The inside of Spreegold is immediately welcoming, with its inviting and plentiful seating, and tasteful, minimal interior design. I arrived in the afternoon, and it seemed like a lot of people were there studying, or meeting with friends, and the atmosphere was super casual and relaxed. I came specifically for a late lunch, and I ended up ordering the vegan sandwich and a mint ginger lemonade. The person at the counter was friendly and helpful, offering me ice if I wanted the drink colder, and explaining where to pick up my food. The meal took about 10 minutes to prepare, which is a good sign for me, as it means it's being made. The sandwich was really just a "belegtes Brot," or open-faced sandwich. The bread on the bottom was delicious, and there was a nice variety of marinated vegetables on top. The presentation was fantastic, though the taste was just OK, and somewhat lacking in flavor. It also came with a side salad that had a really nice dressing. As for the lemonade, it was really sour, and even though I put sugar in it, it didn't sweeten it too much. All in all, I think it was an enjoyable meal. Certainly it wasn't amazing, but it was fine for a healthy bite to eat, and I appreciate that something vegan is available. The price was a bit much for what I got, but I guess it's a pricier place in general. I wouldn't necessarily come back for food, but maybe to meet a friend over coffee. read more

Hipster or not- this is for everyone that wants a good meal based on solid ecological ingredients. Their smoothies and limonaden are wonderful and so are their salads. SO HIP! I can't wait to go back and get another drink with friends here. Their back room is very cute and cozy and the front area is nice and the whole place gives off a great vibe. So many places to sit and lots of yummy things to order. I got the triple chocolate dessert which was delicious but so chocolatey I couldn't finish it. The red ice tea was really thirst quenching and cute with the frozen berries in it. My friend got the coconut creme brûlée which she said was good also but so sweet she couldn't eat the whole thing and the green ice tea unsweetened which looked refreshing! I would love to go back here for brunch or a drink next time and not just dessert. The service was a little slow but it seemed like there weren't too many waitresses working. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and a large variation of menu items, good choice for a brunch It's self service from morning till 6pm, its always busy so u might not always be lucky to find a comfortable chair, but the stools aren't so bad. The food is great n the portions are more than enough for one person, i'd recommend the buttermilk pancakes and the rainbow detox salad I've also tried the mozzarella tomato scrambled eggs. It did not have balsamic vinegar (as stated in the menu) and It was a little undercooked for my taste, but the chef wasn't at all offended when i asked him to cook it a bit more, so that was nice. One year later and the Spreegold surprised me with a dirty wine glass, thick old slices of bread wrapped around a tasteless chicken / salad filling, I mean a funny and expensive attempt for a sandwich - if you can't make sandwiches, I don't want to try the more complicated dishes from your menu... I won't talk about the dirty couch I had the pleasure to rest my body on. This place used to be cool, new and authentic. I walk away with a bitter taste in my mouth. We visited Spreegold twice during our visit to Berlin and thoroughly enjoyed the food. Discovered this restaurant by chance on the around me function of this app. The restaurant was spacious with trendy wood decor and huge windows opening onto the road. The menu was short and to the point offering breakfast and light lunch options. On the first visit we chose scrambled eggs, toast and beans which didn't disappoint. Second time I had the halloumi burger and sweet potato fries which tasted good but quite oily - a huge contrast to the light and healthy feeling egg breakfast I previously had - still tasted good however. The restaurant was self service meaning you ordered at the till and could help yourself to water and coffee refills. There you are tempted with croissants, pan au chocolates, cheesecakes, brownies etc, so you are tempted for more than you originally planned for! Serving staff were helpful and pleasant speaking good English. Big thank you to the chef for catering to my boyfriend's nut allergies. Would visit again if in Berlin again. read more

Spreegold is the type of place I want to love with every part of my being. They serve homemade teas in mason jars, they have wooden furniture, a paleo portion of the menu, and they do brunch. Any place that respects the sacred brunch is already a winner in my opinion. However this place, with so much promise, falls short. First off, I want to say food is good. I have virtually no qualms with the food itself. Sure, food is not ridiculously cheap and yes, you can find better values elsewhere. But they seem to use good ingredients and I prefer not to feel like I'm going to gag after my meal. Just savor your food guys and it will do the trick. My biggest qualm is the customer service and the overall organization of it. The workers are not friendly. They seemed to have forgotten their smiles because they're just behind the counter working as fast as they can. It's reasonable, especially during peak times, but it just seems really mechanic. Also, retrieving drink orders is a strange ordeal. My friends ordered drinks and when they went up (after finally realizing their smoothies were ready), the people behind the counter didn't seem to make it obvious where the drinks were or if it was really theirs. I'm not trying to pick a fight. I like the place enough that I would go again. The pastries in the front counter look good too. I suppose next time, I would just avoid the peak lunch/brunch hour and go when it's not so hectic. read more

That was some terrible food. My girlfriend and I both ordered pasta. Hers was mediocre at best, but mine was horrendous. It had almost no flavor and the sauce was watery. Hands down, the worst part was the texture of the pasta. It was like eating used gum. I normally don't order pasta in a restaurant, since it's so easy to make at home, but apparently some people have a hard time even making it in a restaurant. All of this would at least be more understandable, if the place didn't charge more than 6€ and wasn't self-serve. But that's not the case. With so many restaurants right around the corner where the same meal would be 5-6€, actually tastes like food, and they serve you at your table, why would you come here? Yuck. read more

Good quick options that are healthy and fresh. I usually do the avo toast with poached egg and it's alright. Commongrounds supersedes this by far. Coffee very good. I did have a really good dinner here (hamburger) - but the lunch the next day was disappointing. The all you can drink refillable coffee mug was great, but they kept running out and not replacing it for long periods of time. I ordered the farmer omeltte and it would have been good if it wasn't really just a GIANT pizza omelette covered in everything you can imagine all mixed on top....and hot salad leaves (because the rest of the food was hot). It was all a goopy mess and I didn't know what I was eating. I think it should have all been scrambled (without the salad) or laid out separately as individual items. One of our coffees was taken by another person at the counter and they were reluctant to make us another one. We had to wait for a long time for the food, and didn't get even get get it at the same time. I ordered a bulletproof coffee which was small but well made. Spreegold is great! We ate here for breakfast lots during out stay in Berlin. I'm vegan and they are very accommodating! There is a paleo menu so I was able to have the apfel muesli which is delicious and they also made my porridge (the hot fruit one) using soya milk. Their smoothies are delicious and the coffee is also pretty good. Highly, highly recommended. read more

Waiters are plain rude, it's like they have no idea whatsoever on how to deal with customers. I tried to ask my burger without onions and they answered with an attitude as I was bothering them; same when we tried to order something to drink from our table, they seemed bothered to take our order and to answer to our questions. The first time was about a 10 minutes of waiting in a queue of only 3 people that she was managing irritably slow. The second time, I've ordered my flat white like usual but she was on the coffe machine and what I got was a sort of bad done latte macchiato. when, smiling, I asked her to have a flat white I've been told like "that is flat white!". It's been so embarrassing.. then she even refused to make my drink again, which is the base of cordiality if you work with people and if you minimally like your job I will stay away from this place for a while UPDATE 30/08/15 I didn't have such problems anymore but I have to admit that the service here is not the most friendly ever, except regarding a waitress tall and blond which is amazingly kind, quick and precise, I don't know her name. Spreegold was recommended to me and my husband by our Airbnb host. Like a few others Yelpers mentioned, I also really wanted to like this place. The vibe there is cool... but our dining experience was not. I ordered a salmon sandwich, which was actually pretty good. My husband ordered a burger with bacon, no BBQ sauce, with mayo instead. When his burger arrived, there was no bacon and spread heavily on the bun was BBQ sauce along with a glop of mayo. The server apologized and said that the cook just didn't read order ticket because it was the end of a long day for her. When the burger came back from the kitchen, the cook replaced the bun, but slathered on even more mayo. There was already enough mayo on it on the greens from the first attempt. When looking at it, it looked like there was 4x as much mayo as anyone would want on it. The waitress was nice enough, but all she was able to do was offer excuses for the poor preparation. She did offer us a free dessert, but we declined. We just wanted to get out of there. read more
