service was not very friendly, it took approx. 45 minutes to get our food (which in the meanwhile we asked to be wrapped for take out due to the long wait. Went on a Friday night - ...hmmm...went back on Saturday afternoon, again. Food was truly terrific and fresh. Had the whole Dorade, grilled. Simply fantastic. Next day had the mixed seafood salad. My partner had a chunk of the sea bass grilled with a side of potatoes which were quite tasty. So I'm no connoisseur but the fish and chips are to die for. The batter is both fluffy and crispy and the fish within is substantial. The chips are fresh and well seasoned.
