    Avocado toast

(4.5 stars) I'm now officially obsessed with habanero pesto. I couldn't not order the avocado toast when I saw it and I'm so glad I did because it was just what I needed for a weekend afternoon, along with some filter coffee. Also loved the watery tomatoes on top, made for really great bites. I wasn't crazy about the sourdough bread, maybe I just had an off slice, but would totally order again.

Sweet service even though they were super busy! The courtyard is lovely so if it's a pretty day, and tables are available, I highly suggest sitting outside. They do roast their own coffee so I suggest grabbing a bag. The food was great! The avocado toast was so fresh and the poached egg was done perfectly!

Potatoes with mushrooms, and one measly egg.

To put one poached egg on a piece of toast with some leaves, and two pieces of mushroom - and sell this practically empty dish for €18... to call this a shameless rip off would be a compliment. Otherwise, nice ambiance.

In a super cute courtyard past a 14 ounces sign lies excellent cold brew and amazing latte. The food is also good in terms of the toast with butter and berries including ever tart gooseberries and salmon Benedict toast.

This cafe is unique! It's situated at the backyard court among the surrounding buildings with indoor and outdoor seatings . They serve a variety of Latte Art drinks, snacks and patisseries. They really setve a good coffee and is indeed perfect for chilling out and very quiet and away from the street noise. This is my first time to this place and will be back.

Put simply, winter really sucks for people who wear glasses. Those blessed with good eyesight can simply stroll indoors and welcome the the blast of heat as a respite from the cold. Those who aren't as lucky see their glasses immediately fog up thanks to the instant change in temperature. I'd never had any employee try to help me while I pitifully wiped my glasses off on a shirt, sweater, or scarf for the first 30 seconds after stepping foot inside a restaurant or a coffee shop... until my visit to Father Carpenter. Because I didn't hear her ask if I needed a napkin, the employee behind the counter actually walked over to where I was and handed it to me, quickly becoming my hero of the day. What great service, and I hadn't even ordered yet. I can't deny that I'm a sucker for avocado toast. (Guess that means I'm just another millennial who won't be able to afford to buy a house in the future!) Avocado toast is usually run-of-the-mill everywhere you go unless you're willing to drop more money on fancy, artisanal add-ons. I've always found myself ordering heartier brunch-style avocado toast that come with poached eggs, so it was a pleasant surprise for me to see that Father Carpenter's only avocado toast option came with hummus and harissa. (Alas, I had to get my poached egg fix as an add-on for €2.) Both the hummus and the harissa came on the side, which I appreciated because I had to pass on the spicy harissa because it overpowered the rest of the flavors. The hummus, however, did add a nice and subtle garlicky kick to the avocado toast. On the other hand, I thought that the sourdough was an interesting bread choice because the toasted crust made the dish a little hard to cut with a knife, but it was still very tasty. You won't find yourself randomly walking past the coffee shop and then deciding to give it a try because Father Carpenter is tucked away in a courtyard hidden from the main street. It's a beautiful and peaceful courtyard though, and I can't wait to enjoy my meal there once the weather gets warmer. I found the clientele quite international -- I mostly heard English being spoken. This might be one of the reasons that Father Carpenter offers complimentary tap water, which is a rarity in Berlin restaurants. While I thought my avocado toast was a little pricy, I loved the complexity of flavors and came in expecting Mitte prices in the first place.

Nestled in the corner of a historic courtyard, serving up deli soups coffees and teas and fresh toasts with toppings like whipped feta, pork, avocado and poached eggs. Stop here for a pick-me-up and a snack, or for lunch. Service was prompt and friendly. Space is limited so not the best for larger parties. Now go enjoy Berlin!

Father Carpenter is tucked away in a beautiful courtyard off a high foot traffic street in Berlin Mitte. Thus, quite easy to miss this spot as there's only a small sign directing the curious through a courtyard and into this hidden gem of a coffee shop. While their food offerings looked delectable, we only stopped by for more coffee and conversations, since my friend, bf, and I had just had brunch/coffee at a different spot prior to coming here. I was surprised by how busy this place was for a weekday! I could only imagine what it's like here on weekends. After ordering our oat milk flat whites at the counter, we were motioned to an empty table so we could seat ourselves. This was gracious of them because it seemed that the indoor space was only being occupied by customers who had ordered brunch food. I was pleased by their service and space, which is cosy and emits a chill atmosphere for friends to converse. The oat milk flat white was smooth. In addition, the workers here all speak English and one can overhear conversations in English, a point that further justifies one of the reasons why I love Berlin so much-- it's such an international city. The outdoor courtyard seating would be oh so lovely during the warmer months, that's for sure.

Such a cute cafe in Mitte! It's tucked away in a courtyard off one of the main shopping streets, so it's very calm and peaceful. There's a nice outside seating area and two different counters: one for takeaway and one for sitting down. We stopped in the table service section for a weekday breakfast. It was almost empty when we arrived around 9:30, but was completely packed by 11am. I'm not sure what all this "3rd wave coffee" movement is all about, but Father Carpenter makes a damn good (and strong) cup of espresso. We paired our drinks with the banana bread (very moist and with a great compote on the side) and a full order of the avocado toast. The toast was definitely a hearty dish; each slice of bread must have been an inch thick and had what looked like an entire avocado. The toast also came with a variety of seeds, hummus, greens, and spicy harissa, which made for a very filling meal. The staff was also very friendly, and they have fast wifi!

Tucked in a little courtyard, this place couldn't be more adorable. The sweetest staff ever! Ordered the avocado toast with poached egg (I can't remember the proper name) and it was delicious! My latte was perfect! Seven days into my Germany trip, I needed this little place. It's refreshing and good for the soul!

Delicious coffee, friendly service, good breakfast options (albeit quite limited & no GF options), and really nice atmosphere sitting in the courtyard on warm days. Would be back!

Great coffee, great avo toast! Berlin certainly has no shortage of terrific third wave coffee houses so each time I'm in town I try to check out a different one. Since we were staying not far from Alexanderplatz we decided to have brunch here. It's located inside a courtyard with access to a handful of boutiques. Seating is a little limited and patrons spill out on to the courtyard. We did get a table inside and had lattes and avocado toast with smoked salmon. It was delicious and exactly what we wanted at the time.

Nice outdoor seating area in a courtyard tucked away, and really good avocado toast! Very filling. I've heard the coffee is great but I am a tea drinker so didn't partake. There is a to-go area as well. Service was good and quick. On a Saturday morning there are tons of people so get there early!

I have tried several dedicated specialty coffee roasters in Berlin but now focus nearly exclusively on Bonanza. Big, rich, complex and wonderfully distinctive selections, really deftly roasted. My visit to Prenzlauer Berg was made especially worthwhile by an employee who not only knew the current selections in detail, but had excellent personal recommendations. She said she was particularly impressed by the La Pitina Natural Costa Rica, and WOW did she nail that. What a full-on flavor bomb those beans turned out to be, and her recommendation of the Akinyi Shamba Kenya was also knockout - - LOVE these coffees. After that visit I ordered them again online from here in Hamburg, and am again very pleased. I really appreciate Bonanza's service and dedication (not to forget superb buying and roasting!) across all facets of the operation. So grateful for the personal service, and for the exceptional attention to care that Bonanza provides. Absolutely top drawer.
