This First Watch is a new location and my first time eating at a First Watch. The food was very good but the service needs some work. I went Saturday for brunch so they were busy but our server didn't seem to care too much about us being there. The restaurant was just about half full, but there was a near 20 minute wait for a table to accommodate our group. The server was excellent, but this was the best thing about the restaurant. The food portions were paltry, and the taste was just okay. This is the second First Watch location in the area. This was my first visit, after hearing so many people speak highly of the chain. I was not impressed. Again, our server was excellent. Kudos to her. Apart from that...I cannot see a reason to recommend this restaurant. There are better options available. read more

Food is always good, but service definitely needs some attention. Morgan was our server this afternoon and had a nasty attitude while taking our order. We had a couple modifications and would have found it much more appropriate if she had written down my order at the table. Megan was quick to snap back at us " I said that already. Ya'll cut me off before I could get it out" when we reminded her of an item we ordered. Her attitude is unacceptable in a business like this. I have been going to First Watch in Newark DE for sometime and I love it! imagine my surprise when I went to the First Watch in Wilmington DE and both of the two times I'd been there the experience was disappointing, really disappointing. the first time we wrote off, everyone has a bad day but yesterday we waited 30 minutes to be seated in a store that was about 1/3 empty, no one explained or apologized. Our waitress, Tosh took our order and we, legitimately never saw her again. after a long wait our food was brought to us by a different waitress. i pointed out that the order was not what I asked for she did take care of it but when I asked if I could add a to go order she said, " it's not my table and I have customers." we finished our lunch and no one had checked on us or brought our bill. I found a wonderful gentleman,Ben, who got my to go order and checked us out. When I asked if our server had left, thinking that we just got caught in a shift change he said no, she was there still. I do not plan to return and I suggest if you want a great First Watch experience go to First Watch in Newark DE, it will be worth the drive from Wilmington and they will take good care of you. read more

Waitress Ashley was awesome, apologized continuously for the slow service and two sets of dirty utensils. Food was so-so. I have been to the other location in Newark, much better service there. Advised the manager of my concerns, his response was how was the server? I told him she was great, she doesn't wash the dishes or cook the food the problems were not her fault. To finish off the experience the young lady who took the check, did not say hello nor thank you and seemed irritated when I asked for a receipt. Once is enough for me. When I arrived, I waited in line at the hostess station, was not greeted, over looked by the host even after I stepped up to inform the host that I was there to grab my to go order but I did not get the chance the host look right past me to some other person and took them instead, I was confused. I then ask a waitress passing by was I in line because I couldn't understand why I was not receiving service. She was very gracious and helped me find my order which was not ready when they said it would be. I had to wait an additional 10 minutes for my food that wasn't even hot so, that means that my food was just back there sitting while I was waiting. The thing is I frequent First Watch often in many locations and this is the worse experience I've had thus far, hopefully it was a 1 off. Just make sure that the Host or Hostess establishes eye contact and greets everyone coming through the door. I think this simple gesture would have made my experience 100% better. read more

Although the food at this restaurant is great and the servers are excellent, the wait time is unacceptable. The process of having people join online and people showing up to add their names to the list needs to be addressed and reviewed for a better process. read more

wanna start this off by saying i'm a bartender and have been in customer service my whole working career so i usually never complain but today we came to first watch for breakfast and kinda had the weirdest/worst service from our server. She wasn't friendly at all and didn't seem very willing to make the simple accommodations we were asking for. We got our food and maybe took 4 bites before she dropped the check and told us to have a good day. I know some restaurants have a policy for turning tables and dropping checks but she never asked us if we needed/wanted anything else meanwhile all 6 glasses on the table and the water pitcher were completely empty. We even put them at the edge of the table as a hint and she walked by multiple times as if we weren't there. She was also the bartender and had 1 other table and maybe 4 guests so it's not like she was super busy. and even so that's not an excuse. on the positive side our food and drinks were rly good! read more

Visited the recently opened First Watch in Barley Mill Plaza, Wilmington on Sunday, Jan 15th,at 11:30am Zero stars. (Food however gets 4 stars) The management and efficiency of this location are horrible. 1. We had a 45 minute wait for 2 people. Normally this is a non issue for a Sunday morning but they had empty tables that were not bussed, anywhere from 5 to 8 that I counted, for at least 10-15 minutes because they were not being turned over as people finished. I asked the manager why and he said there was a backup in the kitchen. 2. When we finally sat down, the condiment area on our table had crumbs from the previous customer. We played musical chairs to sit on the cleaned side of the table. 3. From the time we sat down, it took 8 to 10 minutes for our waitress to ask for our drink order, another 10ish to receive our coffees and water, plus waitress forgot the milk I ordered for my coffee. The decaf was horrible, no flavor. I told the manager and the waitress who removed the carafe from the table. I didn't drink it but it was still on the bill. Plus They didn't even ask if I wanted something else. 4.The hostess at the register tried to fix the bill but appeared to be extremely frustrated because the terminal was being troublesome, I can totally understand why she hit the machine and grunted. 5. My companion and I watched other people who sat down AFTER us eating their meals by at least 10-15 minutes before ours finally arrived. While we waited for our food, I spoke with the manager about the turnaround and the coffee. He said I don't know, I don't drink decaf but I'll check to see why and I'll check on your food, He never got back to me. 6. Our waitress was sweet but barely saw her. She checked on us once and that's when I told her about the coffee as she was not the one who brought out our food. I have been to First Watch before at a South NJ location during peak times and never had this type of issue. I will not be going back there, very disappointed. read more

First, if you want to talk to the person you went to breakfast with, don't go here. It's obnoxiously loud. In addition, when we were sat it was directly by the door. It was so crowded that people were standing over us and hitting us in the backs as we were eating. The bartender was our waitress and after the initial delivery of drinks, she didn't come back until after we got our food- 45 minutes later, despite needing drinks. Furthermore, when we finally got our food, the potatoes were severely undercooked and out of 4 people only one of us got what we ordered. (IE - asked for no onions but got onions). It seemed that they attempted to mimic eggspectations and failed. Won't be returning. read more

First visit here. Seated fast, server approached & got drink/food orders in a decent amount of time but we've been waiting over a half hour to get our food. So I'm not impressed with that much. It's a cute little place with a menu that's a little "yuppity" is the way I'd describe it. Not sure I'll be coming back. Extremely disappointed! Our server was super nice, and personable, but she never came back after other staff members brought our food to the table, or checked to see if we needed drink refills. When she finally returned I was over the entire experience. My family's lemon ricotta pancakes(old strawberries), and chocolate chip pancakes were dark, and tasted like a burnt griddle. My son's bacon looked like jerkey! It wasn't even crispy; literally looked like pre cooked, re-heated, dehydrated, jerkey. My mom's turkey sausage gravy was watery, and her rolled silverware had old food stuck to it. That was the 1st red flag, but we all surprisingly kept our disgust to ourselves, and politely just asked for a new set. My eggs Benedict had no taste, and the tomatoes were mealy, but my son did enjoy the potatoes. We noticed trash on the floor under the tables near us. Nothing like Newark (we tried Newark 1st but the line was all the way outside)! The waitress did have some of the check compensated, because even without complaining, she knew, by the amount of food left on everyone's plate, it was terrible! Don't waste you hard earned money, or time! And literally just had to post 1 star to submit my review. Not even worth it! read more

First off we waited for 60 minutes when we were told 30. It was Father's Day brunch so it was expected that we would have to wait a bit. When we sat down we had drinks orders taken. After we got our drinks we placed our orders. It was 45 minutes until we had to flag down our server and ask about our food to which we were told that the kitchen was backed up. You would think that could've been communicated earlier? the server sped off before we could ask for refills of drinks (all our cups were empty) We then flagged her down again to ask for refills. It took 20 more minutes to get our food and we had to ask the food runner to get ahold of our waitress for our drinks. The we're out of the cornbread special as well. We had to go to the manager multiple times. Food was decent but nothing special. The toast was not toasted and the potatoes were undercooked. The brisket hash had little meat in it. We got $20 off but honestly should've been compensated more after wasting 2.5 hours waiting for food. We were told that 5 people called off that day which we understand but please communicate that with the customer. We felt ignored the entire time. And if that was the case they were understaffed CLOSE SOME OF THE SECTIONS. We were seated in a back area that could've been closed off to alleviate the work from the servers. There were so many open tables so it looked like they were not busy. The manager should alleviate the work of the servers instead of spreading them out thin as it seemed like they were. The worst part was the server was completely unapologetic and never once said sorry. It seems to be an issue that they are overstuffed and it is something that the manager should reevaluate the way they run their business. read more

On the morning of Father's Day June 18, 2023 my family wanted to stay in and have a good breakfast so we chose to order from first watch in Wilmington DE. We tried putting our order through on DoorDash but it did not work and had an error. We then went onto the first watch website and ordered online and our order could not be completed for pick up. Our last resort was to show up at the restaurant and order but when we arrived they told us they were not taking to go orders. MAJOR INCONVENIENCE. When calling the First watch restaurant there was no answer the first time and then the second time I got a frantic rude female that was not helpful and did not know anything about when online ordering is not working. She told us we could not order over the phone and she never told us there was no to go ordering inside the restaurant or we would have never showed up to order in person. We will NEVER be ordering or going back to First watch. Customer service is Terrible across the boards. -10/10 would never recommend. read more
